I recently needed a car to take my kids up to SF for a concert in the bad weather. This company quoted me a rate with tip included to meet their competitor's quote. "Deal" I said. I called them back later to add a fourth person and asked the person on the phone if the Lincoln Town Car sedan would carry four, she said yes. I asked if there were charges for people, she said no. No change to our quote.

They showed up on time but in a different vehicle (Suburban). I became concerned and checked the driver's paperwork. The price was not what they quoted and they charged me for a vehicle upgrade that I did not ask for. The paperwork also did not show the included tip for the driver (can be $60 of the price).

After my kids left, I decided to call the company. I reached the owner (Reno) and alerted him that the price on the driver's paperwork was not the same as the quote they gave me on the phone. He immediately became belligerent and defensive and said "I was sitting right there when she quoted you the price and that is not what she said" (which was a lie because we talked about the quotes from the other companies and they wanted to try to beat the price). I then became very alarmed with his behavior as a professional and told him that I would be disputing the charges with my credit card company. He then threatened to leave my young kids in the city at the concert. He said I would have to pick them up and he was going to take me to small claims court for the remainder of the fees. I was outraged and forced to calm his erratic behavior down in fears my children would be stranded or worse. Safety became a serious concern here, big concern.

Keep in mind, this was the owner of this business and a response to a customer simply presenting concerns about the price difference from what was discussed on the phone. He said "I knew you were going to do this". I was perplexed by his comment as we had never rented from them or had any experience with them. I asked him "you knew I was going to do what?". He hesitated as if he did not realize what he had said and to whom. He then said "dispute the charges". I said "sir, if you thought I was going to dispute the charges, then you are obviously carrying some guilt that the charges are not what we agreed to". He diverted the conversation back to him switching to a larger premium vehicle (that he charged me for) and leaving my kids and taking me to small claims court.

Unfortunately I had no other alternative than to deal with the issue when the driver returned. I planned to not pay the driver a tip (knowing I was not legally responsible for paying that amount). When the driver arrived, I mentioned the horrific conversation I had and that she would need to claim her tip from her boss. She said he would not pay her. In the spirit of her returning my kids safely I felt bad and gave her $30. In the end we paid $79 more than agreed to on the phone. The amount was not the issue here as much as the trauma and hostility this business owner put us through.

I caution you greatly about this business. They also do business as Sterling Limousines and Club Limousine All the same owner.
