I have bought several fish and corals from this store, and used to visit regularly since it was the closest to my house. Unfortunately I made the mistake of hiring them to do some maintenance on my tank. After they put about 50 pounds of UNCURED live rock in my tank, the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels all spiked, killing nearly everything in my tank. I told the owner that I did not think that I should have to pay for them killing my tank so he told me I could no longer shop at his store. I will avoid them like the plague they unleashed in my tank from now on.

This is by far the best fish shop I have every been in. Always have the fish you what and the best looking fish. Most shops got the common fish, but RCA can get you just about anything you want. I hope RCA is always around, so I can be a life long and happy customer. To the bad review up top, there are always several other customers in the shop when I'm in there, so look at the awesome fish and they will help you with everything as soon as they can.
Pros: Everything. Check them out.
Cons: They are not located in Waco.

I waited around for 15 minutes trying to get help and was totally ignored. I will not go back to this store. There are too many other great fish stores in Austin to waste my time here.
Pros: Didn't smell too bad.
Cons: I couldn't get any service.

The review below entitled "beware" was written by a customer who completely neglected his aquarium foe several months. There was not much we could do when he finally came to us, but we tried to help regardless. Please feel free to drop by our store sometime and see how we really take care of our customers.

I've got to say that River City has the absolute best selection of African Cichlids in town. Everything always looks healthy (I've never gone in and seen a dead fish), and the tanks are always clean looking and free of algae. No other store seems to feel as comfortable to shop in, and the staff is the best. Every dumb question I ask gets answered in a way that makes me feel not so silly to ask it. Nothing can make you more comfortable than not feeling stupid!

Rather than apologize and attempt to make ammends, the owner then had the nerve to bar me from the store for not wanting to pay for this ?service.? I will avoid them like the plague they unleashed in my tank from now on.

One of the best stores in town. The friendliest and most knowledgeable staff around. They have the largest selections of African Cichlids in central Texas. I just started saltwater and they have helped me every step of the way. Their saltwater livestock is with out a doubt the healthiest out off all the other stores in Austin. They get in new saltwater livestock every tuesday and thursday, so those are the best days to go if you are looking for saltwater fish and corals. They also have an After Hours Sale every first friday of the month from 7 to 10 pm, and all livestock is at least 20% off!
Pros: Staff know their stuff, HEALTY livestock, Very clean
Cons: Too much to chose from
