Used to love this place. No wonder they don't have as many locations as they used to! We had reservations and instead of walking us to our table they pointed to it! We ordered drinks while waiting for the rest of our group to arrive.

The Ahi Tuna was literally ROTTEN. The smell of the tuna was so bad that it made us both gag. The exterior of the tuna was seared (as it should be), but the interior was brown and far from a fresh looking appearance. Had the Tuna been left

All eight in our group had something different and everyone enjoyed their food. We went on a quiet week night and enjoyed everything -- service, food, atmosphere. I would ignore some of the ancient reviews.

I come to Salt Lake from Los Angeles about twice a year to visit family. I eat out all the time both in L.A. and in S.L.C. and Tucci?s is by far the ?Best Italian Restaurant? that I have been to. Sure you can go to the ?Valentino? in Santa Monica, or ?Il Cielo? in Beverly Hills, or to ?Cucina Toscana? in Salt Lake and in all of those places you will get a great meal but you will also pay a lot more. The service and customers are all a little too pretentious for my taste. I want a great authentic Italian meal with personable and attentive service. That is why Tucci?s Cucina Italiana is the best Italian restaurant I know of. If you go out once a year and you want to dine like V.P. Cheney and his Haliburton buddies than I do suggest going to those other restaurants. Throw on your best duds, grab your best girl, and stop at the ATM before you arrive. But if you want a great Italian restaurant that you can afford go to once a week and try real authentic Italian food with a nice glass of wine than go to Tucci?s.

Pros: Great Service, Authentic Food, Excellent Value, and Sweet Patio

Cons: Only One Location

.

I have traveled extensively throughout the US and Italy and I have to say that Tucci's far exceeded my expectations. The service is great, the food is delicious and authentic, the wait staff are friendly and efficient, the ambience is gorgeous, the prices are inexpensive and it leaves me feeling like I am in Tuscany. With so many chain places such as Fazoli's and Olive Garden that cater the Americanized Italian foods it's great to be able to go to Tucci's and actually have an authentic meal. :)
The commentors on this board that complain about Tucci's must not be well traveled and therefore assume that Olive Garden is a better choice. Talk about naive.
The only con is that there aren't more Tucci locations in the Salt Lake Valley so the commute can be irritating.

We went to Tucci's on Saturday night (09/08/07) initially just to get some Take Out food. We were greeted at the door by one of the owners who had a genuine welcome for us. He was from Europe and was very enthusiastic about helping us in any way possible. We told him that we would like to get Take Out and he got us some menus and proceeded to show us specialty items that were on display. They looked incredible and it was pretty cool to see exactly what they look like.

They had about 8 sets of French doors that open out on to the patio that looked incredibly inviting so we decided to stay. We had a server named Tom who saw by our attire that we had ridden our bikes there. He mentioned that right there on their patio they had a bike-rack and even said they provide locks for their guests so you don't have to carry your own.

We shared a bottle of Brunello, and a Bruschetta variety appetizer. I had Carne Misto that had Lamb, Pork chop, NY Steak and Italian Sausage all cooked to perfection. My wife had Grilled Salmon with a Basil pesto sauce. She loved it. Tom had impeccable timing, a good personality, and a smile every time he came to the table. We finished with Tiramisu with Cappuccinos for dessert. We ended up staying for about 2 hours and never felt rushed and we never had to wait for anything.

The only negative thing I have to say about the evening was a table next to us who were obviously taking their personal problems on the staff. They were rude to their server, the bus boy, the person who delivered their food and quite frankly rude to us by behaving like children.

It was long over due for my wife and I to treat ourselves to a nice evening out. To allow ourselves to relax, be waited on and enjoy quality service. Thank You Tucci's & staff.

P.S. At the end of the meal Tom said that we got 15% off our food. He said it is an incentive for their guests to commute to Tucci's on bikes and take advantage of their bike-rack and locks. Grazie - Tucci's!

