Do you have a sweet tooth in Manhattan? Here's your answer. Push through its front door to buy one of its custom-made birthday cakes. Alarmingly realistic decorative flowers and amazing rich buttercream icing are the shop's trademarks. If cakes and cupcakes aren't your thing try one of thier homemade doughnuts or muffins instead. If you have an interest in learning the fine art of cake making classes are available. Also, don't forget you can place all your orders online and have them delivered. To Sum it all up if you're looking for the best buttercream icing in the city Cupcake Cafe is your answer.
This store has a bit more seating than most of the cupcake places in NYC. They have a cute set up with a book store attached. The cupcakes are pretty good. Not the best but a very nice try. Way better than Magnolia's.

The cupcakes are just crazy good. The red velvet cupcake is my favorite.
The wait is sometimes a little long, but well worth it.
Good price, great taste!

This is a great little bakery that appears to be a sleepy little neighborhood spot. They make wonderful cakes and deserts. they are very popular so a wait should be expected if you're just stopping in for cupcakes. They have a great cookbook too! i've used it quite a bit.

While this place is a little off the beaten path, it is well worth the trip. My sister introduced me to this place when they first opened and I've been asking her for cupcakes ever since. My favorite is the mocha cupcake, which is really like a slice of cake. The double chocolate cupcakes are also very tasty and rich. These desserts also last a while - I do not know a single person who can eat one in one sitting.

The cakes here are amazing, they are always very dense. Their is a great selection for cake fillings, frostings and pretty much any type of decoration on top they'll do. Cupcake Cafe also has amazing cupcakes, of course, danishes, other great selections of muffins as well as tea and coffee.
PROS: You can order a cake only a day before for pickup.
CONS: All sweet stuff, not too much with nutritional value.

They goofed on an order but made it right with absolutely NOOOOOOOO hassle. I ordered a cake from my home in Wisconsin to be delivered. My friend said it was the most gorgeous birthday cake she had ever seen! Tasted incredible, too! (lemon with raspberry filling). Highly recommend this establishment.

The cupcake cafe has the best cupcakes in NYC. The store is on the small side, but plenty of room for these amazing cupcakes. Stop by to pick up a few, or place an order. They even deliver. They come in a variety of colors, and are perfect for office birthdays or showers. They also have other pastries, in case (gasp) someone doesn't like cupcakes.

Some prefer Magnolia on Bleecker, some prefer Buttercup on Second Ave. I prefer Cupcake cafe. The cupcakes are more nicely decorated and the cakes don't have that thick cloudy buttery taste that seems to overwhelm so many others. The shop is rundown and could be a bit more sanitary for my sake but that being said these are great cupcakes and only in New York would this store, due to its rundown nature rate only a four star review. There are so many great cupcakes currently available here its incredible.

I have had my birthday cakes from here since I was growing up, and even after 20 years and all the new spots around town, no one could ever come close to the beautiful cakes that the cupcake cafe makes. Thank you guys for all the beautiful birthday memories and I hope there will be many more to come!! p.s. I love the chocolate cake with mocha buttercream - so delish!
Pros: best cakes in the city

This is the nicest coffee shop in midtown to get away from it all and read the times or meet a friend.
Excellent espresso drinks and the doughnuts are divine! Beautiful cupcakes and cakes too. They definitely get my business every time there's a birthday. y-u-m
Pros: coffee, doughnuts, pies, cupcakes, cute cafe
Cons: What are the drawbacks?

We loved this place and ordered cupcakes from here every month (sometimes 2x/mo) for our company parties. We wanted to have an actual little get together at the cafe for a colleague and the owner was so obnoxious, we've decided not to do business with them anymore. I don't know if it's the economy or what, but seems to me that owners/proprietors of establishments should be super nice to customers - especially good ones - if they want to survive.
I will tell everyone not to go here from now on.
Pros: Great Cupcakes
Cons: The Owner is NASTY

I went to casa a few weeks ago on a date and really enjoyed it. It had a cool atmosphere, very cozy. The wait to get coffee was a little long because there was just 1 guy at the counter. It was well worth it though as the cappuccino was excellent (note: there's no menu because they don't do specialty drinks- it's coffee, cappuccino, espresso, or tea). I also had a chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting which was delicious. I got the small size and wished I had gotten the larger one. Next time!
