I fell upon this online looking for a Korean Restaurant and immediately became interested. I looked up the website and liked the way they represented themselves and went one night for dinner. By the way, this isn't traditional Korean food, it is sort of a hybrid. Hence, the non-traditional name! I really like Korean food (I think it's the DNA, lol) and this was the only one that I had the courage to go to here in Austin. I know good Korean food and my husbands mom is one mean cook, so really something like this can't compare. However, this is a pretty clean establishment and food seemed easy and fast! Korean food traditionally is not easy or fast. There are always a million (exaggeration) side dishes and service is usually poor considering Asians are not known for it here in America, lol! My family and I enjoyed the place and owner and will most likely eat there again!

Pros: Fresh & fast spinoff of Korean food!

Cons: It does seem to lack a bit of comfort.

I'm all for local businesses to sprout up in bad neighborhoods - like across from the homeless shelter like this one is - but I have no patience for poor tasting food. If I am paying money, I want to be able to finish my meal. I left most of my dish where it was. I'm an expert on sushi, bulgogi, etc, and this is NOT what you are looking for.

The decor was bland, the furniture cheap, and most aggravatingly - the place is tiny. They make this very hard on their customers! It's tough to get from the counter to your seat, because they tried to fit too many tables in the place.

Overall my experience here plain sucked, and I won't recommend it to anybody. I signed up to this place JUST to give it a bad rating. Heed my warning, fair lunch-goers!

Pros: It's downtown (by a homeless shelter)

Cons: bad food, too small, crowded, loud

I'm going to tell you like it is. The decor is awesome, I am overwhelmed by their creativity, and dedication to that garden out front! The owners plant it and maintain it themselves! This is a family run restaurant, and the people here are so friendly, and give the best service... Some people go to places because they "cost a lot, therefore it must be good." This place is just too good to be true because it does not cost a lot at all. The prices for this place are exceptional, because the quality and taste of the food here cannot be beat anywhere else. I have been going to restaurants here for a long long time. This place is the top place for me. The teas are a nice touch to the wonderful flavors of all the healthy dishes. I am an expert on healthy food, as well as Korean food. I am certified, and know all about health, being good to your body, but daaaayamn! I never knew it could taste this good! Although this place is different from anywhere I have ever been, I find myself craving it throughout the week. The guy there was so cute, and charming! Get the bibimbap. Yum yum yum. There are so many things to do here... try something new, interact and talk to the nicest people on earth, have a yummy tea and icecream, fill up on "good for you and taste so dang good" food, look at the creative decor, learn some gardening tips from the owner, and flirt with their son. is he taken? Does he date American women? I should hope so. lol

Pros: Every single thing was perfect here. Have no complaints whatsoever.

Cons: Not enough room in belly! ha ha ha! it was perfect!

This place is awesome! The food is terrific! Healthy, hearty and with great tea and beer choices too! When we walked in we were greeted the sweet girl behind the counter. She explained that you order at the counter and they'll bring the food to you (this was nice, because we would have just sat down and waited for a long time never noticing that there is a sign hanging from the ceiling telling you to order at the counter) The food came to our table very quickly and it was delicious! We finished our meal with some tea and ice cream (which was also delicious!) Koriente will be one of our regular spots from now on. :)

I've been going to Koriente's for about 8 months now and wow, I've NEVER been to a restaurant where the food was not only ethnic sound Korean, healthy and more importantly HEALTHY! The owners take pride in their restaurant and strive to make the place as clean and comfortable as possible. Despite it's location on 7th street, the restaurant is really hip, colorful and surrounded by BEAUTIFUL plants outside planted by the owner herself! The owner's philosophy of eating healthy as well as being healthy really shines through their food! I recommend the humus roll and mix mix with bulgogi! The ambiance is great! They have a new girl working there now that plays cds of really good house and hip hop music. She's really funny, nice and makes great suggestions! She got me hooked on the humus rolls!

I cannot come up with anything negative to say about this place, and that's pretty impressive considering some of the other reviews I have posted. The owners are very very friendly, they always get the food out very quickly, and of course, it's wonderful. I never would have guessed that vegetables could taste so good! Some of the decor is hilarious also, like the life size Barbie with the words "tea tea" on her.

This place is amazing! I've been a couple of times, and I have never once been dissapointed. Staff is super friendly, food is super fresh, prices are reasonable. The only con is location. Sure, it's downtown, but not in the nicest part. They have an awesome vegetarian entree as well.

Pros: Veggie option, fresh, good tea selection, friendly service

Stumbled on this place and what a find! The spicy chicken bulgogi (kind of a stew) was amazing, as was the Friday-only Lemon marinated salmon. Very reasonable, to boot!

I went to Koriente and had a bad cough...the lady who owns the restaurant made me some hot tea with honey and sent over some samples of vegetarian plates.
The food was delicious and the owners (husband and wife) were very kind, gentle people.
Go to Koriente!!!

