If you just want to go and see the whole Cheers thing, that is great. Then don't stay and eat because the food is not very good, it is small and crowded and overpriced. Take a picture from the outside and move on.
2Yeah, don't go here. I know, great TV show. But if you live here, you know that no one - NO ONE - from Boston will go anywhere near this place unless dragged by a tourist desperate for, well, I don't know what. The food's not great, it's overpriced, and it's just wall-to-wall tourists. Ugh.

Unless you're a tourist or with an enthusiastic tourist you should be embarrassed to be seen here. The lines are long and the food is terrible. The bar looks nothing on the inside like the tv show so just walk past it, maybe take your picture in front of the flag and keep walking! They also stamp your hand like you've been branded 'tourist' when you go in and let me tell you, that stamp doesn't come off easily.

The only reason this place does so well is because of the Cheers novelty aspect. While it can be a cool place to take tourists, especially "Cheers" fans, locals rarely eat here-- it's overpriced, crowded, and the novelty wears off after a while. Everyone needs to visit once, but it is probably not a place you'll frequent for the amazing food or atmosphere.
PROS: Novelty fun
CONS: Quality of the food; prices

Definitely the best burger I have ever eaten! Obviously being British my vote doesn't say so much. But I was pretty glad to see that I am not the only one who rated this place so highly.

Went for a few drinks and a quick bite. Had the chicken fingers and beef barley soup. The soup was very bland and watery, and the chicken fingers had a strange taste to them. The food was not that great at all. Nice pub atmosphere and the staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions of where to go in the area. Had to check it out though-it's Cheers!!

Pros: Friendly staff, Pub atmosphere
Cons: , Overpriced
Even with all the tourists, they still serve a great burger, the steak and cheese sub is HUGE, the chowder is Boston classic - and it has a great atmosphere. I love the pub feel - truly authentic, even after Hollywood copied it.

We finally got a chance while in Boston to visit the original Cheers and had a ball! Yeah, the place was crowded, but what good place isn't. The service was great and our bartender was very entertaining. The menu was your basic pub fare but very good. If you go to Boston, Cheers should be on your must see list.

Pros: staff, Guinness
I was so excited when my friend and I visited Boston this summer. A great fan of Cheers, I was so wired to finally visit the place that gave inspiration for my favorite show. Sure, it was a little crowded, but the people were so nice, and my high hopes were fulfilled. I loved seeing the memoribilia on the walls, and I emptied my wallet in the gift store. All in all I was one satisfied customer.

I had lunch at this spot on a recent trip to Boston with my wife. Portions were a good size, food was above average, service was fine, nothing really spectactual about the place... except for their bloody mary. They were so good, I had three of them.

Pros: Bloody Mary, Food
Don't get confused when you walk in and it doesn't look like what you've seen on tv. This is the bar the show was based on, originally called the Bull and Finch Pub. You can see some similarities but the most obvious difference is the size. Very busy and fairly crowded with not much in the way of elbow room but definitely a must see if you're in the area.
