Did you know that your photographer has to grease the Arcadian's palm to be on their "approved list" ? The moment I got engaged I started thinking about the perfect place to have my wedding & reception. I was so lucky that a friend referred me to the Acadian Ballroom.
As soon as I visited the Ballroom and was greeted by friendly staff I knew I had found the place.
These people have put a lot of thought into making sure that everything is easy to understand and not difficult.
They have thought of it all - Appetizers & drinks for the wedding party before the wedding, A bridal suite complete with comfy furniture and a Grooms room with flat screen & X-Box.
As my wedding got closer it seemed like I had a new question everyday and the Acadian staff was quick to respond to my questions and never made me feel like a bother. I made changes up until the week of my wedding and they never once batted an eye - they smiled and accommodated everything.
The DJ that was at our reception was great he did a great job of quickly figuring out what kind of music would keep people dancing the night away and played a great mix of dance songs. The food was SO great, even my photographer who has tasted ALOT of wedding food made comments about how amazing every item tasted - cheers to the chef I tasted everything and loved it.
I can simply not think of enough positive things to say about the wonderful people at the Acadian Ballroom and all they did to make sure that our special day was AMAZING.
I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone that I know of that is planning a wedding or reception - they can do it all...
Thanks again Acadian Ballroom ~ our day was amazing!!!

Pros: Friendly Staff & Wonderful Venue

Cons: None

I got married at the Acadian in July of 2009. This company was very helpful with providing well-informed suggestions to us for things like the beer and wine and food choices. Our event planner was great at keeping my wife sane during planning. They have a very cool room for the guys to hang out in before the wedding complete with X-box and theater. My buddy is getting married at the Acadian this summer and says it was the only place that made the groom feel comfortable too.

Pros: great grooms room, patient event planners, great follow-thru

The Acadian ballroom had the best value of any place we checked out in Portland. Almost everything is included already. After we booked, we didn??t have to do any planning at all for 6 months because they had taken care of so much of the ceremony and reception. All we needed to arrange were a cake, photographer and florist. The DJ was awesome and played exactly what we wanted from our playlist. The manager was so accommodating ?? he brought us food, made sure we were comfortable several times throughout the evening and made our parents feel relaxed.

I was apart of a wedding at this locations and the owners & their son caused major problems for the bride & groom. Everyone was really excited to use this location, but everything turned out wrong and there is no resolution.

I had a wedding there this spring and it was AMAZING!!!! The Acadian staff took care of every detail and worked hard to make it all go smoothly.

I was a little worried because it is such a big space and I was having a small wedding. But the staff made sure it worked great. Elliott was my event manager, and at the end of the day I think my mother wanted to take him home with her. He was great at keeping it all on schedule without getting in the way. He handled last minute changes like it had all been planned all along.

The space is gorgeous. The entry-way set the scene for a stunning ballroom. The photos from the wedding and reception all look gorgeous, without us having to put a lot of work into decorations. My friends and family are still raving about the place months later.

The food is spectacular. It does not taste like the standard "wedding buffet," nor does it look like it. It is presented beautifully, and tastes even better. They were very able to work with us since we had a vegetarian and a Rabbi in attendance, and they got more than the standard, bland, pasta plate. Everything tasted fantastic (an important part for my husband and I) and people are STILL talking about the AMAZING mac and cheese that they added to the menu for us so there was a kid-friendly option.

One detail they have that I didn't find at many other places was a "grooms room." It was a place for the guys to go and get ready. But it was created and decotared with guys in mind. No girlie flowers and wicker. It has barstools, a big flatscreen TV, a DVD player, video games and a couch (plus a mirror for the getting ready part). After the ceremony we were able to use it as a kids room for the reception - which made the whole event more fun for the kids and the parents.

The staff was also very conscious of our budget and not trying to "up-sell" us on everything. They made sure we knew all that they could do, but were happy to work within the budget we gave them. Even thingslike not opening extra bottles of wine to run up the bar tab until they were actually needed (even though we told them they could open up to X bottles of wine) were ways they respected us, and made sure things were effortless and beautiful without needless expense.

The staff was professional and courteous at all times. The turnover from the ceremony to the reception was amazingly fast, yet not disruptive - while the guests were treated likel royalty. The servers were all attentive and on top of everything without being pushy or in the way.

You wouldn't know that such a stunning place is hiding there from the street, but it definitely worth the look. It was a great deal, but looked like it cost a fortune. I could not have been happier. I recommend them to ANYONE!

The Acadian Ballroom is magic!

I had my fall wedding reception there last year, and it was my dream wedding. Our guests were greeted by a red carpet and friendly doorman in a tuxedo, and enjoyed a cocktail hour with appetizers on silver trays passed by butlers. The ambiance was perfect - beautiful dark wood floors and marble columns, and elegant tables set with china. The staff was great, patient and accommodating, making sure the tables were decorated just how I wanted them, and the service during the reception was wonderful. The event manager, Jake, was often checking in with my dad, who was the contact person, making sure the party was running how we wanted it and that we had everything we needed. And our waiter was great about making sure we got a chance to eat, and even boxed up a little to-go basket of our meal so that we could enjoy any of it that we missed while we were mingling. The sales staff, Zack and Ronda, were great in the months leading up to the event about making sure we had all the details ironed out and they were a pleasure to work with.

Our meal itself was awesome; the chef created a custom menu just for us with maple-glazed pork chops and autumn squashes that fit in with our fall theme perfectly.

All in all, I couldn't be more pleased with my reception, the Acadian helped make memories that I will cherish forever.

I had my wedding and reception there last spring, and the Acadian made it a perfect event - all our friends and family are still talking about how it was the best reception they've ever been to! The building is beautiful, both inside and out. The ballroom was so great for all our needs - it featured a beautiful art gallery foyer, and then the ballroom itself was gorgeous, with columns, dark wood floor, and elegant windows & draperies. The upstairs loft area also provided a great place for us to hang out and relax before the event (and the bride's room was the perfect "getting ready" area). My family and friends loved the event manager Jonathan, who was very helpful and accommodating while they were setting up before the wedding. During the event, he and the rest of the staff were great about making sure we were well taken care of, and kept in good communication with us about when to do the little reception events (grand entrance, first dance...) , and how we were doing on alcohol supply and what to do with the leftover food. And, oh, the food! We had a wonderful buffet that was interesting and elegant - I get comments a lot about how great the food was. That was the icing on the cake! My girlfriend said afterward that she wished she was having her wedding there instead of the place she chose, although several of our friends said that the Acadian would be their top choice for THEIR weddings someday!

If you want your wedding day to be perfect - I would suggest not using them. Keep looking b.c. just like waiting for your perfect spouse - the perfect reception hall will come around.

Good luck!!!
