I have been to the "New" Central House three times since its' latest takeover a couple of months ago.
The first experience was on a Friday for fish fry. We had several dinners that were competently done and presented properly. All came with salad bar, which was adequate. This visit was soon after they re-opened this summer (2008). Decent service - Good value. The next visit was during the week for drinks with a friend. We were well attended to at the bar. The last visit was on a Saturday evening for dinner. We ordered Prime Rib, a sweet potato specialty side and salad bar. The waitress was very pleasant, but definately inexperienced, needed some training, but, at least showed an awareness level generally higher than most... Salad bar adequate, again, somewhat uninspiring. The Prime Rib was served on a plate with the Au Jus, not in a separate cup. The veggies and sweet potato were served on another plate, the frozen veggie combo cool, not hot and the sweet potato signature side dish a success. The most disappointing part of all three visits to this beautifully restored old Supper Club was the rather (too) loud and well out of character country music played off of broadcast radio into a rather poor sound system. Annoying at best...actually making a mediocre experience less than anticipated. I will be stopping in there again, after giving them a resonable time to train waitresses, get some experience in the new place and turn on some nice, low volume "elevator" music more in keeping with the level of class that the Central House facility exudes. Next time, an in depth serious critique, no more Mr. Nice Guy....
