My GF gave me this cute cupcake for my birthday and I've craving for it ever since... one of the best I've ever tasted. I think you can customize it a little too, cuz my GF did.

Best cupcakes and cookies in the East Bay! Teacake Bakeshop has a great selection of cookies and cupcakes that change daily. On any given day there is about ten different cookies and about 6-7 different cupcakes to choose from. Everything I have had here has been great and the location is nice, right on Bay Street. Surrounded by several restaurants including CPK, Fuddrucker's and Pomodoro, Teacake Bakeshop is the perfect place to get dessert after dinner. Lines get pretty long at night but the staff is efficient and the cupcakes are well worth the wait. Definitely a must try!

The cupcakes are delicious, and well worth the cost because they are totally a dessert!! This is not the cheap all-air-fluffy cake that disappears the second it hits your tongue, with cheap whipped frosting. This cake is flavorful and moist, with substance. They have buttermilk and regular varieties, with different textures and flavors. The frosting is also so good, I had the strawberry recently and it was like a fresh strawberry buttercream essence -- no artificial strawberry here!! It was so good, I don't know how they got so much flavor into it. Every kind of cupcake I've had here has been great, and I've had quite a few by now!

I agree with the other reviewer on the cookies. And, after a few tries, we can NOT justify spending that kind of cash on a disappointing treat: VERY dry and the frosting was a lot of fluff, not flavor. The store and it's packaging are gorgeous, though.

I tell all my foodie friends, and they all unanimously agree: Teacake Bake Shop makes the best cupcake, hands down.

I normally don't eat frosting. It's usually greasy or uninteresting. Teacake's, however, is full of flavor. I was literally left licking the sides of my cupcake box. The white chocolate chai latte cookie is also unbelievable.

I believe you can park at Bay St. for 15 minutes without paying. There's a tiny side lot for picking up food. You can also park for free across the street by Trader Joe's.

Teacake charges the same amount as other artisan cupcake makers, however the ones here are infinitely better.

I have to admit, I haven't tried the cupcakes yet. $3.50 just seems like a little too much for something I'm not really into. The cookies though... at $2 a pop, they seem a little expensive, but they're huge and fresh and have only quality ingredients. I bought a boxed dozen for a friend who is a 'cookie connoisseur' for $32. It comes in a very nice, sturdy, pink box, tied with a brown ribbon. We'll see what he thinks about that!

Anyway, give it a try. Instead of looking at it as an expensive cookie or cupcake, look at it as a cheap dessert.

Pros: Spiced Iced Molasses cookie, Orange DaVincis (only on Saturdays)

Cons: Not something I can buy for the office. I'd be happy if they had a sampler with mini cookies.

The decor at Teacake Bake shop is girly and cute but not overly so, as are the pastries. Everything here is immaculately decorated down to the plate of cookies in the window. Their pastries are pretty good, but the decorations are what's best. They have great gift ideas here, too.

PROS: Pretty decor, good products
CONS: A bit difficult to get to, with all the construction going on.
