This was one of the first "dives" that I frequented when I moved to the city....back when it was a dodgy area. It has, for the most part, gone unchanged since the onslaught of the Wicker over-crowding. Still has a great vibe during the week, and early on the weekends. Local bands play there throughout the week; and NO COVER!! One of the few places in the area that still have no cover. Great selection of beer on tap and cheap specials pretty much every day of the week. Worth the visit.

If you could handpick the most alcoholic, least likely to hook up people from every different type of
bar and bring them together in a dingy bar, you would get the Nick's clientele. Actually, that's pretty much how people wind up at Nicky's Nicks.

The jukebox is not "good"; the aforementioned people tend to run a Yeah!/In Da Club train on it, hoping to start a dance floor where they can strike out some more. The above reviews shows how silly the people are at Nicky Nick's. Who the says "the juke is good"? It's a jukebox. It plays whatever you pay for. The beer is not cheap. I think it's telling that the bar looks dingy, even from the promotional photos on its own website. And it's one of the only bars in Chicago that still allows smoking.

If you're looking for a grungy neighborhood bar scene, Nick's isn't bad, especially during normal bar hours. After most nearby bars close, however, you get a funneling effect of the drunken partiers who aren't ready to call it a night, and Nick's becomes nightmarish.

Pros: Open late

Cons: Smoking, Parking, Ambience

Great Chicago neighborhood spot! Good beer line-up and nice cocktails. Wonderful pro bar staff. Go in and exchange travel stories with veteran bartender/world traveler Thor on Sundays and Mondays! Open until 4am. Pool table, pinball, and a great urban beer garden. Weekends are packed with party people. Weeknights have a cool laidback funky attitude. Located in the ecclectic artsy Wicker Park neighborhood. Tons of shops, cafés, restaurants and nightlife nearby. See you there!

I like Nick's. The juke is good, they have big cans of Foster's, and it's not she-she like so many other Wicker Park bars. It's just a BAR. I wish I could live there.

In 1993, Nick's moved to its present location in Wicker Park. A long space, it features at front a polished-wood bar down one side, tables and chairs along the other; a pool table and walls awash in colorful murals give…