I LOVE this place and have been there many times since my boyfriend and I discovered it a few months ago. The food is wonderful and not loaded down with lots of oil and soy. The seasoning is nice and delicate unless spicy is requested. The sauces they offer on the side are faboulous, too. The side dishes are awesome....try the Hummus Rolls, mmmmmmm! The atmosphere is elegant inside and the patio out back is relaxed. The people there are so friendly and always asking for opinions and advice on their dishes. There's also parking which is soooo rare downtown!!! It's very nice to have this healthy alternative to late night dining. (Not to mention the beautiful garden outside instead of dirty sidewalks.) Long live Koriente!!

I had dinner with a couple of my friends there last week. The environment is very nice and the owner is also friendly. However, the food does not taste that good. Compared with Korean Garden, it think this restaurant's food is below average.

I discovered Koriente about two months ago and I am hooked.
The food is impeccable: tasty, healthy, and innovative.
The service is fast and the owners (a couple), very friendly.
Great ambiance! Stylish. Clean. Comfortable.

I cannot recommend this place enough...

Enjoy!

Healthy and yummie food, original decoration, good prices, very nice staff. Be sure to try the salmon salad, but order it with seaweed. As I was told, it's an experiment. I hope they make it permanent. You use the seaweed as if it was a tortilla and you would prepare a taco. You serve the avocado, tomato, cabage, salmon, cucumber and red pepper on the seaweed. Then top it with turnip imersed in a soy sauce and wasabi mix, roll it, and enjoy. It's heaven on Earth.

The decoration in Koriente is the very original. A giant Barbie-like doll greets visitors at the door with a sign that says "Tea tea?", drawing attention to their large selection of teas. The side wall is covered by an abstracted painting of John Lennon with Yoko Ono, and outside, there are beautiful flowerbeds which the owners have gone to great effort to maintain.

The quirky decorating isn't what bring me back each week, it's actually the food! Koriente has some typical Korean dishes like Bulgogi and BiBimBap, but sets itself apart with dishes like the Chicken with Tomatoes/Mushrooms or the Kalbi Pot Roast (which is a great comfort food). I love their vegetarian selection and focus on natural foods without MSG and with minimal oil, sugar and salt.

They also deliver, but I prefer to eat there since the nice people working there always brighten my day!

Koriente makes delicious dishes, with teh flavor consistent across several visits. They provide samples for people who are nusure what to eat. The Kalbi Potroast is to die for. Very high quality hot teas. Prices have gone up a bit since they opened. However, the quantity seems to have gone up a bit too. Very friendly and courteous staff. Parking is easy too!

I can't name another restaurant that offers tasty, healthy, on-the-go meals for a reasonable price. Besides the fact that there's free parking, Koriente offers a variety foods to satisfy all of your different taste buds. I went to Koriente after a long, grueling day at work to pick up something quick and fast. I didn't have to go through finding a parking spot, and i was out of the restaurant in less 5 minutes, and it still tasted good! Definitely recommended, even if you're not on the go and you want to appreciate the garden scenery.

I can't rave enough about the delicious food, amazing service, and overall experience at Koriente. I was getting take-out and couldn't decide what to get so they brought me 3 good-sized samples. I ended up getting the Bulgogi & Veggies (beef & veggies w/rice) which was out of this world! They say this place is great for vegetarians but the meat is to die for.

I ordered the Ka-re last week for dinner and it was phenomenal. Im not vegan, but I would be if I could eat this at every meal. Im excited to go back and try their other items.

The service was also outstanding even though this is a seat-yourself, order-at-the counter restaurant. My friend was on the phone and they bought a cover to keep his food warm as well as a few other things that weren't requested.

I will be a repeat customer.

the restaurant is very nicely situated on 7th street next to a lovely garden that is maintained by the restaurant's owners. The food was excellent. Some nice surprises in their combination of flavors and textures. The staff was very friendly! The Apple Braised Pork is amazing. The apples give the entire dish an incredible flavor. My roomate that ate with me had the Tomato, Mushroom, Chicken and loved it. She like the whole tomatos that they used, and I think there were 2 types of mushrooms in it. I give them mad props for creating and maintaing the garden outside too.

I've been watching the flowerbeds that started springing up early spring and was amazed at the ongoing changes in the area. Went to try their food last week and I've gotta say I fell in love.
You can see a lot of money and thought went into the restaurant just by walking in the door. I tried the Kalbi Potroast and the Summer Rolls, the guy at the register was really cordial and was eager to help me. Everything is supposed to be healthy and well balanced, works for me.

The potroast seemed more like a stew than a potroast but whatever it may be, it was the best tasting potroast I've ever had, same goes for the summer rolls. I'm usually wary of vegan anything, but if every vegan item tasted like those things I'd happily go vegan starting tommorrow. But today.. more potroast.

VERY highly recommended.
