I have been going to Heather for the past 4 months and have never been happier with my hair. The cut is great and so easy to manage. I get compliments on it almost every day and always recommend Heather. She listens to what you like and what you dislike and gives you the perfect cut to fit you. She knows exactly what looks best on me when it comes to color. My blonde looks so natural and dimensional. Heather is highly recommended.

I have always been on a search for the perfect haircut, but i was beginning to think it didn't exist. I never know what to do with my hair and i usually leave it up to the stylist. Heather cut my hair, and she knew exactly what to do. I love my haircut & have received so many compliments. i can't wait to go back to Heather & have her do my color!

I searched all over this city for a good hairdresser - and finally gave up and found someone reasonable and good in NYC - but he retired! I tried someone at a salon around 8th & Walnut and received the worst haircut in my whole life! I searched the internet and decided to try Edmondo Blando (Eddie) at Salon Vanity. My hair is fine and must be cut well - cut in the way that it falls naturally - not into some shape from a magazine. I live and die by the cut! I have now been twice to see Eddie and am very pleased with the haircuts that he has given me. I especially like that he uses a technique whereby he cuts my hair "dry." It seems to make a big difference. I had actually heard of this technique and was considering traveling to NYC again to try a hairdresser who "cuts dry." But I then found out that this is how Eddie cuts hair (I believe following the techniques of the internationally known Swiss hairdresser Mike Karg). My hair feels and looks natural and grows in nicely and I have had many compliments. Eddie has shown me how to easily take care of it by myself, and it is a relief to find someone in the city who knows about cutting hair. That sounds like a simple thing but I have been to most of the salons here and most hairdressers do not even seem to know the difference. I have no problem recommending Eddie at Salon Vanity.

Well i have to say i am so happy that i finally found a stylist that i love! I did a massive search on the internet & i i found Salon Vanity! I had read a lot of great reviews about Heather. When i called the receptionist confirmed my interest in Heather. I was so, so happy with the results. Heather greeted me with the warmest smile, & i felt comfortable immediately! i am so happy with my hair, & that is a feeling i have not felt in a while! The best part is i can do my my hair myself at home too! I can't wait for my next appointment!

This Salon has the best stylists. I went to Janine for a blowdry i got right in , she blowdryed my hair in 15 min tops WOW! .... victoria secret hair i got -- she set my hair in brushes and it was full of life and bounce when i left the salon she gave me her business cards by the time i walked up walnut street they were gone ! she will be my lunch break from now on !
Then i tried Eddie i heard he was amazing with dry cutting and he was i have a beautiful haircut, it moves on its on its alive! and he even showed me how to clip it up so my style lasts a couple days! it did 4 days no wash!......but the down side is i had to wait 2 weeks to see him -- very much worth the wait!!
just book your next appointment before you leave and you wont have any trouble getting in to see him

great salon !!! my color has never looked so great and my haircut is beautiful. I really had an amazing experience everyone there is so professional and talented ! Eddie is truly talented , actually i have been looking for someone like him for a while , I stop people on the street with beautiful hair and 3 random girls said Salon Vanity Eddie and i had to go - his name was the only one repeated so i did and I am so happy

I came to Salon Vanity, and at first, it was great. But I went recently and Eddie called me the wrong name because he was working on 3 other people at the same time. There is no more individual attention and the results are suffering - I am moving to another salon - I advise that you take the $200 style somewhere else where you will feel like you are listened to and have some personal attention

I had my hair cut and colored twice by Ed. The first time I felt that the cut and color were OK, but that we could build on making things even better. The one thing that I was not happy about was the fact that he did not color all the way down, leaving brown in the part area where blonde should be. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, even though he stated to me that he thought most people would come back in a months time to get a touch-up. I needed a touch-up right away.

