3 Stars: mediocre Mexican food (by by foodstalker at Citysearch)

We just ate here tonight based on all the good reviews and the fact that we want to support our neighborhood restaurants. The atmosphere is nothing special but thankfully doesn't do the americanized, excessive "mexican" theme. Our server was very nice and the service was quick. Sadly the food and drinks were nothing special. The margarita tasted mostly of some sort of pre-made mix that you could buy at Safeway. The food had the same quality. The enchilada was stuffed with canned chicken and was flavorless., the salsa bland, the tortillas also nothing special. In short, all of it tasted like stuff I could buy at the grocery store and put together at home with little to no effort. The food I have had had at most of the local stands and booths is much better.

3 Stars: Shrimp burritos (by by auwillia at Citysearch)

My husband loves the shrimp burritos here. I've tried a number of things that were good, also. I was disappointed with the cheese enchiladas and tortilla soup. The soup was way too salty, and tasted canned. Otherwise it could have been good.

5 Stars: The very best authentic mexican food in all of Portland (by by jandjenna at Citysearch)

This restaurant is a true gem. I followed the previous review to discover this place and it was well worth the trip. Myself and my girlfriend arrived last night and the staff was incredible. Our drinks were never empty the chips were always hot and fresh and the salsa was amazing. The owner when I asked if there was hot salsa smiled and went to make his special creation using cerrano peppers which if you like spicy can only be described as wow. We tried a little of everything on a sampler platter to share. The rice and beans were fresh and full of taste the chili rejenos were made perfect with a lot of cheese the enchiladas were firm and stuffed with fresh white meat chicken. Ohhh and if you enjoy margaritas this is definately your place we ordered one to share and it had to be atleast 24 oz and everything is always made to order. This is definately a place we will be going back to many many times in the future and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys authentic mexican food. I hope this review has helped you.

5 Stars: Delish! (by Madelyn Z.)

Great food, extremely friendly manager and staff... family owned and managed... I really like that! They are always quick and efficient, and the prices are great. It's my first choice of restaurants on my lunch hour. Best Mexican food in Portland! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal and a friendly environment.

4 Stars: Great food and service! (by by realtrufam at Citysearch)

We have been going to Su Casa for quite a while and always enjoyed it. However, the new owners have really stepped up to make it a bit more aesthetically pleasing (although there is still a ways to go both inside and out to make it truly inviting), and while we miss a couple of items from the original menu, the new menu is excellent. The Pollo a la Crema is delicious - rich and flavorful - and the seafood always tastes very fresh. The mole sauce, while a little inconsistent - sometimes it's better than other times, is as close to homemade as we've been able to find anywhere in Portland. The margaritas are tasty and potent. You definitely get your moneys worth! Service is excellent - an extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff.

I highly recommend Su Casa to anyone who loves real, homemade Mexican food!

5 Stars: Awesome Mexican Food (by by pdxchichi at Citysearch)

This place may be a little rough around the edges, but the food is great. They have wonderful salsa the seafood stuffed rellenos are delicious. I've tried about everything on the menu. The green enchiladas are outstanding, as are the rellleno burritos. Service can be spotty, but typically you get your food quickly. Friendly service.

3 Stars: Different owners, different food (by by juliebpdx at Citysearch)

I had previously written a review for Su Casa and given it 5 stars. I went back tonight and found that it was under new ownership. They were very friendly and eager to help. Their salsa, rice, and beans were good but I was disappointed with the cheese enchiladas. I'm not sure the exact name of the cheese that the "old" Su Casa used to use in their enchiladas, but it wasn't the globby, gooey kind that's typically in enchiladas. I'd loved it because I didn't leave feeling bloated and stuffed. The new owners use run of the mill gooey cheese. They tasted pretty good, but without the enchiladas of the previous owners, the main reason I loved Su Casa is gone. They also didn't have their liquor license yet so no margaritas. Overall, the food was pretty good, the service is friendly, and I like supporting neighborhood places so I'll probably go back, but my search for the best Mexican restaurant is back on.

5 Stars: Best In Portland! (by by heliaction at Citysearch)

My wifes favorite food is Mexican. So we have tried many different places and this one hits the top of the list. Just don't judge the book by it's cover it doesn't look like much from the outside. The food is not drenched in cheese and is so fresh! You should really try it! Great service too.

5 Stars: Best home-made tamales in Portland! (by by sernaags at Citysearch)

I've been going to Su Casa Mex. Rest. about a month after they opened. Scince then every other restaurant I have gone to doesn't have an Authentic taste brought from Mexico. I lived in Portland for about 6 years and I am sooo happy that I finally found a Mexican Restaurant that doesn't have the entree flooding in cheddar cheese but only sprinkled with flacky, white Queso Fresco (Mexican Cheese). They have a very tasteful menu, for example, the tamales they have are made from scratch and the refried beans are just like my abuelas over in Mexico. Their seafood choices are amaizing! My favorite meal is Chicken Fajitas with a refreshing Pina Colada in a REAL pinapple. Best of all the service is great. How cool!? My 2 year old son loves the tacos!

5 Stars: Authentic centeral Mexican food from central Mexico (by by schmitty_78 at Citysearch)

The food is really good... really really good. The atmosphere is not the best, but again the food is good. The prices are good, and the service is decent. Great place to take a family. For great Mexican food in North Portland I would have to say give this place a try. I have taken many different groups here and everyone has always been very happy with it.
