We've been eating at Monarca's since they first opened. They're a welcome addition to the limited food choices in Crenshaw County.
We've eaten most everything on the menu; our favorites are the beef nachos, taquitos, fajitas and the burrito supreme. We originally would get the nachos supreme, but we've stopped doing that, because the chips tend to get soggy before we're able to finish.
We've eaten the beef fajitas, chicken fajitas and the beef and chicken fajitas - they're all good. My only complaint about them is they need to serve more tortillas with the meal; I think a usual order comes with four or so. I think that's the usual, though - most Mexican restaurants we've eaten at do about the same. A regular order of fajitas is enough for two people to share.
I think the prices are reasonable; you can order dinner menu items from about $6.95 on up. There is always plenty of food on each plate.
The staff is great! We've been enough times that they've almost become friends with us, and my husband usually has to make jokes with them while we're there. The staff is always accommodating, even when a large group of us come in - they always act like they're glad to see us, even if we're getting close to closing time.
We don't drink, so I can't speak personally about their bar items, but most folks that I see ordering from the bar seem happy with their order.
I'd suggest this restaurant to anyone who likes Mexican food- it's worth the drive!