When I returned on my next appointment I stated two things upfront; that my roots needed to be completely covered and that my top layers needed to remain intact with just some basic styling. As I was waiting I noticed that he left another clients hair with that same dark root area. I also noticed that everybody in the salon seemed to be receiving the same "leave in round brush blowout." That blowout, though nice, is not practical for anyone to do at home and it also puffs the hair out. When he was finished he stated to me that he changed my top a bit so that I could wear a ponytail. I was mystified since I do not wear ponytails and had told him not to do anything radical to the top.

After returing home and then washing it, I noticed that the color job was as poor as could be. An even larger chunk of my hair was still left brown, and on top of that he really chopped up the top that I asked him to leave alone for the most part. Even my new hair dresser told me that it would take months for those layers to grow back in and that they were cut poorly.

Every time I leave the salon I feel like a whole new person! It is filled with the absolute nicest and most skilled professionals out there! It is no surprise that clients come from all over to have their hair done! I would not go anywhere else!!

i've been searching for a good stylist for several years...eddie was recommended by several friends of mine who are just as picky as myself. not only was i blown away by the dry cut he gave me, but the color is so beautiful!! eddie's assistant melissa is the sweetest person....the salon is clean, comfortable and the least bit pretentious. everyone was extremely accomidating. it's nice to see everyone work together professionally as well as they do. there's just a great energy flowing through the place! i would absolutely recommend salon vanity to anyone looking for quality and satisfaction. i promise you they will deliver it.

Had a haircut by the Eddie, the owner. It was expensive like I expected but while he was blowing out my hair he decided to go an talk to this old lady for 30 mins about box hair dyes. He kept saying she comes here every week to find out what boxed hair dye to buy although he doesn't use it. Honestly, I don't care, just finish blowing out my long hair. He is very rude, if I am spending alot of money on my hairstyle, I don't want to be neglected. And I also here that owners are not supposed to accept tips... he eagerly accepted my 50 dollar bill.

I went there for a haircut and got pushed into highlights after being told my hair was "mousy and dull" by the owner ed. Three hundred dollars later my hair looks just the same. The owner ed is in love with himself and is very pushy about what he wants to do with your hair. He needs to tone it down its philadelphia not paris

I am a crazy person about my hair. I have been to over 30+ salons in my life time and I have always felt like my hair could look better. I would do searches online in The Philly area and try to go to the Top Rated Salons. I would always be disappointed by the cut, color, or "better then you service" which I would then hate to go back no matter if i kind of liked it. Salon Vanity was recommended to me and I figured I would give it a shot. I have been going there for over a year now and have recommended the Salon to over 12 people who have had services there and all come out saying the same thing "my hair has never looked this good", no matter what type of hair they have. The staff and atmosphere is so welcoming for this high end salon. I go to Eddie who is fabulous and amazing at cut and color. I have never stopped so many times on the street asking "where do you go"?. I wanted to write a review about another service I had done there which has made my "hair" life so much easier. I had the Keratin treatment done by Heather which left my hair smooth, frizz free, and cut my blowdry and style time in half. I don't know how I managed without it. I have had other treatments done that have not worked as well or left my hair damaged, dry, and then had to be cut off. I have wavy and thick hair and now I don't have to use a flat iron, where before I used a flat iron twice a day. I never write these reviews but I felt I had to based on these experiences I have had and so many girls I know always complaining how they hate their hair. With Heather and Eddie you don't have to walk around this city unhappy with you hair ever again. Don't waste your time anywhere else, you will not be disappointed!

Vanity is the best salon in Philly. Eddie did such a great job on my highlights that I received so many compliments from friends and even strangers. The brush blowout is the best! Everyone needs to experience it! I highly recomment Vanity to anyone. You will experience great service and you can also trust that they will make you look beautiful.

i just had my hair done by Heather..i was happy when i left the salon..& especially when i went home to my husband, he asked who did my hair? He thought it looked great & said "you look so much younger"! He doesn't normally comment on my hair, so i was so happy...i especially loved the sitting area, where i sat while my color was processing..it was very cozy & comfortable...there was even drinks & snacks provided & we could enjoy a fun movie!

