The North County Recreation Center has a good variety of affordable classes available for all ages. However, I am very dissapointed by the Pre-K craft club. The class is a craft class for ages 2-4. I feel that the teacher is not very knowledgable of proper behavior and development of that age range. She expects the kids to sit at a table for the entire hour session. At the start of the class, she had the kids painting, but she did not give them much notice before they were finished. One child was caught particularly off gaurd and was very distraught since she was not done. The teacher waited to take her painting supplies last, but when she did, she took the brush out of the child's hands. Later, when the same girl was not working on the activity because she was still upset, the teacher would not give her the stickers for her project and said things like, "Well, you'll be the only one in the class without an eight." In addition to the way she treated the children, the craft project was one that was impossible for the kids to do. The parents had to do most of the work, and even some of the parents had a hard time figuring out how to fold the paper like the teacher did.
