hotel was very convenient to all the sites in EL Paso, however check in and out was very confusing. Front desk , stated that many of the hotels reservations were not coming through. Tried to double charge us! Breakfast buffet vouchers were hard to get, as we had to wait in check out line, every morning , to get vouchers. LONg lines! overall was impressed by hotel.

Great hotel located downtown El Paso. Walking distance to many local bars of every type ;). The parking garage below the building is very secure and well lit with security cameras. The hotel bar is grand with the amazing dome.

This is the second time I have stayed at this lovely old hotel. Staff was very helpful. Coffee shop has tasty food with attentive waiters. Room was adequate with comfortable beds. After having difficulty with the room temp. the desk quickly sent someone to explain the controls. Located within easy walk of several museums and music venues. Hotel celebrates 100 years in 2012 and would loved to have a booklet explaining some of its history.

We had to change rooms 4 times due to noise issues: first nite was a convention, second nite street party, but the front desk people were great each time. Yes it is an old hotel but still nice as it was within a block of the start and finish of the marathon--also great to have the free airport shuttle. ALso next to the golden horseshoe shopping at the markets -got some great deals there as well

My Husband and 23 year old son stayed here for the Sun Bowl Game. They said the room was very large, comfortable, and clean. They had a great breakfast buffet at the restaurant. It was in a convenient location, and they walked everywhere they needed to go. Juan at the front desk was very helpful, and the entire staff was friendly. They would not hesitate to stay here again.

I recently stayed at the Camino Real in El Paso for the weekend. If you are into the nightlife the union plaza is amazing and the camino real is conveniently located just a few blocks away. The shuttle drivers were very friendly and always more than willing to help us out with rides to nice restaraunts. The hotel is very nice and is worth the money.

From the beginning with a call for a ride from the airport to check out, our stay here was excellent. Service was great, rooms were great and for an older hotel, it far exceeded expectations and was even GRAND. Shuttle was on time to airport, coming and going. Since there was a wedding there that night they put us up on an upper floor in case it was noisy which it wasn't. It you want more than the run of the mill hotels, this is the place.

If you're looking for something pretty classy for a decent price, this place is it. Loads of crown molding. There were a few annoyances, but they were very minor. One interesting thing is that we stayed on the 13th floor. The view of downtown El Paso is amazing. There was an outlet that didn't work, but it was the only outlet that was accessible. A drippy faucet. No microwave or refrigerator in the queen suite. The biggest annoyance was housekeeping. They failed at keeping the condiments stocked for the coffee maker and once we had to call them back because they simply forgot to clean our room. All in all in was a good stay. Very beautiful.

This is a beautiful old hotel although it appears to falling into a little disrepair. The staff is cordial and friendly if young and not particularly refined. Weekend rates are amazingly low, the Beef Tenderloin at the bar was the best $18 dollar steak I've had in years. Downtown El Paso is a ghost town on the weekends, and I mean that in a good way. I'm considering this my secret weekend getaway as it is only a little over three hours from where I live and my wife loves it.

with all of the bad reviews, we were very concerned this would be a bad experience. The night we stayed, the hotel was packed, if not full. The service was great except for a young waitress who liked to talk about herself more than serve her guests. The food was ok. Nothing exceptional. overall, we were warm and no major issues..and that was success.

Made my reservations on Monday for a Deluxe kind bed with buffet, to arrive on Friday. Upon my arrival on Friday night (8pm) I was informed, although I had reservations for a deluxe king room, they did not have it ready and would give me a deluxe queen room instead. I was not happy with that and asked the hotel receptionist, what was the purpose of making reservations if you were not going to be accomaodated with the reservations you made. The young lady at the desk graciously upgraded our room to a suite at no charge. Our whole stay there was filled with nothing but helpful people. I would recommend this hotel, just for the excellent customer service.

Good price/value ratio For convenience, we stayed here while attending a seminar. Our room was quite nice, although we spent little time in it. In-hotel restaurant selections were limited and on-street restaurant selections were minimal as many were not open on weekends.

I don't understand all the belly aching about this hotel. I was there in October 08 and was very impressed. For those of you who don't like it - ITS AN OLD HOTEL !! It has a little character and is not a brand new generic, bland, milk-toast, boring box room with puffy sheets.

I had a corner room big enough to play raquetball in, with a great view, the staff was great, the bar was great, no problems at all. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. Not SUPER for business traveler, (old desk was a little small) but the wifi was strong in all areas I was in.

Great hotel - go there with confidence understanding it has character.

The hotel is great for El Paso, probably the best in town. The Dome Bar is spectacular, and the Dome Restaurant is quite good. I was disappointed with the fact that the gym has been under construction, and the pool could use an update. Other than that, the value for the $ can't be beat, and its a great place with great service and a friendly staff. I enjoy coming to this hotel whenever I am in El Paso.

This is a lovely hotel in the heart of downtown - great to see anything at the Plaza Theater or the El Paso Museum of Art as they are right across the street. The ambiance of the bar is everything it's cracked up to be - but the drinks are overpriced, and if you hit them on a busy night, their pour leaves a little something to be desired. THe rooms were neat and tidy, and the view was spectacular. I would stay there again. THe hotel staff is very courteous and friendly. The room service food is ok - not great but ok.

I was surprise how nice the hotel actually was. This hotel was constructed in 1912...I think and you can tell that there was lots of attention to detail. They don't make hotel like this one anymore. I recommend it. Be adviced if you get a room on the upper floors, the is a dance club up there that will keep you up on certain days. I was on the 10th floor and could hear it but not as bad as it sounds.