Heather immediately put me at ease, she is so sweet & friendly. she did exactly what i wanted & i absolutely love my hair. my color & haircut are amazing. the salon is so coo & everyone is very friendly. i had such a great experience & cannot wait to go back!

I am a review virgin. I have never posted a comment to a public site but I feel compelled to recommend Salon Vanity since I have been going there for just over 2 years now!

You know that you have had a good haircut when you want to take your new do out on a date. Whenever I make an appointment with Eddie, I make plans for drinks with my girlfriends! He listens to me but always keeps my ideas for a new cut in check by making sure it works with the way my hair falls and that it will frame my face the right way. He knows how to cut layers perfectly for the way my hair falls. It is hard to find a stylist that you truly trust. Eddie is so talented and the Salon Vanity staff is so friendly and accommodating. I always recommend Eddie and Salon Vanity -- especially since I get so many compliments on my hair!

Well, i didn't know what to expect when i went to salon vanity...i followed Heather from her previous salon...i was very pleasantly surprised when i arrived there..everyone was so sweet & helpful...Heather seems to fit right in...she is such an amazing stylist & i would follow her anywhere...the salon being so wonderful was an added bonus!! She did such an awesome job on my color & cut, that when i went downstairs to the restaurant for lunch, everyone was asking me where i got my hair done!! That always feels good!

I had this done by Heather last month and my hair looks fantastic. I have had my hair straightened by every method known to man, and this is by far the best. Other methods leave the hair dry and damaged, but this leaves it silky smooth! Amazing! I have had so many compliments since I have had this done (even from guys).

When I get caught in the snow, rain, or humidity, my hair doesn?t frizz up at all?and it is super-easy to blow-dry.

I am totally hooked on this service and now all off my nappy headed friends want to get this done too!

I'm very picky when it comes to someone cutting my hair. I've known Heather for 6 years and she is the only person I trust to cut my hair. I met her in Jersey while she was working for another salon. When I found out two weeks ago that she moved to Salon Vanity, I freaked out because no one can cut hair like Heather and I've never been in the city before. I am definately not a city girl; however, Salon Vanity changed my mind. The environment is perfect and the people are very nice, (the receptionist stayed on the phone with me until I found the parking garage). Salon Vanity is highly recommened to those who want only the best!!!

I was going to Philadelphia for a business meeting and decided to do something fun on the side. I had read about Salon Vanity in a copy of Allure and made an appointment for a cut, highlights, and blowdry by Edmondo Blando. The salon was beautiful and not pretentious at all. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and insisted that I help myself to drinks (including a selection of wine!) and had a movie playing in the back room. Very comfortable, I must say! Edmondo was a genius with his shears. He worked quickly, yet surely, and made my cut and color fit well with my face shape and skin tone. I can't wait to find another opportunity to visit Philadelphia just so I can see Edmondo again!

Pros: Great location, can't beat the service.

Cons: I wish I could have added my tip onto my bill that I paid with a credit card, instead of cash only tips, because I would have tipped more!

I went to Salon Vanity for my second haircut (this time with highlightgs). My first haircut was wonderful and so easy to care for. I got more compliments than I have ever gotten on a haircut. I was worried that honey and caramel highlights would not be the best for me since my hair is naturally light blonde. My sister said that I had a hair color that most people pay for but I put myself in Eddie's hands and he did not disappoint.
My hair is looking better than ever. They sell a wonderful product called "Shuga" with a great mousse and a spray in hair thickener. It was a little pricey at $200 (plus tip) for haircut and color but I will just try and space out my visits. There are no cookie cutter haircuts here, everyone is an individual. Don't be afraid to make a switch - I am so glad I did.

Pros: Beatutiful salon on second floor overlooking Walnut St., staff is very professional but very nice, you won't feel intimidated when you walk through the door.

Cons: There are no cons!

