Elegant, trendy neighborhood wine bar with a great selection of wines, not the best staff, but I don't go there to be entertained by them. This is a late night date place.

Check this place out, I don't think they get a lot of press, but we were impressed with thier selection, price, and food offering. Happy hour, indeed!

Pros: Nice vibe, friendly staff, very inviting

Cons: parking on broadway

I have been going here since 2005. Back then it was busy and hard to get a table on a Saturday night. I've been here probably 3-4 times a year since. And each time it goes downhill a little more. This time they had no, and I mean no Oregon Pinot by the glass. They were able to recommend something else, but to not have any Oregon Pinot by the glass seems weird. I was there for about two hours, and no one else came in the place, probably not a good sign for a Saturday night. The only staff member in the place left the building a couple times and we even teased him that we were going to steal the wine if he kept leaving us alone. Maybe the owner has been on vacation for a month? That's sort of what it felt like, no management, no one caring about keeping things running. Please make some changes! I keep coming back hoping for a good experience but I am getting tired of being let dow

Pros: Great area, cool decor.

Cons: Bad service, messy (wine boxes out), poor selection.

I read that this place is on the Top 10 list of Wine Bars. That would be fair if there were only 10 in town. The wine here is good, not great. Prices are good, but the food they serve is simple and the choices are pretty slim. The waitstaff is always the best part of this place. The biggest downer is the decor and atmosphere. It's very sterile 60's era white naugahyde. If you're in this neighborhood drive on to 28th and head to either Wine Down or Noble Rott. A better choice is the underrated Lupa on Mississippi. Or just wander to the Pearl and go to the best of the lot - Vino Paradiso. Pour has a nice owner and a good waitstaff but that's about it.

I had a great experience at Pour. I went there on a first date, and the first thing we noticed was the inviting atmosphere. Once you're inside, you don't even know Broadway is right out the door. The girl who helped us was helpful and knowledgeable. We didn't really know what to order, but, with help, were very happy with the wines we decided on. We also ordered the cheese plate, the ravioli and risotto and all were delicious. I don't what the music in the background was, but it was nice...the whole air of the place just allowed us to enjoy great wine and talk to each other.

We were visiting Portland for the weekend and heard that Pour was the place to go to taste and learn about Oregon Pinot Noirs. At first we thought we might be disappointed-- the whites we started with were only okay, and the female bartender was not helpful at best and downright rude at worst. Then, fortunately for us, the owner walked in. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful, and served us some GREAT wines alongside a great trio of dips, incredible pepper raviolis, and an excellent cheese plate. Highly recommended!

We arrived at 5pm for Thursday happy hour and stayed until 9pm. After 1/2 hour, we had to request that the woman bartender/waitress take our order, and then she never came back to check on us. I had 1 glass of wine the entire night. The place was about half full while we were there and was not overly busy. We did flag down the owner who was pleasant and took our food order. Be warned, the cheese sandwich on the happy hour menu is an unusual combination of cheese, onions and berries.

First - Robert the owner is hilarious. He has a dry sense of humor and infectious personality. Fun! The bar is very stylish and the chairs are so comfy! Attention to detail has been thought out well in this space. The wine list is fantastic and I have enjoyed some interesting wines here. Great staff and some sort of Spanish-infused music that set the tone perfectly. I wish they had a little bit more food on the menu, because I would go there a lot more since I live nearby. But for your money and for a pleasant evening with nice, real people - you can't go wrong here.

I was just about broken hearted when I read the poor reviews on Pour. It's a GREAT place!

On Valentines Day 2007, I had called Pour at 4:30 to make reservations for 6:30. There was a table for four waiting for us, the service was excellent and my friends and I really enjoyed the food. They TOTALLY saved the evening. I ended up running into more friends and had the best time, ever!

I couldn't imagine bad service at Pour. On another night, I wandered into pour after 11 p.m. and they stayed open until we were ready to go. On top of that, we were able to choose the music.

I highly recommend this chic little place!

If you're an Oregon Pinot Noir fan, this is the place for you. Not only do they have great Oregon Pinot's by the glass, but they have a page and a half on the menu of others to try - most all of them at very reasonable prices. The more expensive ones are even reasonably priced for he quality of wine.

