Went for Sunday brunch, didn't realize it had been discontinued. Since we were already there, went ahead and ordered off menu. Big mistake. Service was awful, food when it came was not good. One person in our party told the waitress his food was inedible, she laughed and walked away (thought he was joking). Complained about service to manager, she said there was just the one waitress to take care of the whole restaurant. Will never return there! Reading the positive reviews - sounds like they were written by staff and/or mgmt...

If I had a choice I would give it less than one star. I have been going to Acapulco's for there Sunday brunch for years. It is the only thing I liked about it except their cheese sauce. The service has always been the worst service ever. The female manager and staff are always sitting and eating for customers who need service can witness. Very poor for running a food business. Employees should eat in the back and make sure their tables are taken care of first!!!! And no more Sunday brunch!! Big mistake, will not go back. Don't waste your time or money!!!

Horrible service, the "waitress" was more worried to tending the bar than her diners. Repeatedly tried to get her attention just to get our check. My wife wanted a refill on her pop and we never were even asked if we needed anything else. Not only that, this waitress decided it was necessary to overserve some college students who were loud and obnoxious already. I tried complaining to the manager and she just made some excuses about how they had new cooks and were short on staff. The food wasn't the problem and I counted only 2 other tables in our section of the restaurant. Poor management at it's finest, the food and prices are good but I think they need to look for some better management and waitresses.

The service is always prompt and friendly. The cheese dip, I STRONGLY suggest you try. However, once you do you will never be able to go back and not order it again. The fajitas are great, you could share them with whomever you're with. I've never had a bad meal or experience from Acapulco and I've eaten there at least once a month for the past three years.

This has to be the BEST mexican restaraunt I have ever been to. The food is fresh and flavorful-- absolutely amazing. The portions are HUGE and so good you want to eat it all even when it's not physically possible-lol. Service is top notch and I enjoy tipping good service! I second the cheese dip appetizer and also recommend their frieed ice cream!

This is the best mexican restaraunt ever!

My husband and I were first exposed to their delicious recipes at a street fair in Stillwater on our Honeymoon 8 years ago. We had gotten some nachos from a tent that had this amazing cheese sauce that is hard to explain. We had no idea what restaraunt had made it! How depressed! LOL

Finally they redecorated a few years back and we noticed their bold new Restaraunt front and wondered, could this be it? So we gave it a try and we were right!

The food is to die for. Taco bell it is NOT. Fresh and tasty!

This place is just wonderful! The owners obviously take pride in serving fabulous food. The waitstaff is average. I love ordering something different everytime I go. You must start with the cheese dip. Even if you are out in downtown Stillwater for the day, eat your meal at Acapulco!

Pros: Cheese dip, fajitas, quesadillas

Cons: need someone to wheel you out after eating there!

★☆☆☆☆

Ok, I'm Mexican, and know what Mexican food should taste like. This was trully a horrible experience. My wife ordered an enchilada and taco, and couldn't finish either because it was so bad. She lost her appetite for the rest of the day. The enchilada sauce looked like it came straight from a can and tasted the same. I ordered fajitas, and they were pretty bland for a dish that should be full of flavor. The rice and beans were reminiscent of school cafeteria food. The best thing was the chips, which seemed homemade. The salsa was just a bit more spicier than ketchup.

If you have a sensitive stomach, then this may be the place for you. I'd rate this place lower than one star if I could. You won't ever find me in this place again.

Pros: chips aren't to bad

Cons: the food.

★★★★★

Good margaritas (if you use the top shelf stuff), excellent food, good service. We come here quite often when we need our "Mexican fix"!

★★★★★

I always take friends here when they come to town. The food is well presented and good portions at a good price. It is very popular....

Pros: Good selection, Real Tamales, Nice Decor...

Cons: Crowded

★★★☆☆

My first time there I ordered my favorite mexican meal, enchiladas and was letdown big time. They were dry with barely any cheese. They also lacked mexican flavor and pizazz. However, I decided to try this place a second time and this time the service was embarrassing. When my group of 8 requested more salsa we were informed that they were out. This would have been understandable considering we were dining quite late... except the servers were pouring bottles of salsa(at least 20 of them) right before our eyes! I will not give this average place a third chance, not worth the time or money.

Pros: chips and salsa

Cons: , bad service, bland food

★☆☆☆☆

I've tried Acapulco a few times thinking my first and second bad experiences there were just flukes, but obviously not. Time and time again my enchaladas were not warm all the way through...the cheese inside was still in it's grated form, and still felt cool like it was straight from the fridge. It's crowded as well and prices aren't that great....La Casita has got all of my business from now on, their food is always nice and hot!

Cons: Food's not hot, noisy

★★★★★

The food at the Coon Rapids Acapulco restaurant is fantastic. The chips are freshly made as is the rest of the food on the menu. Try the seafood enchilada. It is very busy and the dining room can be quite noisy, but you can also opt for the patio in warm weather. The service is excellent.

Pros: fast service, inexspensive, good authentic food

Cons: noisy dining room, crowded

★★★★★

great food, could be better service, very reasonable, but very busy

Acapulco Mexican Restaurant in Coon Rapids is the best authentic mexican food in the Twin Cities. The friendly services provided by the Spanish speaking servers along with great food and great prices is by far the best in town. The margaritas are pretty good as well. Try the white cheese sauce--yummy!!!

Pros: inexpensive, lots of food, friendly waitstaff

Cons: small bar area, crowded

★★★★★

Every item I have tried on the menu is simply fantastic! I have mexican friends who say this place is the most authentic mexican restaurant they have ever been to. Try the Chimichanga and Strawberry margaritas!

Pros: Inexpensive, Authentic, Outside patio

Cons: Atmosphere, Waiting Area

★★★★★

This is the real Mexican food as the food I have had in Cozumel. The margarittas are good, too.

★☆☆☆☆

I have eaten at many Mexican resturants across the USA and this one takes the award for the Worst food ever. Save your money and go to Taco Bell.

Cons: Tastless

★★★★★

Acapulco is by far the best Mexican restaurant around. The food is AWESOME and authentic, the prices are very reasonable, the staff is friendly, the ambience is relaxing, and the owner is EXTREMELY generous (he's always there to help out his staff). Check out the strolling Mariachis! There is also a new location in Maplewood right by Maplewood Mall.

Pros: Great prices!, Friendly staff, Good menu

Cons: None