I travel over 60 miles to Salon Vanity. Professional without being condescending or hauty, the salon is hip, sleek and accomodating. Jeannine is fast, but listens well and provides me with lots of functional options for my rather coarse and rambunctious hair. She keeps me low on chemicals & products, but high on style & care. Great locale, though a flight of stairs up. The greet staff can be a little preoccupied, but it in no way reflects the attention and skill of the stylists. Great place, priced competitively, don't hesitate.

From NYC new in the area, I read all your reviews (love citysearch!!) and I have to agree its by far the best place to have your hair done. My stylist was brilliant the cut was fabulous as well as my highlights! The Staff makes you feel at home... very comfy place. Most salons/stylist in the area are stuck up there was not an ounce of arrogance here. one problem they had one too many desserts and im on a diet ;)

I just moved to Philadelphia and did not want to waste time trying to find a good stylist, so I checked the directory in Allure magazine and they listed Edmondo Blando in Philadelphia as a rising star. It was easy to get a Saturday appointment and there was no wait when I arrived. Edmondo studied my naturally curly hair and gave me a fantastic cut that works with my natural curl and looks great. I can just wash and go! The color and highlights look natural and the products he used were gentle to my hair. I highly recommend Edmondo and Salon Vanity for their expertise and professionalism. Their prices are comparable to what I paid in the South for the same services.

I have been looking for a stylist for 8 months just moved from LA and found Vanity from citysearch.
I love my haircut and color its by far the best service I ever had...and the most compliments i ever had. My stylist studied my hair and recommended a Rx of products which i have been using for 2 weeks (love the morracan oil) and wow what a difference ... I actually waited to write this because i wanted to see if the products made a difference for me ..being from LA I had my share of overpriced stylists and products to compare to and this place is amazing- philadelphia is lucky to have a salon like this one - they really care and you are not just a number...can not wait to get my hair done again-even though it still looks great

For an average cut, $60 was way too expensive. I was not impressed. I wonder if they make up their own reviews. I was excited to go to this salon after reading these reviews. I came home and read them again after my haircut and they all sound the same. Don't believe everything you read. Do real people leave novels like these? I'll keep mine brief- SAVE your $$$$- go SOME WHERE ELSE.

I firmly believe that there is no better stylist around than Janine at Salon Vanity. Her talent, energy, caring, friendliness and experience give you full confidence that, in her hands, your hair is going to look its best. Other than myself, I know several folks who also see Janine, and every single person is "over the moon" with her amazing ability and tremendous personality. She is the "real deal" and makes every trip to Salon Vanity a happy event. At this point, I simply will not let anyone else touch my hair. Why take "second best" when you can access Janine? How lucky we are to have her in Philadelphia. She is a treasure!

Getting a haircut once sounded about as appealing to me as having a dentist appointment UNTIL I started seeing Eddie at Salon Vanity. I used to be the girl who cried after every snip... but Eddie and everyone at the salon have completely changed that. Now, getting my hair cut is something I look forward to all of the time. I know with certaintly that I won't feel leaving upset, dissapointed, as if I my desires were just ignored, like my hair is too short (tear), or--worst of all!--bored with my hair. Somehow my hair went from flat, unhealthy, and frankly "blah" to healthy, styled, beautiful, and the envy of my friends. A lot of my good friend have, in fact, started seeing Eddie and their hair looks fabulous, too. Also, the reasonable price I pay for a haircut at Salon Vanity is some of the best money I spend on myself, and I am satisfied knowing that it goes to Eddie's business because he's so welcoming, nice, and a pleasure to see whenever I'm there. Running in to get a quick bang-trim (a "fringe benefit" as he calls it) is great. Words of wisdom from a former haircut-phobic turned Salon Vanity devotee: you'll be the happiest with your hair you've ever been if you give it a shot. Go!

