I have been growing my hair to donate to Locks Of Love for 5 years....finally decided to cut it off and was a little scared. Chose this salon/stylist from the high ratings on Citysearch and was not disappointed. Amanda made cutting 11 inches off my hair a wonderful experience. Great cut and I will be returning when I get the courage to go even shorter.

Walking in, I was impressed with how hip and cute the inside of the salon was. My hairstylist Liza was the best! I have very thin and cottony blond hair that I've never liked, and Liza gave me the best cut ever! For the first time in my life I had a haircut that I liked. I strongly recommend Liza AND Urban Betty Salon... you won't be sorry!

The haircuts are so 'over the top' here that I have continued to make regular trips to Austin for them after moving to east Texas. Jamie is the best!!

Went for a color and ended up with bright roots, 20 shades lighter thant the rest of my hair. They tried to fix it but it still didn't look good. I was very disappointed in the final result after being there for about 5 hours. I thought they were over priced.

Not only did Sierra give me a cut I LOVE and great color but she made the whole experience fun! We all know highlights take forever but with her the time just flew by! The salon is cute, clean and comfortable not stuffy and pretentious like other places.

I've seen Jamie at Urban Betty 4 or 5 times for haircuts and color. She's given me an edgy but easy to manage haircut that really suits me. Her color work is fun, I'm glad she's versatile with her color ideas. Best of all, she's friendly and happy, so it's always fun to see her again! Thanks so much Jamie! :)

Jaime is the BEST hair dresser and colorist there is! Believe me? I had been a client of my sister, who is also a hair dresser for years. And consistently been unhappy with creativity or lack there of, her attitude about what SHE wanted to do with my hair? not me, and her lack of knowledge. I had heard that Urban Betty was one of if not the best salon in town. I decided to fire my sister as my hair stylist and finally see someone knew. I picked Jaime from her profile online? she oozes creativity, warmth and patience. Nervously, I went to her that first time and she did something my sister never did? sit down with me and listen to what MY goals and desires were for my hair. And she has been doing exactly that ever since. The last three times I went to see her I requested something totally different from the previous time, and each time she said it was no problem, had a can-do attitude, and each time my hair was a knock-out! She is such a kind person, easy to connect to, and on top of today?s latest techniques. I really appreciate her work, she has transformed the way I see myself with, finally, a hair cut and color I can be proud of? that?s totally me, executed perfectly by Jaime! Believe me, it took some guts to cut the cord between me and my sister as my stylist, but? if anyone out there is staying in a stylist relationship with someone you feel ?obligated? to, all I can say is get out! It is worth it if you?re not 100% happy. And 100% happy is what Jaime will make you feel!

I have been getting my hair cut from Megan for many years. I own Teo Gelato in the same shopping center and I have to say it is such a nice addition to the center. Everyone who works at Urban Betty is friendly and fun. The establishment is clean and all the hairstylist know what they are doing. Give Urban Betty a try. You won't be disappointed but if you are the owner is on site and she will assist you with what you need.

Stephanie at Urban Betty has a great eye for color and cuts. Great attention to detail, always on time, really listens to what you say! I have been going to Urban Betty and Stephanie for more than two years and I have been very happy. The salon is cute and friendly and prices are very reasonable.

I can't imagine a nicer atmosphere in which to spend an hour getting a hair cut nor a more affable stylist than Sierra at Urban Betty. From the moment she starts combing the wet hair till it is blown-dry, Sierra makes a study of what I want and how best to make it work with how my hair grows. I love a cut that I can either let go free after washing or one that i can style. Sierra is focused and cares what I want to have done. She has also colored a friend's hair who said that no one had been able to get the color right. With her flaming red hair and ready smile, plus her interesting conversational abilities, Sierra is a unique experience in the realm of stylists. She is a stylist I can trust to make every effort to achieve a great cut.

I went today and got a great color and cut by Sierra. Urban Betty is in a great shopping area, easily accessible. Plenty of parking. Sierra was very friendly and talented. She colored and cut my hair exactly as I wanted it. She didn't rush and made sure to ask me questions about my style and offer advice. The entire staff seemed very friendly and I saw a lot of people leaving very happy. The prices vary depending on who does your hair. Citysearch has a coupon for 20% off for new customers and I used it and saved which I happily gave back as a tip. I will definitely be back to Urban Betty.

I have been going to Amanda for about a year now and I adore her. Not only does she do the best color I have ever had, we have so much fun while she is doing it. I always walk out looking fab. My cut and color are always modern. I am not sure if this matters to you in a stylist but Amanda is just a really good person. I consider her a friend and she will always hold a special place in my heart after she did my wedding day hair. It was PERFECTION and she even texted me later to give me some much needed encouragement. Love her.