We had a lovely group of snacks -- the ravioli was amazing, along with the risotto -- both great. The cheese plate we had was great and I highly recommend the trio of dips with the blue cheese dip made with honey and white wine sauce. WOW!! A great, friendly place with an amazing wine list.

Pros: Wine List, esp the Pinot Noir list

Cons: A little loud when crowded

I was served 40 degree red wine at $15.00 a glass. Out of turkey on Friday night for a sandwich. No name wines were very pricey. Three stars very generous. Plain and simple, thats what we experinced.

I've worked in the food/wine industry for awhile. I know how most "wine by the glass" lists work. They take the wholesale price of the bottle and that is the "by the glass price." Not at POUR. Imagine my surprise when I saw several glasses of wine available for about 1/3 the retail bottle price. Ken Wright 2002 Pinot Noir by the glass for less than $20 a glass??? Unheard of. The majority of glasses in the $7 range were quite respectable too.

My date and I went to POUR Wine Bar for the first time last week and I have to say, for such a small place, they really pump out some decent food. I kept watching the workers, wondering where the kitchen is. Armed with only 2 burners, and oven and a panini grill, we tried several items on the menu including a wonderful porchini ravioli, a smoked salmon and chantrelle mushroom risotto, and for kicks, the flaming table side Banana Bread Foster.

No food item was more than $8. I have had worse food for triple the price in the Pearl District.

Back to the wine, the wait staff was friendly, and when I asked the difference between two pinots, instead of faking it, he brought me out two samples so I could figure out which one I like better. The wine menu was extremely well thought out, with one or two line descriptions on each bottle. Saw some wines we recognized, and a lot of small wineries we haven't, which is so much nicer than the boring lists at all the chains.
We will be back.

Pros: Great wine list, nice servers, cheap but fulfilling food

Cons: can get kinda loud when table of 5 women started cackling

I went there on a Thursday night and at first wasn't so sure because it seemed like such a small place in there and it was pretty crowded, but I was so impressed with the wine list and the staff, that I'll be a regular. First, they have some amazing wines on the list for what I felt were fair prices. So many times, I have trouble with wine bars because I think they are a overpriced from the retail prices. Second, we had such a great time with the staff, they knew their wines and were helpful in finding something in our price range that everyone would like -- and they got it right with the Purple Hands and the Pappis -- we even bought some to go. The nice thing about it was I didn't feel that there was a high-pressure to up and over sell us, the wines were well priced and good, and they were right for our group. Sometimes I get tired of the over solicitous upselling by staff, who are only interested in selling the most expensive thing on the menu or pushing you to buy somethimg you don't want. Very relaxing, fun, easygoing atmosphere and staff.

A group of us experienced Pour on a Tuesday evening. The decor and ambient lighting is wonderful and the music was at a nice level. We ordered paninis, mac and cheese, and salads and all tasted great. The Bananas Foster, prepared tableside complete with flames, was excellent.

We went to Pour fairly recently and the first thing we noticed upon entering (aside from the chic 60s decor) was that there was a terrible toxic odor in the establishment - perhaps it had just been freshly painted? We almost left, but were intrigued enough to stay because we'd never been there before and wanted to check it out. All in our group are 'foodies' and three of us are pretty knowledgeable about wines, with two of us having worked in the wine/food industry.

We hadn't set out to have happy hour (we'd already had dinner, so we just ordered some nuts and olives, which were good), but ended up ordering only the happy hour wine (although, en route, we'd spoken about enjoying a bottle) because of the toxic odor - how on earth can someone enjoy a fine wine when the only thing on the nose is toxicity? I've heard of many unusual descriptors used for wine, but 'fresh paint' is not one of them.

Much to our dismay, the staff was really pretentious and aloof (our thank yous were met with no response, etc.) and spoke down to us as if they assumed we knew little/nothing about wine. Was it because we ordered the happy hour wine and inquired as to what it was (it is listed generically on the menu)? Was it because we were casually dressed? Or do they treat everyone like that? During our visit, we saw only two other tables being occupied...it seems they'd want to be a little bit friendlier if they want to fill that place up with people. After all, we were there on a weekend.

Will I go back? Eh, maybe (after working in that industry, I firmly believe in second chances). But if it smells funky in there, I won't stay next time.