We got to Tucci's on a Friday night for dinner and waited the expected 15 minutes to be sat; but that was all that was normal. We then had a server named Pero, from Croatia, that performed so poorly that I did not know what to do. I've never had a server take so long to greet my table (about 10 minutes), get a water (about 10 minutes after placing our drink/food order), get a bar drink (another 5 minutes on top of the water time). The food then came out before my friend's salad (though Pero had assured him that he would be right out with the salad on multiple occasions) We all ordered calazones, and that too was too much for this restaraunt crew to handle. The server dropping the food looked confused each time he grabbed a plate; then he read some random list of ingredients (though none of them were in that calazone) and then just placed it seemingly randomly around the table (we later disected them to figure out whos was whos... kinda destroys the presentation of a calazone when you have to tear it open because your restaraunt staff does not care who gets what. The end was best though; after waiting for Pero for another 15-20 minutes to bring out checks, one of my friends finally made a host get a manager. All of us at the table were either current or past servers/bartenders, so I felt kinda bad that my friend did this; until I heard what the manager had to say! When my friend said it was the worst service he had ever had, but that he would still come back to try again, the manger shrugged, informing us 'it's up to you if you come back'. Another service staff member who was obviously hurt that we complained about his buddy came by our table to make wise remarks as we left and hold a thumbs up (not sure for what...) I've been to Tucci's multiple times, but I will never go back.

I heard that this place was pretty good, yea right!!! first of all if you order Juice of any kind make sure you tell them no ice or they will bring you a huge cup of ice with just a shot of Juice. After five people ordered things were going well we were brought our appitizer, then some stale bread and an ok salad. After all that was finished our meals were brought out.... my meal was the wrong thing and the waiter argued with me that this was what I ordered, but he finally brought out the right meal, wich was cold, the fish had absolutly no flavor the vegetables still had dirt on them plus were not cooked at all, my friends husband had the same problem with his veggies. The pasta had no flavor it was like they had just poured a can of tomatoes on some noodles.

My friends calzone was burnt and both the other plates wre brought out cold. The waiter would only bring out Dr. Pepper when he should have brought out coke and Diet coke, we had to ask a different waiter to bring us out the right drink.

In my oppinion they should close the place down or get some new people that know how to cook and wash there vegetables, cause nobody likes to chew on dirt. They need to retrain there waiters to listen to what is bing said. I can not belive we stilll tiped the guy $15 for his crappy service and had such a big bill for the undercooked cold food. Nobody should have to suffer what we did.

Pros: Kids can color on the tables

Cons: cold food, dirt on veggies garanteed it was not pepper or any spice, waiters don't listen to what you want

Chain Italian food. Not much more to say. Usually crowded and a bit of a wait for seating. Soups are Ok. That's what I stick with if I'm eating here with a group. Just the basics for kids. Chicken fingers, spaghetti, or mac & cheese.

2 bad experiences in 3 weeks. The first experience was with extended family. 8 people ordered. One person ordered a pasta dish, but was dissatisfied because the dish was very heavily loaded with onions. The onion flavor was overpowering. Two people ordered lasagnia, and both were delivered ice cold. The others complained about a lack of taste.

Today, 5/25/05, a group of 8 business associates and I decided to give your establishment another chance. Unfortunately, we were again disappointed in both the food and the service. The pasta dishes were all served cold. There was a very long wait between ordering and serving. Requests for drink refils were taking 15-20 minutes.

If I were to write a summary, I would say "nice, quiet atmosphere, with lackluster service, and poor tasting food." You need new chefs!

if you are craving bad italian food in small portions, head down to olive garden and save yourself at least $5 a plate. seriously, this is the worst food ever for the price. we ordered take out only to discover cold, chewy calimari, small, lukewarm portions of ravioli, tasteless, dry cappellini, and inadequate little tubs of bread dipping oil. the only thing that was appetizing was a calzone, which happened to be burnt on the bottom. we called the manager, and his explanation was that "it's the way we do it". if you want more food for your dollar, head to olive garden or the old spaghetti factory. this resturant shames the country of italy.

Cons: overpriced, bad food, just plain bad.

the only thing worse than the over-priced, bad service meals downtown is the lack of anything good at the Sandy location.

Tucci's is so much better than Olive Garden - at least Tucci's makes their food when you order it. This makes it so much easier to order items without meat. I love the wine selection and the service is always prompt and friendly. Certainly not "authentic" italian, but pretty darn good.