I was super nervous about getting my hair done, first of all, because I'm very picky about hairdressers and secondly because I decided to get highlights and I had never colored my hair before. I didn't really know what I wanted before I walked in the door and asked Liza for her opinion and she gave it to me honestly and frankly! I definitely appreciated that and absolutely felt at ease with her. My hair color and cut are both amazing! I'm growing my hair out and Liza really gave me the perfect cut and I think it will grow out very well. Basically, she gave me exactly what I was looking for without me giving her any direction. She gave me a flattering cut and color! The products used are great, the salon is very cute and relaxed. Go to Urban Betty! It's worth the money (cuts are too expensive!).

Just in time for Valentine's Day, I'd like to profess my love for Urban Betty and Jamie, the talented & fun stylist extraordinaire. Like many others, I was new to the area, searching for a reliable and affordable stylist. I found Jamie and was thrilled after my first visit (with both the cut AND color)...the 3 visits that followed left me equally satisfied. It took me almost four years to find a good hair stylist in Austin and now that I?ve found Lisa at Urban Betty, I won?t go anywhere else. Lisa is an artist when it comes to hair! She knows exactly how to give me the look that I want. I?ve had so much fun getting new looks that I?ve been there three times in the last four months. Before I went to Lisa, the only person that I would trust with my hair was my stylist back in San Diego, and I?ve been living in Austin for four years, (a long time to go without a new look). The best part about Lisa is that she is very honest about what styles will and won't work for me. At first I wanted bangs, but this would never work with my cowlick. I went from my really long flat boring hair to the cutest little bob. She even showed me how to style my hair myself so that I could have that perfect look every day! I would certainly recommend Lisa to everyone!

I went to Urban Betty last week on a recommendation from a friend. I had read such great things about Liza on this site I decided to see what the fuss was all about! I went in for an all over color and cut. I went in with fairly light blonde hair and came out with the most gorgeous chestnut brown! She knew exactly what would look good on me! As for my cut we cut several inches off to form the cutest "bob" style haircut! It's so easy to manage and just really looks great! I couldn't be happier that I listed to my friends advice and saw Liza. I will definitely be back! Thanks so much Urban Betty and Liza!

I went to see Jamie after I spent $600.00 and 8 months trying to fix my hair color. I usually have it different shades of blonde and after one day or dying it myself, I needed help. So after months and months and dollar after dollar was spent at other salons, I gave up.
Then I found the BEST salon listed in CitySearch in Austin, which was Urban Betty. I read the reviews and had to get in with Jamie. Two weeks later I was there.
It was amazing. She is amazing. She fixed my hair and for a fraction of the cost I had spent in the past.
Please, if you are looking for a new stylist or just a quick haircut or color, SEE HER. I adore her. She is now my forever stylist in Austin!

I am not the type of gal who is willing to drop alot of money on a haircut at some fancy salon. Although, as I get older, I am discovering the importance of finding someone with whom I can work, someone who will listen to me and really hear me. I am looking for a professional who can hear about me and what I generally want/need and be creative to come up with her own unique cut for me that reflects my style and personally.

I SCORED BIG when I met Jamie at Urban Betty!! FIrst off, I called at 10am on New Years Eve hoping by some off chance she'd have an opening. The reception stated tht she did not, but she would talk to Jamie because Jamie is known to stay later to fit people in. Jamie called back within 20 minutes saying yes, definitely, she could fit me. I find that to be graet customer service for a new client!
Not only is Jamie great at what she does but she is down to eart and personable as well. I felt right at home alongside her in her jeans and t - not dressed to the 9s overdone (in all black) with oveerpowering smells of perfume, makeup, or hairspray.
Jamie is a real person who understands real people's lives. That's why she offers a special discount rate for students. Living in a college town, this caught my attention. Jamie said she does this because "I remember being broke and looking for a decent place to go get my hair done." She is down-to-earth, yet just as chic, saavy and hip as you expect from a young stylist.
I ended up with a super cute, hip, chunky cut that got me compliments all night - and even a special someone for a NYE kiss. Way to go! I will certainly be going to Jamie again and again. In fact, I think I may have finally settled down with one person...it's been a long time since that happened!

Go see Jamie! She's the BEST! :)

So after reading all the reviews of Urban Betty, I made my appointment with Liza expecting her to appear in a sparkling bubble of magic with a huge opalescent dress, a wand and a tiara, ready to weave her magic spell upon my hair.
Wrong!
I got a down to earth, funny,normal, talented artist who takes her craft and her job and making her customers happy very seriously. I got a great haircut, even with some challenges that I presented to her. I am cuter going out than I was coming in, and that's what it's all about, right?

