My friends and I see a ComedySportz show about once a month since the shows are always different, and we always enjoy them. They have never been anything less than laugh-out-loud funny, and it's amazing what they can come up with on the spot. Note that the show has has nothing to do with sports. It's just two teams playing improvisational games with a "referee" who keeps score. The audience gets to suggest ideas for the games and vote on which team wins each round. The shows are great for families (since there is no "naughty" language), but I think a kid would need to be at least 7 to understand it. Tickets are only $15 for adults and $12 for students/children. There is no food or beverage minimum like most comedy clubs. They have a full cafe that serves soda, coffee, beer, wine, salads, sandwiches, and snack food, so you can hang out there before the show. They've changed locations a couple of times in the last few years, but now they are in the Camera 3 theater near San Jose State. Their nice new theater has good sound and lighting, new comfy chairs with cup holders, and a custom-built elevated stage so there are no bad seats in the house. Most of the time you can walk up to the door and get seats, but I recommend buying tickets on their website in advance if you have a group of people or it's a special show (it also makes checking in at the ticket area much faster). Also on Friday nights if you see the first show, you can stay around and see the second show (they call it the "Midnight Show") for free!
