The stylists at the salon invited teen mothers and girls in residential treatment to a morning of, hair styles, make up and pampering. The stylists were kind and respectful and treated all the girls like queens for the day.

For the girls who were unable to make it to the salon, the stylists brought the salon to them. They provided hair cuts and make up where the girls lived. The stylists did an awesome job and made it really special for those girls. The folks at Arabella really care!!!

When I first moved to Portland, I never thought I would find a hairstylist that fits the grade, until a friend introduced me to the amazing Sarah Bandy.

Sarah has been styling my hair for over two years, and in that time she has gained my valued trust and friendship. I went in with a bad hair cut & wanted it leveled & wanted a low maintanence cut .what i got waz the worst hair-cut i have ever had. & they tried to tell me that my hair quality was bad & that this was the best it could be.& i just had to wait for it to grow out for it to look presentable. Stephanie made my brows amazing!! i didn't know a good wax could make such a difference. I mean i've had my brows waxed before but never like this!
she takes a lot of time perfecting them to make sure they look amazing and suit your faceshape.
she's really in to make up which means that she cares a lot about the shape of your brows.
you won't regret making an appointment with her!

I had been looking for someone to trust with my hair and i read so many good reviews on Jena I decided to giver her a try. It was very convenient since she starts at 6am so I can get my hair done before I need to go into work. I went in the first time not knowing what I wanted and some how it turned out better than what I could have dreamed of. I recently went back to get highlights in to give my hair texture for an up-do for a wedding I was in, She listened to what I needed I gave me highlights that look natural, hide when I have my hair down, and makes my hair look amazing when its up. I couldn't ask for anything more.
I have never done anything dramatic to my hair but in her hands I feel like anything she does will make me look amazing in the end. My next appointment is for a Keratin treatment to straighten out my frizzy hair. She gave me a lot of information on it, and gave me good advice whether I should do it or not because of my hair type. She knows her stuff!
I wouldn't place my hair in anyone else's hands!

If you'd like to find a perfect place to go and treat yourself to a special day of beauty, this is it. The people are nice, the atmosphere is relaxing and pretty and the services are local and organic. The location, although at first somewhat odd, is actually perfect for this type of business.

Sarah B at Arabella knows what she's doing. I have been a client for about a year. She did my hair for my wedding, and I've been seeing her ever since. When I took the plunge 4 months ago and cut my hair short, Sarah did an amazing job. I get daily compliments about how cute and fresh it is. If you're considering going short or updating your look, you really need someone who knows what's going to look good on you (and tells you honestly!) and can pull it off. Sarah is the best!

Libby Beaman colored, cut and styled my hair and it looks amazing! First and foremost, I was leaning towards keeping my blonde highlights but received some very SMART advice from Libby. She had advised me that with my eye color and skin tone, keeping closer to my "roots" was were I should be. Thank goodness I listened to her, because now I LOVE my natural hair color. It is so flattering, bright and beautiful. I have received so many compliment's about my hair and I owe it to LIbby. Thank you!!

I have had many different types of massage in many different countries and I can safely say that Anna is the best masseur (of any school), that I have experienced. Anna has given me several shiatsu massages and I always leave feeling calm and centred. Anna is a great listener and is very careful to assess your needs before launching into the massage . During the treatment she uses a perfect comforting pressure and works on each area of the body with the utmost care. It may sound a bit corny but she also has healing hands. On one occasion, at the end of the shiatsu while my eyes were still closed, I was certain she was still gently working on my abdomen, but when I opened my eyes, I found Anna was actually on the other side of the room. She is truly a special person.

This is the second time that I have had the pleasure to visit Steven Lightfoot at the salon. I am 25, work full time and go to school full time. I needed a haircut that would match my playful attitude, professional attire and is quick and easy to manage. Steven Lightfoot was able to find the perfect hair style for me. Not only was he able to do that but the color he added to my hair makes my blue eyes pop! My drivers license photo looks like it was taken at Glamour Shots. I get SO many compliments and would recommend Steven Lightfoot to anyone looking to get their moneys worth.