I've been to Pour a few times now and had similar experiences. The food is good though the Happy Hour menu is a bit breif. The grilled cheese sandwich was quite tasty and the wine prices were good. My overall opinion on Pour is that it is good but not great. If the owner is not serving you, the other wait staff seems rather disinterested and aloof. I don't want to have a lengthy chat but a bit of warmth would be nice. I think if they added to their menu a bit and had the staff be a bit nicer this place could become great.

My husband & I checked out Pour on Tuesday night. We'd read the reviews before going so were prepared for it to be a bit stark. It isn't as homey as some other places but our service was excellent, the food was wonderful, wine selection more than adequate. One review indicated this place isn't good for groups. When we arrived, there was a group of 6-8 people who had pulled tables together and were having a wonderful time. They were still enjoying their evening together when we left so I would have to disagree. I had ordered the smoked salmon panini but when a comment was made about the risotto of the day, our waiter offered that it was smoked salmon with crab & mushrooms & if I was debating between the two, he highly recommended the risotto. I went with that and was glad I did. My husband ordered the 3 dips with bread. The owner/chef (?) brought it to us & proudly described what each one was; fig with kalamata olives, butternut squash & cannelini (?) beans with garlic, olive oil and sea salt. This place had a neighborly feel & the gentlemen running the establishment appear to take great pride in their work.

The atmosphere is hip yet comfortable. The staff is amazing at finding a wine to fit your tastes! They have a great happy hour menu with $3 glasses of wine, what a deal!!! Great place for date night, girls night out, or just a casual night to enjoy good wine. I highly recommend Pour!

A truly friendly, fun place with lots of great wines. I think I tried at least 3 different wines, all of which were interesting. My wife had an amazing salad and we shared a panini -- then out of curiosity I had the ravioli of the day and it was fresh and simple, a thumbs up. I think my favorite part was getting to try wines like Ken Wright pinot that I'd only ever heard about, but wouldn't have bought a whole bottle to try for myself. It was amazing, by the way. And for the quality, spendy but not out of reason for what it was and the opportunity to try. Happy hour is a great deal, and I really liked the wait staff. Give it a try -- it is intimate and small with a tiny kitchen & no hood that puts out great food for its size. It was great for a date but they have a long bench that a group was at when we were there, and they were having tons of fun, so not bad for groups, either.

We have been there about 4 times. And each time has been an awesome treat. The server we get every time is hilarious, has a dry sense of humor and has recommended some great wines. When the owner Robert hears him telling us about one wine, he might come over and recommend another two or three good ones to pick from. The Valpolicello Ripasso was $29, superb! Can't wait to go back! They also had great Barbera D Alba, (I think that was the name).

The Cheese plates ($8) have been pretty good, although last time the cheese (brie) was served fairly cold instead of room temp. The panini ($7 I think) was fantastic...turkey & provolone! We also had the ravioli ($8) which was so so to me, but it had a lot of flavor in you like snow peas in the flavorful sauce. I just don't care too much for veggies, so more of a personal preference.

So, the strangest thing -- went for a glass of wine and we stayed almost all night. The chairs are comfortable, the wine is great, music is interesting and people great -- both the waitstaff and the people who sat around us. I learned a lot about wine and even got some bottles to go. The best part is the Spanish style tapas -- nothing is too big, and you can get a table full of interesting food to nibble on all night. I think at the end we had tons of stuff -- ravioli, mac & cheese, risotto, salads, cheese palate, appetizers, trio of dips, dessert...etc. Nice!

After reading everyone rave about this place and how great of a scene it was I decided to set up a dinner for my friends Birthday. To my surprise when I walked in all the lights were on, no music was playing and there was only one other couple there, not to mention there were only about 10 two-tops and 1 four-top right in the center. So needles to say this place is a very "intimate" setting, so intimate we were afraid to talk and break the silence. Finally someone turned on the music but when it came to looking at the "menu" we weren't impressed! I realize that at a wine bar there isn't much food involved, but only offering 3 entrees is crazy. We decided to order a bottle of wine that none of us had tried before so we went with the one that advertised "Amazing." The waiter quickly told us that it was false advertising and we souldn't order it. We went with it anyway and enjoyed it, promptly after the bottle was gone we left and had dinner elsewhere.... it's up to you if you want to try it, but don't say you weren't warned!!!