I moved to Austin about 4 months ago and had been wanting to change my hair to a red color. After reading the pages of reviews for Urban Betty I made an appointment with Liza and we set up a meeting to see what we could do to my hair. I have always found pictures of what I wanted my hair to look like but never had anyone be able to do that...til I met Liza. Now I refuse to get my hair done anywhere else. Urban Betty is the greatest salon and very cute and trendy. Not only is the staff friendly and amazing, Liza is the best hair stylist I've ever had. If you are picky about getting your hair done like I was, I strongly recommend Urban Betty!!!!!

I set an appointment with Jamie 3 weeks out so I'd be good to go for the Holidays. However, I forgot I was an event planner and had Holiday parties last Saturday. Duh! Anyway, I called the Wednesday before my scheduled appointment and asked if she had any cancellations for Saturday and she didn't. However, she actually offered to come in on Sunday and do it.----I took her up on it and my hair looks fabulous!!!! Thanks Jamie!

When I first moved to Austin, I dreaded finding a new salon. But the minute I walked into Urban Betty's I knew I had found a really special place.

The atmosphere is comfortable and the stylists are so friendly. AND extremely talented.

I've never had so many compliments on my hair before.

I got my haircut with a highly recommended stylist mentioned on these reviews before the Thanksgiving holiday thinking I would look fabulous with a new haircut for the holidays - I was dead wrong. I had to go this week to get my hair fixed because I could absolutely not get my hair to do anything. It looked horrible! Well I went to another recommended stylist given to me by the ladies at work (who also were asking what happened to my hair), this other stylist (not knowing my situation) tells me, "honey, what happened to your hair? One side is longer than the other....have you been able to style your hair with this cut?" She fixed my hair as best as she could, but suggested I be patient because it would take my hair a good 3-6 months to grow out again.

Maybe I caught her on a bad day or a bad time, nonetheless I HATE MY HAIR!!!!

I love Urban Betty! The shop its self is shabby chic and super cute! Warm welcomes as you come in with the offer of a drink. My Stylist was on time and eager to start. I brought a few pictures with me and after a few minutes of consultation with realistic feed back on what would be achievable, (which I was very thankful for) I was on my way. The end results were far better than I could ever imagine. I am consistently receiving complements on my hair, to the point that I had to go back in and ask for a stack of cards to hand out. I love my hair! Thank you so much Urban Betty!

I am so disappointed. I timed this haircut and color in time for a new drives license picture, family photos, and Thanksgiving. I look worse than I did before I went in. The consultation was terrible. I told her what I was looking for and the stylist started without telling me what she was going to do. She spoke very negatively about the customer that came in before me. The color application hurt my scalp (which as never happened to me in the 15 years I've been getting highlights). She did not check my color while I was under the heater - they just timed it and washed without looking. End result - my hair looks worse than it did when I walked in. I would not pay a dollar for this highlight and color and I paid $130. I'm sick about it. PLUS my drivers license picture looks terrible (for the next 10 years), I canceled the family photographer, and now I look bad for holiday family photos.
I was not listened too and this was not worth the money AT ALL!
((I'm adding this after reading the response. THAT makes me feel a lot better! Plus there are a lot of other positive ratings here. Thank you for hearing my experience and responding.))

I went to Urban Betty for a haircut recently after reading all the great reviews. I was not at all impressed by my experience. The stylist was friendly, but she did not take the time to figure out exactly what I wanted. She gave me choppy layers and did not take out the weight as I requested. She finished the cut in about 15-20 minutes and spent the rest of the time drying it. If you want a basic haircut, this place is fine, but if you want style, I suggest you look elsewhere.

This salon and is just what I was looking for!!! I have been to several salons over the years from Dallas to Vegas and have never been completely happy with the finished product. The color was never exactly what I was looking for. The cut never quite right. Well let me tell you I have finally found hair heaven. Liza is awesome and really takes the time to get your color and cut precise. I told her exactly what I was trying to achieve and she worked her magic. I work in the Beauty industry, and I know that great hair can trully make a woman feel and look beautiful. I will be recommending Liza at Urban Betty to everyone I know and meet.

