I only get to NYC so often, but every time I do, I have to eat at Spice Cove at least two times before I leave. I started going here a few years back, recommended by my little sister who lives in the city, it NEVER disappoints. I love the Pre Fixe's here, they give a great variety while still very reasonably priced. The Shrimp Bhindi, the lamb and beef dishes, OMG, everything is great.

The hidden gem here is the ice cream. I love coming here, it's my favorite meal in the city.

This has to be the best restaurant on the block. And that is some stiff competition. The vegetable samosas are wonderful, chalk full of fresh thick cut veggies. Reasonable price and wonderful service. A favorite for any meal.

So, I went back (like I said I would) and just want to note that in addition to the great food ... the staff is genuinely attentive and pleasant. It's a personal touch that is much appreciated when grabbing a bite to eat ... honestly, a smile and welcoming personality makes all the difference,Thanks Spice Cove ! :-)

unpretentious and cute little joint. nice friendly service and clean. the decor is nice and cozy while beimg chic and modern for an indian joint. not like the dreary places that filled the block. the prix fixe for $10 is an amazing deal. although there is cheaper on the block, i'll pay the extra few bucks for the ambiance. not a bad date place without shelling out huge bucks. vindaloo and tikka marsala is pretty good but the pita naan leaves a bit to be desired. i think you have to spend a few more bucks for the good stuff. some loser complained incessantly in a previous review. don't listen to it. you're not gonna get much better in this city unless you spend huge bucks.

i had many good dinners there and plan to go back there with my gf. it's her fave...

Pros: ambiance at a budget, best deal in city

Cons: tight tables. sucky naan

.

went to this restaurant based on good reviews and was utterly shocked with the food, place has a nice decor but the food and service is no where near to it, asked for naan, was presented with a hot pita bread and the server started agruing with me saying it was naan, food was bland without any taste. the management needs to make some changes for sure. thats why it should be NO SPICE CAVE not spice cove.

I really love this place, and I tell everyone about this place, about the delicious foods, the neat and beautiful atmosphere, the friendly staff's services..everything,even the restroom! but the problem is, since the place is so small and the restaurant gets packed so easily, especially on weekends, I would really recommend coming here on weekdays

I love going to sixth street and trying out various Indian restaurants. Although I've never committed to just one, Spice Cove has put an end to my wandering eye. The samosas are the best I've ever had- delicious but not too greasy. I highly suggest trying the chicken biriyani- it's out of this world- and that's not just the generous portions of wine talking. The decor is exotic yet cozy the restaurant has a warm friendly feel to it. I have avoided taking my boyfriend to an Indian restaurant because he is so fussy about trying new food but I'm taking him tonight because I know he will love the food at Spice Cove- it really is some of the best Indian food I've had on 6th street- and alot cheaper than some of those oher restaurants!

I saw this place one time passing by on 6th street. That night my boyfriend and I decided to try it out. We've been back at least 6 times. The food is fresh, the service is great, the place is very cute and cosy and the specials are awesome! It's a great neighborhood place for a weeknight dinner.

Very good food the service was very hospitable. The name sounded very enticing so we decided to hop in as one of the staff of this cozy place explained the menu very well at the entrance and was very confident of the service and the food, well and it was a memorable Tuesday. Surely one of the best Indian Restaurants on that street very clean and good wine based cocktails, good appetizers, and excellent entrees, good music. Will surely want to visit this place again with more friends.

This is the first time I am writing a review, I really felt like I must share this with others. This place has the most delicious Indian food I've eaten in the city, I am a spice and curry lover. As we were sitted down by a friendly host, the services from then on was warm and gratifying. We ordered samosa and tikka appetizers to start, both turns out to be amazingly delectable. The chicken tandoori that I ordered was so tender, full of flavours and perfectly marinated, we also tried their masala which is extremely flavourful, perfectly spiced & totally brought me to heaven just at the first bite of it. Since I was there with a big group we ordered a variety of naan they have from the menu, which is a soft puffy flat bread by the way, to dip it in the curry savouring everything we'd have on the dish. Instead of rice, we had their shrimp biryani, extremely delicious, it was simply the best biryani I ever had in USA. We could smell the aroma of cardamom, bayleaves, saffron & god knows how many different fresh flavours coming out with the steam when every single dish was being served on our table. The food is really their speciality, the service was warm, friendly & helpful. The decor is so tastefully done, even their bathrooms are done very beautifully (yes, I do observe too much at times lol, but i need cleanliness). I still have to try quite a few things from their wonderful menu. Since I also like seafood, next time I am going to try thier whole red snapper, tandoori shrimp & if we still have room, a lamb biryani for sure.