Salon Vanity is the BEST salon in the city... hands down... The salon is gorgeous inside... and everyone that works there goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome... EDDIE IS THE BEST STYLIST I HAVE EVER EVER HAD! AMAZING! I recently went from dark dark brown to blonde and my hair is the healthiest it has ever been...his haircuts are great and he never does anyhting that you don't want.. and the blowouts are AMAZING my hair looks like I could be in a magazine! I get compliments the mintue I walk out the door... and girls are always asking who does my hair... I hate to give it up! ha... He always listens to what you want and you leave with what you want never anything weird! I WILL NEVER go to anyone else again!!!!!!! Thanks Eddie and Vanity!

Every time and I mean every single time I leave Janines chair and walk out of the salon people just look at me (and it feels really good) ..... they are thinking "beautiful hair " !!! Some will stop me and ask who does my hair, I HATE TO TELL YOU PEOPLE ---ITS ---JANINE @ Vanity, because i want her all to myself :P
Incredible she can blowdry my hair to perfection in 10 minutes , and my color is so shiny and blonde, perfect highlights every time. I can tell a Janine head when I see one ..its that signature blowdry and buttery blonde that only her clients have ... i guess you'll have to go and find out what i am talking about!!!

I had the Keratin treatment (aka brazilian relaxer) , my hair was so fried, frizzy, curly, uncontrolable, just horrible and this treatment did wonders for my hair. its all NATURAL and NO CHEMICALS are used!
i wish i had a before and after pic to show you guys online
my hair is silky, soft, smooth, shiny, not bone straight and flat - i am shocked at the results - i really did not buy all the talk about this treatment at first but I did it anyway -- thank god i did...I LOVE IT!

Finally a hairdresser I can trust! I've been searching for a new stylist since becoming completely fed up with another well-known salon in the area. I saw Alyson for the first time yesterday and ended up with the best haircut I've ever had. Alyson is funny & attentive, she explains everything she is doing and gives great advice on how to care for and style your hair. What a great experience....I'll definately be back!

I went to salon vanity for cut & highlights with eddie - (i really needed hair help i have been to every so called master stylist and the list goes on) that i did not want another stuck up stylist to act like they are the best and damage my hair but i had to give him a chance.
i got the best treatment and the best hair cut and highlights, he was so down to earth & nice & great talent
Ever since i get at least 1 compliment a day on my hair
i also went to Alyson because he was really busy and she was wonderful and very talented also
my hair cut looked amazing and she was so much fun

so everyone at vanity does amazing work!!!!!!!!
and if you are having a bad day you can walk out in the best mood!!!!

I was looking for a new stylist and my girlfriend recommended Alyson to me. I was a lil nervous only cause I am so picky with my hair, but after her doing my hair just once I will never let anyone else touch my hair again. Alyson is hands down the best stylist I have ever been too. I completely trust her with my hair. I have never once walked out of the salon not LOVING my hair! I also can?t say enough about the salon. Everyone at Salon Vanity is so nice and treats me like gold from check in to check out! Exactly what a salon should do with their clients. i have nothing but the best to say about this place!!!!!!!!!
Its a great atmosphere, its fun, relaxing, hip, always a pleasure, they treat you like gold,
and i always wondered " what happend to customer service" well at Vanity its top notch its all about me
and as it should be; at everyother salon you pay all this money and its like here is your bill get out
at Vanity its just pure pleasure .... I leave happy everytime. I even feel like tipping the receptionist!

As far as hair goes I have been to every Salon in philadelphia no one does hair like Eddie. He is a gem

after unreliable service at every upscale and in between scale salon in the philadelphia area, I found my one and only. Janine is amazing!!!! I have very curly and hard to manage hair that has been over processed and miscolored. Janine has been a godsend. She gives THE BEST and FASTEST blowdry I have ever had,, and my hair is always silky and full. As if this wasn't good enough, she can do it in 20 minutes! Also, I had a very unfortunate experience with another hairstylist, who ruined my color. Janine not only repaired it, she made my color better than I ever imagined it could be. This salon is the magic combo of luxury with absolutely NO ATTITUDE, everyone who works there is down to earth, knowledgable, and professional. I have found my ideal salon, and would recommend Janine to anyone without reservation.