I'm a bit of skeptical consumer and reader of reviews and I don't write them often. After having a few shiatsu's with Anna I felt like she offers something very special that deserves praise and spreading the word. I'm a body work junkie and I've had many, many body work sessions through my life and Anna offers a level of awareness and talent and approach that sings. Maybe some of this comes from her training in Europe where one studies for years to become certified. I think it has as much to do with her passion and giftedness for shiatsu. And for those of you not familiar with shiatsu, it integrates chinese medicine and body work with beautiful stretches and work along body meridians to release stored tensions in our body. So, not only did I enjoy the shiatsu session but I also felt like they were operating on a deeper level than many other forms of massage. Enough, just go, try it. In these times of dynamic change and transition, we are blessed to have healers like Anna in our community.

I love Arabella and I love Jena even more! I have gotten highlights a couple of times before with other stylists and they weren't careful and it made my hair fall out! Those were horrible experiences and I was, well, nervous to let anyone highlight my hair ever again. Fortunately, I decided to try Jena out (based on all the other reviews here) and she did an AWESOME job. The color was absolutely beautiful. She does a great job with the cut, as well. So, I decided to cut all my hair off in a pixie because I am nearly 30 years old and have never had short hair. Jena gave me a truly beautiful cut. When I sent pictures to my relatives, they told me I look like Keira Knightley!!! I have heard nothing but "you look so good with short hair!" since I cut it- and I owe it all to Jena. She really works with my hair's natural tendencies and the results are always beautiful. Thanks Jena! :)

Arabella salon has everything in the way of beauty treatments, from hair to massage to "face lift" acupuncture, all performed by a talented and professional staff. Owner Amanda Williams is a true hair artist--not just exceptionally skilled with technique, but also a great sense for what works well for a client's hair type and face. I totally trust her with my hair and always leave with an amazing cut that that holds its shape for weeks.

Last time I was in, I had a hand massage with Christa--definitely a treat. She's very good, as well as charming. I immediately felt comfortable and relaxed with her.

Arabella Salon is also the only one I know of in the area that carries the fantastic Davines line.

Anna Debenham has a healing touch and she delivers a massage that my body absorbs for days. I've had two treatments by Anna, who spares no detail in the warm, lovely, private environment she creates or in her highly skillful and experienced technique. She loves understanding bodies and people, and her work reflects an ability to tune in and deliver the exact treatment that you need. Anna's bodywork is enhanced by her wealth of knowledge and her energetic sensitivities. Her touch is strong, nurturing, relaxing and renewing. I loved her attention to my neck and feet and the fact that every part of my body got the attention it needed. If you love shiatzu, go to Anna. And if you've never had it you really must go to Anna.

I am somewhat of a massage junkie, as I have chronic pain issues usually combined with injuries sustained in Bikram yoga class. I've gotten tons of massages, usually deep tissue, in both California and Oregon. Since I found Anna, I have gone nowhere else!

Anna has extensive Shia tzu training. She schooled in England and Switzerland, where the training is far more intense than that usually included in LMT courses. She is very intuitive and strong, two things I look for in healers. She is also a Reiki healer and incorporates energy movement along with the bodywork.

I try to make it in to see Anna once a week for a 90 minute session. The space is cozy and lovely. Very comfortable. She uses the body pillows on the ground rather than a table which allows her greater freedom when manipulating the body. Her hands and fingers really get in to those sore spots!

Another positive about Shia tzu massage as opposed to other types of body work is that you remain clothed, so the body worker is better able to freely move your limbs around without the cumbersome drape. I am completely comfortable and relaxed during the session. It feels incredible and my pain issues are better since I started seeing Anna.

I had a shiatsu session with Anna at Arabella salon, and it was really excellent! You know how a lot of massage therapists just don't go deep enough, don't get the right spots, or (worst of all) don't have an energetic sense of your body or the healing process? Well, none of these issues came up for me while Anna was working on my body. Her hands are incredibly strong (yes!), she works on all the spots that need it most, and she has a really good body/energy sense, which I felt from beginning to end. I'll definitely be going back to Anna for more shiatsu and I recommend that you do too.

I've had many massages before, but my massage by Anna Debenham was the first Shiatsu massage I've received. I've been to Anna twice and highly recommend her. She seems to have a very good understanding of Chinese medicine and the body's meridians, which I found to be a very nice addition to my massage experience. Anna's touch was strong and deep while at the same time sensitive to my body's needs. I left feeling very relaxed. I found Shiatsu to be more healing than other massage I've received or perhaps that is just Anna's style.

