Thoughtfully curated. The excellent permanent collection + some really interesting rotating exhibitions make this a can't miss experience. If Rodin is your man, you are definitely in luck. They have a very large collection both indoors and out with the highlight being the impressive Gates Of Hell in the Rodin sculpture garden. The cafe is delicious and mostly organic. The shop is nice too. A great, cheap day out with better art than the SFMOMA, The DeYoung or The Palace of The Legion of Honor and on a more human scale.

Outside the center is a world famous Rodin sculpture garden--Stanford moved all the pieces from around the campus into this central location when the center opened. Inside, there are several permanent exhibits and some visting ones. You can easily sign up for their mailing list to receive notices of new exhibits. And make sure to stop in the cafe for lunch--it is very good.

The Cantor Arts Center is located near Campus Drive in the Stanford Campus. It is open from Tuesday through Sunday and has permanent and temporary exhibits.

The Chinese jade exhibit is one of my favorites.

The building itself is beautiful.

When you tire of walking around you can stop at the cafe for coffee or a meal. The food served is mostly organic.

The bookstore is filled with books plus jewelry, vases, and items of interest to children.

A great place to spend the day in.
