*I found this information very helpful to know as I have on of these dolls made in the 20's [or possibly 30's, don't know which] I just happened to Google 'Madame Alexander, New York, Ny' & came across this site~ Some of these dolls are absolutely stunning & good to know there are some things still worth making by hand~

And I also love dolls and history. So the free tour of this classic doll manufacturers' Heritage Gallery is right up my alley. 600 dolls from the 1920's to the present are on display. The free tours are by appointment only; for groups of 5 or more Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 10am and 3pm. The parking is limited to pay garages nearby and we found it easier (& more cheap fun!) to take the 1/9 subway to 125th walk the three blocks north ( I know it skips a few!) to 131st and head left. They are halfway up the block on the right. Prepare any children if you don't plan to purchase any of the equisite, $80 and up dolls available for sale.