A wonderful wine bar that offers fabulous wines, excellent service, and an exceptional happy hour snacking list. Pour seems to have it all. The relaxing hip environment provides for an excellent retreat that is subtle enough for that quick stop on your way home from work or romantic enough for that special evening. A must try!

I had three amazing wines -- some I'd heard of, and some I hadn't. Sometimes I feel as if I'm rolling the dice with wines I don't know, but I tried some of the others at my table, too, and I'm amazed at the great tasting wines no matter what the price or type. The fresh ravioli was amazing, and the duck salad devine! We'll be back! Street parking was iffy when we got there (6ish), but fine when we left.

The staff was fun and friendly, and they had great recommendations and were very accomodating. (We were a difficult table!)

Happy hour was a great deal, and we left with retail-priced bottles of our favorite wines (they discount to take out).

Highly recommended!

Pros: Wine list, service, food

Cons: Early evening parking

Friendly helpful owner, outstanding happyhour, I mean "pour hour"! Servers not the most professional or possessing of common sense, but maybe that's part of the casual unpretentious scene. I always learn something new about wine.

My fiance and I are avid wine drinkers and have found many shops/bars to be filled with pretengious staff. This was the complete opposite of Pour. Two of the best wait staff in Portland greeted us with smiles, Justin and Kat. They have wonderful knowledge of wine & really listened to what we liked. Once we settled on a glass or two, we were in heaven! The ambiance, candles and soft comfortable chairs (even the bar chairs) were just the right mixture for a romantic evening. We met Robert (owner) who was buzzing around to make sure everyone was happy. He wants you to enjoy every moment in his wine bar. His staff made us feel warm and welcomed and left us with the notion that we had truly stumbled onto something unique in Portland. We will be back again and again...save our spot at the bar!

I love everything about this place - the wine, the food, the prices, the people, the vibe, the look. In a word - Perfect! If you haven't been to Pour - you are missing out. The owner is very sincere and very knowledgeable.

I went to Pour on a first date and had a great time. The staff was pleasant and the wine list had a lot of interesting stuff you don't usually get by the glass. $15/glass seems like a lot--but it was 01 Beaux Freres! I was happy to have that, to see how mine was aging at home. Good time. Great place.

I'd heard about it, but it took me 2 months to go there and I am sorry I waited! I felt young again and as if I was in NYC! Owner pays attention to guests, wines were mouth watering, and they had the yummiest toasted nuts! Check out the yarn art on the wall too.

I know, what a concept! From Turley, to Ken Wright, Langry and more, they have great wines at reasonable prices. Some of the lesser known wines were well selected, and the food pairings were great. The staff was passionate about wine and knew their stuff, and knew when to let us just hang out and enjoy our evening without pressure to buy more.

Visiting Portland, we happened to pass by Pour and stopped in for a glass of wine. Highly recommended for excellent & unique wines, with a modern-but-not-trying-too-hard ambience--and owner is a wealth of foodie info on the best places to eat, wineries to visit and things to do in Portland. Go!

Overall, this place is very well done. It has an easy feel to it that makes you want to stay for hours. We got there at happy hour, aka Poor Hour and stayed through the night, forgetting our other plans in the comfortable chairs. The risotto is, in one word, amazing and the Banana Cake Foster is a fun show.

A simple, well designed place with great food and cheeses that pair nicely with the wine. Staff knew their stuff and the wines ranged from well known to obscure. Great happy hour, too.

Really enjoyed the space. Small, tucked away on a street you rarely think of for a glass of fine wine. The atmoshere was really, really cool! I do suggest going after dark though, the lighting and how it shapes the space is really cool. They did a great job with the overall feel of the space. My service was not that great; however give it some time. I believe they will work through that. The dessert was a little dry; but the flames were cool. I don't know much about wine but it looks as though they do.

The place was empty the music pour and where is the bistro part. Grill cheese, toast with jam. I found it to be high priced for what you got and the atmosphe was lacking. No theme or direction just an open room with tables.

Offers both up tempo and down tempo ambience. Nice pairings of wine and small dishes. The staff is very attentive without being pushy. They've made a lot in a small space: intimate and open.
