Over the course of 15 years, I watched my father-in-law drop many, many thousands at the Schlock and Slime. The food and service are mediocre. There's always a grease slick or grit on even a freshly bussed table. He knew it was an overpriced dive. We all did. But he liked the view.
Recently he passed away. After the service, his widow took the remaining eleven family members there for an early dinner. The place was empty. She wanted us to all sit together, and asked if they would push two tables together near the window where she had spent so many evenings with her late husband. "No," brusquely replied Sharon, the manager. I explained the situation - a grieving elderly widow, and a long time customer. "Sorry, that's our policy," she snapped.
Dock and Dine is one of a quartet of four similar deep-fry dives operated by JTK Management. I thought about contacting JTK - that's Jon "T" Kodama - to complain about his cretinous manager Sharon, but upon learning she had been antagonizing customers for nearly 2 years, I realized Kodama must be an amateur.
AVOID this dump like the plague. Instead, go across the street to the Saybrook Point Inn. Same view, better food and service, comparable prices, no Sharon. It's a no-brainer.

Dock & Dine is part of my history growing up on the shoreline. Our family would eat there often and always when guests arrived from out of town.
The quality and quantity of food is tops. The view of the Connecticut River as it meets the Sound is spectacular.

The Dock & Dine is a very casual, comfortable seafood restaurant that is right on the watre in Old Saybrook. The food and the service are good and there is plenty of parking for autos and boats.

The nautical atmosphere of the restaurant is very comfortable. It is right on the water, where the Connecticut River and Atlantic Ocean meet. The main dining room is surrounded by water and it almost looks like you're on a boat. The food is mediocre and overpriced. It's worth checking out though because of the atmosphere and location.
