Dr did not even come into the room. He stood at the door and told me to come back in a few days. Said the weight was fine. He was filling in for our regular Dr. Two weeks later I was charged for a newborn assessment. My insurance was charged, and myself. A total of $180. He never touched my child. This is unacceptable, spoke with the office staff, and they do not believe me. Reporting hi, to my insurance company, and changing Drs. I hate leaving her, because she is great. I do not feel comfortable anymore with the office.

Dr. Wheeler has treated my children, now 12 and 10 since birth. There has never been a time he hasn't worked them in when it is an emergency and his staff is top notch. I would recommend Dr Wheeler to anyone with children.

Dr. Wheeler is so awesome. He was on call in the hospital for the pediatrician that my OB recommended and was so nice we just kept seeing him. He is very kind and caring. Extremely relaxed. I think I called him The Baby Whisperer once as my son was crying and as soon as Dr. Wheeler held him and talked to him, he stopped. He is also very respectful of me as a parent and my decisions. Love Dr. Wheeler!

I ALWAYS recommend Dr. Wheeler to anyone needing a great pediatrician! My son has been a patient of Dr. Wheeler's for almost 7 years now...since infancy. Dr. Wheeler and his entire office have always been exceptional to my family. Even when we moved from Bedford to Carrollton, I refused to find another pediatrician. Dr. Wheeler and his staff have gone above and beyond in being helpful. As a new mom, I called their office dozens of times with what must have seemed like silly questions and they were always kind and helpful. They have always tried to make even the toughest appointments for my son easier to handle. My son has had ear tubes, MRSA infections, and a host of other problems that resulted in lots of needles, poking, proding and the like, but because the doctors, nurses and staff were always willing to do whatever it took to create a safe and caring environment for my son, I always felt that even the hardest things weren't so hard after all! I can always get in to be seen in a reasonable time frame. I have no problem getting information or having my questions answered. The on call staff is always prompt in returning my after hours calls. Overall, I could never say enough good things about this doctor, the doctors that share his practice, and the staff.

Whenever something is wrong with my child-or even when something is unusual-the first thing I think of is "call Dr. Wheeler." No matter what it is, he helps me stay calm and explains all the alternatives patiently. His nurses stay late so they can answer all calls the same day.

I finally had to change doctors because I could not trust Dr. Wheeler any longer. My son had pertussis (whooping cough). I took him to Wheeler; the nurse practitioner literally laughed at me when I told her I thought my son had pertussis. She said, "Pertussis has been eradicated." She never even tested my son. I did not agree with her opinion so I called the CDC. They said to take my son to the ER. He DID have pertussis and it is a notifiable disease. I told Dr. Wheeler that I thought my other son had adenoid problems because he had trouble breathing and made smacking noises when he ate. Wheeler said that all kids make disgusting noises when they eat. He did not even examine my son. It turns out my son DID have problems that will require surgery!! In my opinion, Dr. Wheeler is the worst pediatrician I've ever encountered, and he hires equally incompetent staff.

Dr. Wheeler is worth the 45 minute drive from our home to his office. My kids love going to see him and he is always happy to see the kids. We had moved away for 2 years and I went to 3 different pediatricians that couldn't come close to the medical care and bedside manner. He's has an outstanding combination of leading edge medical knowledge and communication with kids and parents alike. His staff and nurse practitioner are just as thorough and likable. Scheduling is easy, and if you're not sure if your kids need a doctor, you can ask for a nurse to call you and she'll go over the symptoms and give you "at home" care advice or schedule an appointment for you.

Dr Wheeler has been our pediatrician for years. He has always gone above and beyond for our kids. My oldest had chronic strep that developed into rheumatoid arthritis. He helped us arrange care with an infectious disease dr and got us set up with the arthritis team at Scottish Rite. Because of his extra efforts in diagnosing and treating her, she is doing great today! I highly recommend him for anyone seeking a caring and knowledgeably pediatrician.

Genuine and personable. I had my baby at HEB and my OB's used him as her Pediatrition. I had a hard time with the first round of shots for my baby. A RN had administerd them. I saw him around town and mentioned it too him, and even though he was not on the clock, he really quieted my fears and reservations about returning for round 2. He seems like a good Doc.

I found Dr. Wheeler purely by accident. He was close to my home and work, plus took my insurance. From the very first visit, he made my daughter and I feel right at home. He is one of those doctors who takes the time to meet you, really listens to what your concerns are and explains things on a human level. He jokes with my daughter when she needs to relax and is very serious with her when she needs to listen. The office is very kid-friendly and his staff is top-notch! I have never had to wait long for an appointment.I highly recommend that you select Dr. Wheeler if you want your child to enjoy visits to the doctor.

Dr. Wheeler has been pediatrician to my children for six years, from the time the youngest was an infant. The kids actually LIKE going to the doctor. He usually sees us promptly at our appointment time. He has a separate area for "well children" and has a fish tank and videos in the waiting area. When my child is ill, he can almost always fit her in the same day. If they both need to be seen, he'll set up an appt for both to be seen at once. When he is not available, an appointment with the nurse practitioner or physician's assistant is available. On top of all that, his office is just minutes from home and school.

PROS: Great with kids, always has appointment available for sick kids
CONS: No complaints
