The gym is very nice and clean, but the service is not as great. The receptionists need to be a little more nicer and professional to the clients.

This gym is the nicest place ever!! I love it! All the classes are included with membership and there are a hundred a month. The facility is gorgeous and it has all state of the art brand new equipment. Its also cool that tons of famous people workout there but they don't come in with an attitude or anything. I would pay $100 dollars easy to be a member of this gym! Make sure to ask for Sam when you go. He is an actor. You will probably recognize him when you see him. Really cool and he will get you the best deal.. PS- the SPIN, Yoga, and Kick Boxing is the BEST!! And the outdoor pool and jacuzzi!

I just got off the phone with billing because (apparently) I was just charged again for another month of membership when I have been trying to cancel it!

See, they have this policy where, if you want to cancel, you have to LOG into your account online, PRINT out a cancellation form, STAMP it, and MAIL it in. You must do this 10-20 days before you want to cancel!! It's not even like you have to fill out anything on the form. They just do this so that they can keep charging you while this form gets lost in the mail.

So naturally, I decide that I want to cancel my membership, but have to pay for another month because my billing cycle was coming up and I didn't "mail" the form in yet. Then I mail it in and see that I am charged AGAIN the next month! When I called them, I explained that I sent the cancellation form weeks ago. They asked if I had "proof of mailing"? As if I'd send a piece of paper certified mail.

They refused to refund the charges, even though I haven' been there in months. As a courtesy (more like a sl-p in the face) the guy said he'd cancel it over the phone (wow, they can do that???) but he wouldn't refund my charges.

This gym simply does not give a d-mn about people. And they have the policies in place to prove it.

Was able to do a full body workout in a fun environment. There were 3 main rooms one with cardio machines, one with free weights, and one with treadmills and step climbers. There was also a bar making smoothies and selling fitness related products. Try it out.

Joined about a month ago& I signed up for personal training which is great & affordable!Exercise equipment is clean,modern,well-maintained.My buddy slid off the toilet seat in the restroom on the first day I was there. Apparently,it wasn't fully attached on both sides.Had to help him up. I went to front desk & told them it needed to be replaced. It was still broken 3 weeks later. Also, tons of problems with the audio system in the classes:CD's skip in the classes, or you can't hear the instructors because of speaker/audio problems. This has yet to be fixed.A couple of narcissitic instructors that you should stay away from - like the one who likes to ogle his own rear in the mirror, instead of helping students with their exercises.I did have one fabulous insructor, but kids at front desk can't tell me when or if he'll be back! Kids know nothing and say they can't find out. No work ethic from this generation. I'm retired. Have plenty of time and love to take classes, but not all are great.I pay good money and want the most for my buck with the nice, slender hotties!Good juice bar on-site is mighty convenient for eye candy and snacks.Clean pool for swimming laps outdoors. Clean Sauna which I love.Overall,a good deal. Only other choice in the area is Bally's with their long-term contract. The kids might fall for Bally's sales pitch, but not an old-timer like myself. Regarding Bally's: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

First, I'd like to comment on the other 5 star review on Citysearch by a user named "lafitness." You shouldn't just go onto a site and help yourself to a positive review.

Second, I'll say that the facility is fairly nice. It's not overcrowded like 24 Hour Fitness or Bally's. They do tend to keep it fairly clean. And they are decent at maintaining the equipment -- which is still fairly new -- so we'll see how it goes after a few years pass.

If this facility had towel service, it would be a slam dunk no-brainer. Those are the kinds of touches that count, and unfortunately there are no true gyms that offer that in this immediate area, which means there's room for someone to come in and win over the executive crowd.

But that's not the real problem. The problem is the staff. L.A. Fitness, as a rule, has surpassed 24 Hour Fitness and Bally's as having the the most pushy sales staff in the business. Most gym sales people are fairly pushy, I know. But you feel assaulted with a well-rehearsed game when you walk in. And if you aren't sure the price they're offering is right, they turn up the heat to make the decision right at that moment (because the specials are always just about to expire, as you might imagine).

Luckily, I did my research beforehand to find out what to expect, as should you. Problem is that once you join, the staff isn't particularly friendly. Yes, they'll hook you up with that free personal training session -- one part of which is an assessment, the other part is again... a hard upsell trying to make you feel miserable for not needing a trainer to push along your workouts. Sell, sell, sell.

I guess it's what works for this business model. So from a management perspective, I guess there's nothing wrong. In short: not a bad gym... just be prepared for the people inside.