We went to Tucci's on Halloween night after reading the reviews here. HIGHLY overrated. We had no silverware on our table, we ordered the manacotti and the sauces were all put on the wrong manacotti, the margarita was HORRIBLE, I left most of it and the prices were nothing to write home about.....cost us over $60 to have a miserable time.

This must be the midwest (or Salt Lake) if Tucci's made it to the "Best" catagory. If anyone has ever been to the east or west coast and had an italian meal in any sort of non-chain Italian eatery, then you'd know how far off the mark Tucci's is from good italian fare. The food is bland and un-exciting.

Just another chain that pumps out Ameritalian food like as if it were a Ford on an assembly line. There is no passion envolved in creating these dishes. The ingredients don't taste fresh. The dishes are as Italian as Martha Stewart. When I eat at a place and realize that I can prepare better Italian food I know the place is not all that great! If Chef Boyardee conotates authenticity, then this is your place for Italian food.

The fact that this restaurant consistently receives high ratings simply indicates how hurting SLC is for Italian food. This restaurant uses kitch as a substitute for authenticity or even good food. For example, olive oil and vinegar, while tasty on good fresh bread, are NOT "Italian buter". The dishes try to hard to be sophisticated by adding in everything but the kitchen sink and end up being just glopped up. But in a place as bland and wonder bread as Salt Lake, i suppose it's considered "Italian".

The atmosphere at Tucci's is great. The location is nice. However, the food is just a fancy sort of bland, if there is such a thing. I know a lot of people who prefer that, but I have a hard time swallowing a "Best Restaurant" in Salt Lake City rating. It isn't.

The atmosphere at Tucci's is great. The location is nice. However, the food is just a fancy sort of bland, if there is such a thing. I know a lot of people who prefer that, but I have a hard time swallowing a "Best Restaurant" in Salt Lake City rating. It isn't.

Pros: atmosphere, location

Cons: food

Please tell me that Salt Lake has more sophisticated taste than to say Tucci's is the best restaurant in the valley! I couldn't possibly disagree more. Get out people... try new things!

This was a wonderful restaurant. The food was great, dessert is always great, and they made a killer vanilla Coke, heavy on the vanilla.

I think that Tucci's has some of the worst service around town... The food is okay. I think if you have to eat there though, eat at the one at Cottonwood Mall - their service is much better than Trolley Square.

What a joke. Typical of Utahn's to think they're eating real Italian when they're not. This place is ridiculous. I had a Veal dish one night that was as chewy as the bottom my shoe and didn't taste much better. Unimaginitive dishes, ingredients don't taste fresh and there's not a real chef anywhere near the kitchen. The place is your basic chain restaurant that is only good at impressing those used to Prego in a jar. It's the kind of place high school kids would go for a "nice" date. This is one place where I recommend you fill up on the bread. Real Italian can be found at Michelangelo's or Lugano's!

I've been to Tucci's about 4 times. Each time was a dissapointment. The first time I ordered a seafood linguini -- the seafood was not fresh and gave me many many problems. The second time I ordered a salad -- the leaves were wilted and looked like they were going bad. The third time I decided to go simple: spaghetti -- they even got this wrong. The parmesan turned out to be mozerella. And not just cold mozerella, but mozerella that had gone cold so that the spaghetti was one large chunk. The fourth time, we ordered appetizers and left.

While Tucci's may run a smooth ship, it's hard to believe any foodie would even consider rating it as SLC's number one resturant. Come on! The wine list leaves much to be desired, and it's so loud. I guess if you are taking fifty of your closest friend to dinner, it may be a finacially sound decision, but creative and eclectic, and gourmet, it is not. Wake up, it's pasta for God's sake, you can make it at home!

Not very good service. The waiters weren't attentive at all. The food isn't that great. Not a recommended Italian experience.

Tucci's is good, but not great. Yes, it's a big step up from Olive Garden, but it's not the best Italian I've had. Because of this, I stick with the roasted chicken (which is actually very delicious). The atmosphere is loud and the service has never been good each time we've gone. A good place to meet up with friends if you are not concerned about the food, just a chance to get together and talk.

The atmosphere was nice but the food was only ok. For the price I would have expected it to be better. The service was good though.

Food is good but Utah's Best??????? You have got to be kidding me. This place is above most chain restaurants in quality. But, there are many better choices in all types of cuisine....even Italian.