My Recent Stay I had some problems last time I stayed here, but I am happy to say this time everything was very smooth. The room was in good order and unlike the first time the temperature was perfect. Service at the wonderful dome bar was impeccable. Check-in and check-out was a breeze. Also, the breakfast buffet was great.

wonderful old hotel We loved this hotel and its beautiful bar with the Tiffany dome and two really good restaurants - one casual and one 'fine dining'. The people were wonderful, friendly and very helpful. Only 2 drawbacks for us: The first is that we were there without a car and the neighborhood shuts down at 5 or 6 pm and there are not a lot of restaurants within walking distance. However, the valets were extremely helpful and shuttled us back and forth to restaurants, the zoo, a movie, etc. for tips. The second is that the workout room is small with limited equipment and the rooftop pool is also small. But, that didn't seem to be a problem because neither place filled up when we were there. We would certainly stay at the Camino Real again.

I enjoyed the comfort of the room and the overall presentation. I was greeted at entrance by the gentleman who was monitoring the parking lot and asked if I wanted my bags taken to my room. The gentlemen was very polite and professional. There was a gala for March of Dimes in the hotel when we arrived and the gentlemen in the parking lot still extended excellent service to the hotel guest, which was very impressive.

Awesome Dome in the Bar My room was clean and very nice but wouldn't warm up but a call to the front desk got that fixed quickly too! And the tech was very friendly. Went to the bar for a night cap only to be surprised that they had a great band playing and ended up staying longer than I first thought.

Very nice and comfortable, I would stay here any day before staying at a cookie-cutter hotel of the same price! It was very comfortable and nice to be in a building with a little style and history. I was very happy with the location. It is in the heart of downtown and within walking distance of anything I needed. I had a south facing corner room on the 6th floor and had a great view of the city and of Juarez.

The hotel is really old and the rooms are a bit out dated - old bed frames, old furniture - kind of what you'd expect to see in a bed and breakfast in the Texas Hill Country. But - the architecture more than makes up for the oldness. The hotel lobby, bar, restaurants, and staircase are simply beautiful - definitely a must see....

Stayed in the El Camino for Thanksgiving weekend. Hotel must have been recently renovated. Very clean rooms. The lobby and bar is a one-of-a-kind old world charm gem. Hotel staff was super friendly, waived parking fee and went beyond the call of duty to accomodate us. Hotel is perfectly situated in downtown with convention center and shopping, restuarants in walking distance. Would for sure stay again.

I booked this reservation the day of and was very pleasantly surprised based on other reviews. My large room was on the 9th floor with a great view. It was very clean, comfortable and the staff was exceptional. The restaurant downstairs in the lobby had fabulous food and the Tiffany dome bar had live music every night I was there which was a treat after working all day. I am coming back into town in July for business and I am booking here again!

Stayed at the Caimino Real with my 7 year old over Thanksgiving and was greated nicely, they put a refrigerator in my room and our beds were FANTATICALLY comfortable. Lots of pillows and veru comfortable. Only thing I did not like is they did not have any TV stations for kids (i.e. cartoon network, etc). Other than that hotel was great.

I am a regular visitor to El Paso. I have stayed in all of the downtown hotels. This one is by far the best. It is exactly what a Southwest hotel should be. Great decor, clean comfortable rooms, free underground parking and friendly, helpful staff. I would rate this hotel at four stars. I will stay here on all future visits to the area.

I travel often for both business and leisure so I stay at a lot of hotels. The Camino Real is one of my favorites. I have used the chain in Guadalajara and Juarez as well. It is an old Hotel with a magnificant bar and restaurant. The rooms were very spacious. The pool was nice and quiet. The charm of the Hotel was that of a "yesteryear" feel to it with all the modern conveniences of today. It was great to be close to interstate acces, downtown shopping and covered parking. My choice when I travel to the El Paso/Juarez area.

Just walking into the hotel gives you an awesome feeling. Our room was clean an spacious. The employees were anxious to help with anything we needed. The best part of the hotel is the lobby bar with its magnificent domed ceiling. Our experience in the Dome Restaurant was one of rare complete ultimate service--worth the high price. It was close enough to the Mexican border that we took the trolly into Juarez and walked back. The hotel was very reasonable for its beauty, location and service.

We had a fantastic stay at The Camino Real Hotel Arriving early to this hotel, they accomodated us with an early check in which was great as we had travelled a overnight to get there. We found the rooms to be excellent, very clean and big. Everything you could want except a fridge. It is well located and we found it great value for money and dined in their restaurants - spot on.

We had never been to El Paso so we checked the web. We were amazed by the Camino Real hotel webpage, but who believes these pictures? However, the actual hotel surpassed our expectations. It is an historic hotel in a plaza with other cultural buildings (a performing arts center and a museum). The hotel is beautifully and tastefully decorated - wood, marble and a huge stained glass dome encompassing the bar. This elegant atmosphere made our margharitas taste so much better. Near the bar was a 4 diamond restaurant that was a bit too pricey for our present vacation which was to visit Big Bend and other national parks. Our rooms were spacious and decorated with furnishings unlikely to be found in an American hotel chain. Each floor was nicely decorated (we checked!). The lobby showcased artwork with huge paintings of horses, native Americans etc. done by local artists. The hotel staff was helpful and suggested restaurants even though there were two in the hotel. This stay set a nice tone for the trip. We were there for only two days and I wouldn't look any further were we to find a reason to be in the El Paso area again.

Great location downtown with nice views. Do not miss having a drive at the famous Dome Bar with the Tiffany Ceiling dome. The parking lot is a little precarious, be super careful. We were told by other colleagues about the wonderful (& free) continental breakfast downstairs, the staff did not tell us, but we checked and it was indeed free and delious.