This salon isn't the most obvious place to find, but once you do, you'll find a cool - loft like space with a number of stylists and a massage therapist named Nikki. I went in for a massage not to relax but with the hope to actually relieve knee and leg pain that was compromising my burgeoning running program. She listened to me and worked on the areas requested (I can't tell you how many do not listen) and you know what? For the first time in months my knee and leg didn't hurt. In fact I still don't hurt after logging 12 miles this week. So if you have pain or just want a relaxing massage in a very cool space -- give Arabella Salon a call and ask for Nikki...
I almost hate to write this because I feel like I am giving up a well kept secret...

I have been getting my hair done since I was hmmmmm....15 and I am 25 now. I am a FREAK about my hair and am very picky when it comes to it, I mean hello its your HAIR it makes you YOU! I have been going to Arabella Salon for about 2 years there and getting my hair PERFECTED by a WONDERFUL woman named PIPER DICKINSON. I get a cut and color once a month from Piper. Piper not only knows MY hair, she knows HAIR period. She knows what goes best for me and what looks good on me. MANY times I go in there and tell her I don't know what I want what do you think, 100x out of 100 I go with what she thinks EVERYTIME and I walk out of that salon looking better each and every time. She is THE BEST. Not only do I look better but even though I just put color in my hair it actually LOOKS & FEELS WAY better then before I got there now how is that possible......Piper that is why! I will never go to another hair stylist again my search is long over! Thank you Piper for making me.....beautiful!

OK first I must explain I have a bit of an obsession with my hair. Not in a shallow flip it around like I'm in a hair commercial sort of way but in a how can I the wimpy hair afflicted have a pretty fun do? I've lived in Portland for three years and I have tried five different stylists in that time with no success. That is until last week when I met Sarah at Arabella! I cannot say enough nice things about her or my fabulous new look!! I have never loved my hair so much before and I've lost count of the complimets! Yes I'm gushing but I"m just so happy. Sarah is knowledgeable, funny, personable and professional so the whole experience was great. She not only gave me a great cut and color but taught me the right products for me and how to style it in a way even I could recreate. I also love the atmosphere at Arabella and the rest of the staff were friendly and welcoming. I intend to stick with Sarah as long as she'll have me!

I was in great need of a massage, and being new in town I wasn't sure where to go. A woman I had just met referred me to Nikki at Arabella Salon. I am accustomed to getting two or three massages a month and so I am a bit picky on who works on me. I thought I'd give her a shot. Nikki was by far the best massage therapist I have ever seen. Not only did she work on the area's I really needed with much success, but she used wonderful therapy oils and delicious warm towels on my back, my feet, and neck!! She asked plenty of questions prior to the service, and when the service was over she talked with me about stretches, and other therapies that can help me maintain my body & spirit in between services. I truly feel that I have found my massage therapist! She's a delightful person, has a warm energy about her, and is well educated. Whether you are a massage veteran or a newbie, give Nikki a try... you won't regret it!

If you need your eyebrows waxed/colored make an appointment with Stephanie too! Stephanie made a perfect color match to my hair color. Not to dark - Not to light - The color was Perfect!

The Salon is a little bit of heaven off the streets of MLK. Quiet, serene, and relaxing. The ladies are very attentive to you and make sure that your experience is FIVE star. Easy parking in the back lot too!

I am thankful for putting my trust in Jena and Stephanie - I just wish I would have found them many years ago!

I have only had wonderful experiences at Arabella. I started going to see Stephanie to get my eyebrows done about three or four years ago, and she is by far the best esthetician I have ever been to. She uses a kind of wax that does not use paper strips so it's a little more expensive than other places, but the quality is so much better that I'm willing to pay it. Stephanie referred me hair stylist Piper because she had just had extentions for her. I've been very happy with the styles Piper has done for me, even though it's only been since August. Because I'm not used to having short hair I asked her to do whatever she thought would be easy to manage and stylish, and she has come thru both times. And recently Arabella brought on massage therapist Nikki and I think she is just wonderful. She not only explained to me the process she was going to go through but also ways to help between massages. I think all of the women who have helped me at Arabella are extremely nice and make sure to take care of my needs as a client. All of this excellent service AND it's in a cute loft conveniently located across from the Nike outlet. I'm so glad I found a great salon that caters to so many of my needs! It's such a relief to find a talented esthetician, a great stylist, and a knowledgeable masseuse all in one location. I'm so happy! I actually look forward to my appointments :)