As a woman my hair is sacred to me! It becomes such an emotional attachment, so when I recently decided to cut it all off, about 9 inches total it was a huge deal! I'd been going to Mia for about a year, and would trust no one but her with my hair. I went in very nervously, and we had a consultation. I brought in several pictures of exactly what I wanted...ie...what celebrity bangs and layers I wanted! Hah! Mia's new assistant gave me a great shampoo, and off it went. My hair that is...it was gone. My hair looks EXACTLY like the pictures I had brought in, and I could not have been happier leaving there! It's amazing! I'd always been scared of texturizing and thinning shears, but Mia really new how to do it! It looks gorgeous and has so much movement. I've also had color done by Mia and it's always beautiful. She's always very good at suggesting colors that would work best for me. So...as always I highly recomment Urban Betty and Mia. They know what they're doing!

I don't like complaining so it took me a few months to decide to write this review. I had heard really good things about this place and the reviews on here were good so...

I came in and the first thing i told my stylist was that I needed 'wash & wear' hair.
She told me that was no problem. Everything went fine until we were done. My hair looked great. I asked her "now how do i make it look this good at home?". her response was something to this effect "well, you need to clip this section and then dry it while using a styling brush, then clip this section and do the same, then clip...use this product and this product..."

This, to me, does not fall under the category of wash and wear. I had told her up front I didn't even own a hair dryer! And I sure wasn't going to go out and buy clips and this and that, nor was I going to spend 30-45 minutes every morning styling my hair. I'm a single mom and grandmother and I just don't have the time to do this.

I was very disappointed. It's great to walk out of a salon looking good but it's really fairly useless if you know you can't reproduce the look at home. I felt that my stylist didn't listen to me at all.

I haven't been able to find a salon or hairdresser that I've felt comfortable with or that has been able to really listen to me and give me what I want until I went into Urban Betty today! Jamie was so wonderful to talk to and did an amazing job. She really listened to me and gave me suggestions to help accomplish what I really wanted. She gave me the color I've been wanting forever, but made it even better by suggesting a few highlights as well. She also actually made my hair look longer, which is amazing. I cannot wait to show off my new do and I can't wait to go back! Jamie is so talented and so fun to talk to and the salon was charming and relaxing...I loved every moment of it. THANK YOU!

I think all girls can agree that the two hardest things to find when you move to a new city is a good gynecologist and a great hair dresser. At least I got one of the two right! I have been a client of Veronica's for over a year now and I LOVE HER and the salon! It is always a good day when I get to go get my hair done! Besides walking out feeling ever more attractive and confident then when you go in, the great atmosphere and staff always make my visits awesome. There is nothing more relaxing than getting your hair done, having a glass of wine, and having a great conversation. Veronica was the first hair dresser that I have had that took the time on my first visit to really sit and talk with me, get an idea of what I was wanting and then making the necessary adjustments to shape and color to give me the hair cut that would look good on ME! She made it such a good first visit that I have not dared go anywhere else. Never have I had so many compliments on my hair. I have the color that I have been trying to get for years and the cut that is easy to manage and perfect for my face. One suggestion though...make your appointment in the afternoon if you can. Drinking wine in the middle of the day is generally frowned upon by employers!

I've been searching and searching! I went to Urban Betty last week and saw Mia. I showed up about 10 minutes early, and she was already avaliable for me! We were doing a color and cut, and picked out some gorgeous shades for the fall. She was very knowlegable about the color line and what would look best on me. We talked about the cut, and she came up with a style and color that would copliment each other. She got to work, and finished quickly. We did some "dimensional" color a cut and style, and I was out of there in about 2 hours. I can honestly say it is the best cut and color I have ever had done! I feel absolutely beautiful and she reassured that before I left! The salon was so cute, and offered beverages and good magazines to read while I was under the dryer. I will be back soon! I have been going to Amanda now for a while after feeling less than satisfied from several different salons in Austin. She is amazing with color and I get compliments on my hair all the time! She is so personable and always remembers what is going on in my life and I look forward to each visit. Wouldn't go anywhere else!

I have tried both Mia and Amanda for haircuts and they do amazing work. I am really impressed with their talent. Moreover, the ambiance at the salon is casual trendy and non pretentious..it has a truly Austin vibe. All of the stylists are down to earth and friendly.

