Our 8 year old Lab mix had TPLO surgery a little over a year ago, and our experience at The Andrew Sams Clinic was fabulous. Esme does not normally like to go to the vet; I have to coax her through the door. Even after her surgery, and over night stay at The Sams Clinic she would pull me through the front door, excited to see everybody. She is generally wary of strangers and is slow to warm but loved the entire staff here. Unfortunately, she may just have torn the ccl on the other knee this morning. I am anxious about the prognosis but will be taking her to Dr. Sams because I would have nobody else.

My dog, Peanut, had been limping off and on for years. She had been seen by several regular vets, none could find anything wrong. Finally I was referred to Dr. Sams. He figured out the problem, a bone chip in her elbow. She had arthroscopic surgery to remove it and had a great recovery. Dr. Sams is a really great vet, answers all your questions and explains everything very thoroughly. All the staff are excellent too. The facility is super, all the latest equipment, even a CT scanner right on site. I know dozens of people who have had their pets treated by Dr. Sams and every single one of them has told me how well their pet did and how much they like Dr. Sams.

This review is really a testimonial to the skill of Dr. Andrew Sams. Boomer, our German Shepherd, was a patient of Dr. Andrew Sams before his Mill Valley clinic opened. In 1999, Dr. Sams performed Boomer's first surgery (at 13 age months) for OCD/elbow dysplasia. Months later, Boomer underwent his second surgery for the same disorder on his other leg. At the time we didn't have access to the wonderful new post surgical therapies now available to dogs in Dr. Sams new clinic but, nevertheless, Boomer has had a remarkable recovery and over 7 years of active and relatively pain-free mobility - far more than we anticipated given the extent of his pre-surgery OCD condition. Although we followed Dr. Sams' instructions for post surgical care and rehab to the letter, I have to credit Dr. Sams' skill as a surgeon for the success story that Boomer has become. Any animal treated by Dr. Sams and his staff is sure to have excellent recovery potential, and his new clinic with its state of the art facilities will certainly enhance the recovery process. Elaine B., and Boomer

"I brought my dog to the Andrew Sams Clinic & Specialty Hospital, a state of the art 8,500 square foot facility, located in Mill Valley and I love this place!

All aspects of orthopaedic care are made available to the clients including surgery and medical management. They offer orthopaedic surgery, arthroscopy, fracture repair, TPLO, osteoarthritis management, angular limb correction, orthopaedic oncology, bone tumor treatment, digital radiography, computed tomography (CAT scan), canine physical rehabilitation, and a hydrotherapy pool.

Minimally invasive methods are emphasized and used whenever possible. The goal for each patient is to return them to the highest level of activity and comfort. Patient care and client education are an integral part of the practice.

They also have a hydrotherapy rehabilitation pool. The water temperature is around 83 degrees, which is very comfortable for the dogs and assists in the stretching of tissues. One of the nurses lead my dog down a ramp into the pool and swan with him during the session. My dog had a great time!"