Our first trip to Arabella was to find our Stylist, Sarah Bandy, who had moved from her previous location on NE Mississippi. She gave us directions to her new salon and I was thinking, Where? She told us to park in the back, which we did and that led us up to the metal fire escape stairs. When we opened the door, there was this beautiful, tranquil, lovely gem of a space that was completely unexpected.
It was such a pleasant, nurturing experience...the whole wash, cut, style thing. And such an improvement over the space that our stylist was at prior to this. Arabella is so warm and homey but classy and professional at the same time. I'm so glad to have it as my new salon, and my 10 year old daughter loves it too...which makes the whole relaxation part of the experience possible. I'd highly recommend searching it out (you do need to call ahead). It's worth the hunt. Sheila

After a visit to another Portland salon and getting a particularly awful cut, a friend referred me to Steven, saying that he has done amazing work and would be able to fix my cut. Steven was kind enough to fit me in on his day off and, after seeing my erratic cut, got right to work. He is, without a doubt, the best stylist I have ever had. He asks questions, cuts to the face, and uses his expertise to get the cut just right...he's everything I had I heard about and more! On top of all that, he's got great stories of his adventures on tour! If you're looking for a great stylist--one you can trust to do a stellar job--then Steven's your guy!

I recently visited Arabella for a haircut and hi-lite. I had read very favorable reviews about Jena so decided to make an appt. with her. BEST hair decision I have ever made! Jena knows what she is doing. She listens to you and to what you want, which is very inportant to me. I had been looking for years for someone to work with my very wavy, very thick hair. I wanted layers that I could work with and a realistic hi-lite on my blonde hair. Done.
And the proof? My husband told me four times how much he loved it!

Let me just tell you that when I went to Libby for the first time, she had her work "cut" out for her.

Long story short...I tried to bleach my own hair. And as you can guess, it didn't work. Libby took me into her hands and made me beautiful again.

She'll never do anything that you don't want and she'll always tell you her honest opinion. If she feels something won't look good on you...she won't do it.

Libby is also very educated on everything there is to know about the Davines product line. She is up to date on all the new products and knows exactly which one will keep you looking foxy.

I have to honestly say that using the Davines line has made my hair healthier, stronger and better all around. I've gotten so many complements and it's all because of Libby's magic!

I really liked the atmosphere in the salon but that in itself would not be enough for me to go back. I am very nervous with new stylists; Jena was great at helping me feel relaxed and comfortable. She was honest about telling me what I could and couldn't do with my hair type and she gave me a great cut. I will definitely go back to her.

I have been living in Portland for almost a year. I have gotten facials from most spas in this city. though some have been decent, I have never found that perfect facial. I am pleased to say that I have found my facialist. Her name is Stephanie, and she was wonderful. Stephanie asked all the right questions and gave me a lovely face, shoulder, and arm massage. She also has a lovely local natural facial line and a very comfy bed. Anyone who is looking for a knowledgeable facialist look no further than Stephanie at Arabella Salon.

I have seen her twice at Arabella salon and she's only been there just a few weeks.

It was an incredible treatment done by someone who clearly knows what their doing. I felt comfortable and in great hands. She was attentive and provided great advice/feedback in regards to my aliments.

I highly recommend it!

I am committed to seeing her as often as I'm able.
My misunderstanding that Shiatsu is 'painful' were completely put to rest.
It was an extremely effective massage and her use of Reiki allowed me to feel calm and centered

I've been living in Portland for over 8 years now, and it took me forever to find a stylist I liked and trusted with my long, curly and fussy hair, but Sarah Bandy is it! She's cool and mellow and really listens to you describe the type of cut you're looking for, unlike a lot of other people I've been to. I've always been happy with the results. And she's also great at doing color! I highly recommend her!!

You have to see Nikki! I have seen her several times for an one hour massage. She makes you feel very comfortable and relaxed. She will spend extra time where i feel more tense. She even finds tense muscles that I didn't even know were tense. She is very good about making sure the pressure is comfortable. I notice a difference in my body right away. Very educated. I love her and will always see her! she is my one and only!

I moved to Portland several months ago and had two bad haircuts and color...Then I found Libby! She fixed the awful color and gave me the most beautiful highlights I've ever had. Then she fixed my haircut and I have never had my hair look this good. My sister just came to visit me from Santa Barbara and the first thing she said after not seeing me for more than a year was that she's never seen my hair look this fantastic. Not only do I have a great style and color, but Libby turned me on to Davines products and my hair is so soft and yet feels like it has lots of volume..Libby listens to you...really listens..and asks questions and really takes her job seriously. I honestly have never been this happy with a stylist and I moved here from San Francisco and thought that I was getting good service. But none have compared to Libby!!