After years of unfortunate salon experiences, I finally found a fabulous colorist/stylist in the massive ocean of Dallas stylists whom I loved and trusted completely. Needless to say, I was traumatized beyond belief when my husband announced that we were being transferred to Austin. As inconvenient as it seemed, I decided that my best bet would be to plan on driving back to Dallas every four or five weeks for my regular appointments. So I did this for a while. But three months after moving, I met a new friend with absolutely gorgeous hair. Not only did her cut appear to perfectly compliment the shape of her face, but her color was unbelievably 'rich' and beautiful. And to top it off (very importantly), her hair was obviously in great condition. I told her about my apprehension in going to an unfamiliar salon and she told me about her stylist, Jamie, at Urban Betty. She raved about Jamie, and assured me that I'd never regret calling for an appointment. And so, I called...and went. I've got to say that it's the best thing that I have done since coming to Austin. Jamie was wonderful! From the moment that we started talking, I begin feeling more relaxed. I felt that Jamie really listened to my preferences (and to my concerns),and was very reassuring. She made a few small recommendations to update my cut, and by the time that she had finished, I was stunned! My color was perfect, and my cut ...incredible!!. For the first time in my life, I actually loved my hair! (I would never before have thought it possible.) Thanks so much Urban Betty for providing Austin with such amazing talent! And a thousand thanks to Jamie for giving me the best hair of my life!! I'll most definitely be back!

A friend with similar (curly) hair recommended Veronica at Urban Betty. I have seen her two times now and am amazed by her ability to take my abstract words and miraculously understand exactly what I want. Veronica does not impose her own approach, but really listens to what you want. It takes experience, skill and talent to work with crazy hair. It also takes an ability to read a client, what they really want. Veronica is also able to provide an objective opinion, so that if you are going in the wrong direction she can give you a little focus. She clearly understands how color works, and what a good cut means. She is very sweet and very fast. I highly recommend her.

I was going to Bradz salon, and hated the long wait and being ignored. I finally got online and found Urban Betty was the best on City Search for color and highlights. So I decided to go there for my birthday. I am soooooo pleased with my entire experience there! I had Mia as my colorist/stylist. I told her that I wanted my hair to be ash blonde, with low lights, and some cool platenum blonde highlights to spice things up a bit. I also told her to do what she wanted with that and make it look great! So she went to work on me and gave me really great highlights, I especially love how she gave me more highlights in the front to frame my face. She also recommended some side-swept bangs which I love! And she kept my hair long as I asked her to... She was such a joy to talk to and was very good at finding things in common as a good stylist should be able to conversate and make the entire experience enjoyable. Go here! I was refered to Urban Betty by my daughter. It took some persuading because I'm pretty picky about my hair. I went in to see Mia, (who my daughter also goes to and loves). She was such a sweet girl, and was so patient while I was trying to explain, in my own "not hairdressing" lingo what it was that I had in mind. She said she was on the same page as me, and went to work. We did some highlights and an all over color, and a cute cut. I'm so pleased with the service I was given. It was fast!! I'm used to being in the salon for over 3 hours, and I was done in less than 2! The colors were perfect, and the cut is even easy for me to maintain on my own at home. I recomend Mia to anyone looking for that perfect easy style with great color!

It usually takes me a while to find "my" hairstylist when I move to a new place...and it is very stressful! But once I met Liza at Urban Betty Salon, I knew my worries were over!
Great haircut in a great atmosphere! Liza is awesome!!

Liza at Urban Betty is the best! I love going in there to get my hair done. She always helps me pick a style and color that I will love. I get the best compliments after I get my hair done there.

Liza was recommended to me by some of my friends. Right away I knew I liked her because she wasn't working with several clients all at the same time. She did an excellent job on my highlights and she gave me a great haircut! I loved the salon's atmosphere too! I will continue to get my hair cut and colored by Liza. This salon is definitely a 5 star rating!

I am VERY particular about who colors my hair. I am a natural dirty blonde, but I like to get highlights. Since I go to UT, I used to drive all the way back home to Houston to get my hair done every couple months. As you can imagine, it got to be quite a hassel. My schedule here made it difficult to go home during the week. I tried a couple of salons here in Austin and had some terrible experiences -- once my hair got completely fried, another time the hair dresser accidently scheduled me for a time when she had 3 other customers so she was doing us all at once!

I asked a girl in my sorority who had a cute blonde bob who does her hair and she said Liza at Urban Betty. I risked trying yet another salon, and I am so glad I did!!! Liza did a perfect job... even better than my person I'd drive to in Houston! All of her focus was on me and my hair. She didn't leave me for another customer, and she paid extra attention to my highlights. If you are a blonde or very particular about getting your hair colored, I would HIGHLY recommend Liza at Urban Betty!!

I couldnt be more happy with my experience with Liza at Urban Betty. Such a sweet, easygoing girl and makes you feel super comfortable. I went in on a Monday which was great since its by appointment only and most of the other stylists are off...Shes great at what she does..I went in not knowing what was gonna be done to my hair and she gave me a cut and colour I love...The best haircut I have ever gotten....She will be my "Go-to girl " for my hair from now on! And as far as booking, she was able to get me in within a week which was way faster then some places I have been to. Great place ...These girls know what they are doing!