This is the only indian food place I will go to anymore. The ambiance is perfect: low, amber glow, cozy seating, open airy window in the summer. The waitstaff has mastered the balance of being super attentive without being annoying, and the food is delicious and cheap! Try the Prix Fix dinner or lunch--4 course meal for 9.95 or any of the other well priced options on the menu. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant--they have made a regular out of me!

What a great place ! The food was phenomenal and our server recommended a perfect bottle
of wine with the curries. It was quite a bit noisy though and we had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated eventhough we've made reservation earlier before, but the wonderful food and the exceptional service made up for it easely . I can't wait to go back here . Unfortunately the place is too small , so I only be able to visit on special occasion.

I have been to Spice Cover many times, and I've always been very pleased. I am in the food business, and this is one of the only places that I return to again and again. The atmosphere is one of the most peaceful and least tacky of any of the places on Curry Row, and the servers always refill water glasses without even being asked. Though I've never brought a boyfriend, I also think it's quite romantic. But it's the food that's exceptional; it's some of the freshest and most delicious Indian food I've ever had. Sunday through Thursday there's a 4 course prix fixe for $9.95 that's a marvel of a bargain. Exceptional.

My roommate and I discovered Spice Cove a few months ago, and we have been going as often as we can for lunch since then. The lunch special is cheap and includes several courses, and everything tastes great! The decor, for the price, beats out the other Indian places on 6th Street, and the waitstaff is very accommodating and friendly.

Went for dinner last Sat and was greeted with great hospitality. The waiter was friendly and we were seated comfortably by the window even though the whole place was packed! The food was interesting(it was our first time trying Indian cuisine) and we loved the food for the rich spices and flavor that were used. The crab cake appetizer was amazing, also the cardamon spiced roasted duck salad were incredible. Not to mention when our entree came, which was the lamb bhuna and beef tikka masala were not dissapointing as well. Every dish here was a new experience and the flavors exploded with every bite! We enjoyed the food because it's different and it's obvious a lot of care goes into making each dish unique here. Service was good; food was great. I would definetely recomend this restaurant to everyone and make this place one of our favourites in NYC!

On a street with a slew of Indian restaurants, I definately recommend Spice Cove. The food was delicious, vindaloo was spicy, portions were decent sized-- we were not stuffed, but we were very satisfyed. The $9.95 prix fix is an amazing value! The service was wonderful and the timing between courses was perfect-- we were not rushed, as in many restaurants, but we didn't feel as though we were waiting forever either. Just a great dining experience!!!

Had the prix fixe dinner there today for $9.95 and what a deal! Everything from the starters to the dessert was delicious and the service phenomenal. We asked for the table by the open window - very nice on a warm summer's evening. Service was very quick and the waitstaff were very attentive people, and very customer-oriented without being too pushy unlike some Indian restaurants. A definite try.

I went to Spice Cove on a Sunday with three friends. What a great experience! The service, food, and ambience were great. We had the $9.95 prix fixe, which is available Sunday thru Thursday. The tomato lentil soup was zesty, the vegetable samosa had a nicy flaky crust, and my main entree (lamb curry) was presented beautifully on the plate. The ambience was simple and elegant. Spice Cove is a good place to have a nice meal and enjoy conversation with friends.

One of "NYC'S most sophisticated dining spot" just might be this "oh-so-romantic" restaurant, tucked in the hideway of Lower East Side. The interior design makes you "gapped in awe!" and you'll see that it's "one of the best architecturally". The idea of this contemporary cuisine shows throughout the atmosphere and the food presentation is just so beautiful.Try their special's like the spiced mussels which is infused with cardammon and coconut flavor, makes you coming back for more! Their Chicken Tikka Masala was the BEST! compare to any other Indian restaurant you could find on 6st. They uses only the most authentic spices and herbs to make this robust flavor in the dishes. Overall, it's affordable, beautiful atmosphere and a nice place to "bring your first date" without breaking your pockets!

My friend and I recently went to Spice Cove after hearing of its opening 1 month ago. The space was cozy and well decorated. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. When I asked for spicy I got spicy! I have been to almost all of the restaurants on E 6th street and this is by far the best experience I have had. Anyone looking for a good value and a quiet, quaint atmosphere will find it in Spice Cove. happy eating.

I believe they just open and offering free red wine as a promotion. There special is spiced mussel, coconut shrimp, and fish filet.

I just went there on Valentines with my date and we are very satisfied! From the outside..you can obviously see that this place is not like any other Indian restaurant. I have to admit that we are just as impressed as we stepped inside. The atmosphere is great! Cosy, romantic, warm..even their restroom got me a little excited!! Mostly important; the foods is yummy and not too greasy. Our waiter was friendly and not too pushy. I'd just have to say that its well worth a try and I will surely be back for more!