I have curly, difficult to manage hair. Jena gave me the best haircut I've ever had. Instead of over thinning it like all other hairdressers do, she worked with my hair until it ended up beautiful both curly and straight. I will definitely go back to her forever! The salon is also really cool. Other reviews say it's hard to find, but I had no trouble at all locating it. You just have to go up the stairs. Great place, great vibe, awesome haircut.

finally,Amanda is back!!! i've tried other hair stylist and they can't come close to her hair cuts or color and all of her magic tricks! Today i was especially happy after she relaxed my hair!!! wow, this new chemical free relaxing system has left my hair incredibly soft and shinny and wonderfully straight! even after a sweaty work out my hair remains straight and NO MORE FRIZZ!!!! it really is incredible for someone like me who has constantly battled with big frizzy hair for years and never has a relaxer looked or felt like this.

I've been a long time customer of Libby's and I love her new spot in Portland! Arabella has a great soothing and classy yet non-pretentious atmosphere. There is a beautiful rooftop garden. The salon was easyto find with ample parking.

Why do I love Libby?
-I always love my hair.
-Shes really great at understanding what I want even if i have a hard time explaining it.
-She takes time to straighten and style my hair perfectly before I leave.
-She gives amazing scalp massages.
-She has an extensive knowledge of the Davines product line (which btw is amazing!)
-She is very pleasant and easy to talk to.

I would recommend Libby to anybody. in fact I have and they all love her to and they love me for recommending her.

After living in portland a total of 3 years, I've had a multitude of bad salon experiences. Finally, 6 hair stylists later I was referred to Steven Lightfoot of Arabella Salon. Granted, I'm probably one of the pickiest people to ever sit in his chair. However, his confidence, knowledge and professionalism has yet to fail me. He took my hair from dark brown to a short, spunky, beautiful blonde with surprisingly little damage. Also, he has continuously given me a stunning cut that I can wear with my natural curls or straight, and it grows out beautifully everytime! I get compliments whenever I go out and have referred all my closest friends who are also now fully committed to Steven. I know searching for a new stylist can be a real pain, but rest assured you will leave Steven's chair looking fabulous!

I recently visited Arabella Salon for the first time since my stylist is now working here, this salon is so charming and cozy that I wanted to just hang out there and drink wine and read magazines the rest of the evening. Parking was very easy and location was easy to find. I saw Catherine who is just awesome. One of the best things about her is that she listens to you and will do exactly what you ask. She takes the time to get your cut and color right. Catherine has taken me from medium hair to a pixie cut, from brunette, to red to blonde...Every hair cut and color I have ever had from her brings many compliments. Great salon and great stylist!!!

I'm extremely particular about my hair color, but sadly uncreative. Libby is a wonder at creating vibrant color that I LOVE, and giving my hairdo a sassy twist that I don't have to work very hard to replicate on my own. Every time I leave her chair, I feel fresh, beautiful and confident! The product line Libby uses makes my hair feel healthy like never before, and she's careful to send me on my way with the exact products I need to use at home.

I can't say enough good things about Libby's hair magic! She also performs miracles on my unruly eye brows, and my skin doesn't break out after she waxes them (like at other salons).

Jenna is very good at what she does. The salon has a good atmosphere and I felt very comfortable being there. Thank you for the nice hair cut and color.

Sarah took me from long red hair to short blond hair without the usual identity crisis associated with such a drastic change. She let me take my time going lighter and shorter appt. by appt. and I LOVE IT. I was told twice this week that I look like a Movie Star!! I was feeling so frumpy and blah but now I have a spring in my step and a smile on my face. Thanks Sarah!!

I have been going to see Jena for over year now and have always been more than happy with the results. A friend thought we should try this salon after reading all the great reviews here we werent disappointed. Jena has an eye for color and structure and you can tell that for her styling hair is a creative outlet and not just a job. She has done my hair, my daughters and my sons and weve all been happy. She even repaired a horrible cut that I got between visits the last time I was in, thanks Jena!! The only thing I would change would be to have there to two of her so that I could get appointments more easily!

Jena did a great haircut and color for me. I recently moved to Portland from LA and had the same person taking care of my hair for 25+ years in LA.. Jena gave me the best haircut and color I have ever had!!! Great calming atmosphere soothing music to listen to, excellent products and service. Easy street parking. Worth waiting for a return call!
