We discovered this fabulous Indian restaurant by chance and will definitely return for their delicious and beautifully cooked food. There are a number of Indian restaurants in Seattle but few exceptional ones such as Zaika.

Pros: Complex flavors; delicious breads

Cons: none

Drinks are reasonably priced. They serve food pretty late, sometimes till midnight (with some menu restrictions). Service is good, fun atmosphere and the sound is just about the best around. Also they take suggestions for new songs and update their collection monthly.

Cons: No karaoke on Mondays

My office manager took us out for lunch to Zaika last week as a special treat and we were not disappointed. My grandmother was born in Agra, one mile from the Taj Mahal, and my dad spent much of his youth in India. Also, my grandfather taught my mother Indian cooking as a newlywed, so I grew up eating excellent Indian food. The meal we had at Zaika was as good as anything my late mother would have made, and the servings are generous. Our server (who I believe was the owner) was so accomodating and obviously takes great pride in his work. The interior decor is beautiful as well. I am definitely going back soon, and bringing family members. Thank you for a terrific lunch!

I have had the best service at a restaurant in Shoreline. Everybody need to check this place out. If you love Indian food you have to try this restaurant. They have the best Palak Masala. I love it with the potatoes or as they like to call the "aloo". If you don't like spinach the other dish to try is the Royal Biriyani. It is so good with either chicken or Lamb. They have great service and it is so private. Love this place. You have to check it out

We just got back from visting Zaika and had a horrible experience. We have been going there for years and while the service has always been bad, what kept luring us back was the food. But no longer.
First off, it was the bartender that started out as our server, who reeked of cigarette smoke and kept
coughing all over us while taking our order. Then our real server brought out our food, all the while coughing without covering as well. The naan (as usual) was good, but the quality of the meat they are using has gone dowm. The chicken tandorri was fatty and chewy and the meat in the Zaika Masala was supposed to be all white meat but was not. Not suprising the last couple times we have been there we were the only ones. So disappointing!

I just had the unfortunate opportunity to not enjoy a lunch buffet at Zaika ?Authentic Indian Restaurant? on 15th and 146th in Shoreline.

Not only was the food mediocre (with very poor selection), the service was even worse. Not once did the waiter stop by my table to refill my water, soda or even take away a plate, he made it sound like my fault when I was leaving?. ?You did not ask for anything else? he accused (I would have if he was anywhere to be seen).

To top it all off, the charge for the buffet was a dollar more than the signs outside. ?We have raised our prices,? he told me; maybe change your advertising before you start charging people for your well-below average lunch buffet.

We use Cedars as our benchmark for good Indian cuisine, but Zaika's cuisine was richer and had more dimension. We had the butter chicken and the beef boti kebab accompanied with naan and the tandoori delight appetizer. Chai and Taj Majal beer were also on hand. Although slow at times, the service was good and we will definitely be back for more.

There's only one Indian restaurant in my neighborhood and thank god it's this one! I've had Indian food all over town because I enjoy it so much, the u district, Queen Anee, Capital Hill, Lynnwood...and this one tops them all. I love the butter masala. It is fanastic and with your choice of spicyness level you can get it mild or really spicy depending on your preference. Everything there is made when you order so it comes to the table hot and fresh everytime. The garlic naan and the paneer nan are to die for! Great for scooping up left over sauces!! The restaurant is spacious and the owners and staff are very helpful and nice. Oh, yeah, almost forgot the Mango Lassi--perfection in a glass. Plus, there's a full bar :) I've come here on dates, with family and with friends. In fact a girl friend and I come here at least once every two weeks for a girls night out dinner! We love it and keep coming back for more!

Pros: fresh fresh food!!

Cons: havent' found one yet!

I am a regular customer at Zaika's. I love the food, enjoy the buffet regularly, and like the owners and ambiance. The owners are polite and courteous. The regular menu is great for vegetarians, are large portions for the prices, which I have discovered by eating at some of the other Indian restaurants at ngate, udistrict and in lynnwood. The food is fresh and always served hot. A few of my favorites are palak masala with lamb (so tender), tandoori chicken tikka, codfish pakora, and coconut curry with chicken. The new dish paneer masala is excellent, so are the samosas. Royal Birhyani is delicious with any of the meats or seafood, I have tried them all. They have a nice selection of nan breads served with chutney & plum sauce if requested. I love spinach & paneer nan, and garlic nan. They also serve food in the lounge and provide entertainment. Reduced menu after 10:00 pm, but nice selection, and additl food specials. Still served hot until 1:30 am most evenings. I highly recommend eating the delicious food at this restaurant. Take a minute and talk to the owners, they are friendly, appreciate feedback, and truly appreciate their customers. There is much more to this fine establishment than the delicious food.

I am a regular customer at Zaika's. I love the food, enjoy the buffet regularly, and like the owners and ambiance. After reading one of the reviews, I thought I would give my opinion. The lunch buffet, although not quite as good as ordering entrees cooked to order, is very good. It is busy between 11:30 to 1:00 from what I?ve seen, and fresh food is brought out regularly to make sure it's stocked. Much of the lunch rush appears done by two, but they are happy to add more food as needed for those who come when the buffet is almost over. There's a nice selection with about 10-12 items. Nan bread is cooked fresh when you walk in the door, and the regular menu is always available. The owners are polite and courteous. The $1 charge for take-out seems reasonable, since I have never seen another establishment allow take-out for their buffets. Pros: Excellent authentic food, nice portions, reasonable prices. Great location.

Cons: A little loud from 9-10pm due to entertainment in lounge starting at 9.

I am writing to let you know about an exceptional Indian Restaurant named Zaika which is located at 14622, 15th Avenue NE Shoreline. As a 90 year old, I have lot of experiences and tastes behind me, as far as trying different foods from different countries. My Son has taken me to a number of Indian Restaurants in the Seattle/Eastside area, and I must say this place is far ahead of all others when it comes to the quality of food and service. The flavors are authentic and exquisite in taste. Some of my favorites are the butter chicken as well as the spinach saag. The lamb and prawn curry as well as other types of curry dishes are mouth watering. We go there often and every time we leave very satisfied with both the food and the service. My friends and family are always looking forward to going back to Zaika for great tasting Indian food.

The sign says Lunch Buffet until 3 p.m. At 2 pm when I went, there was a bit of dried out rice left, no raita (yogurt), and a very limited choice of other standard dishes. They did make a fresh Naan, but otherwise the food was rather stale after sitting in the warming pans for awhile, and there was not much to choose from. They charged an extra dollar for my takeout box, which was silly, because I barely took any food.
The place was empty, and I can see why. If someone had made an effort to be friendly or helpful, I might go back, but that didn't happen.

Pros: The only E. Indian restaurant in the area.

Cons: Lousy food, overpriced, no smiles during my visit.
