Thank you BAH
My husband and I took our shelter star, Jake to BAH for over seven years. The first time we realized how dedicated and compassionate the staff at BAH was was when Jake accidentally ingested some critter bait the the evening before a party we were hosting for 65 people on 12/23/2001. Dr. Brett expedited lab work for us and treated Jake with vitamin K. Over the years Jake went for routine care and we thought we had many more years with him. In late January of 2008, Jake suddenly became quite ill. Over the course of three weeks Dr. Brett and Dr. Jill ran tests and treated Jake. When he did not respond to treatment, we were sent to Langhorne Emergency where an US determined he had hemangiosarcoma of the spleen that had spread to his liver and he was bleeding into his belly. We were told there was nothing that could be done except end his suffering. Dr. Jill and the office staff waited for us keeping the office open so Jake could die in familiar surroundings. After Jake's death Dr. Jill and Dr. Brett called us to see how we were doing and are now taking care of Murphy, a sweet boy we adopted from a rescue group. I stopped in yesterday to pick up Murph's heartworm meds and Dr. Brett again made time to ask how we were doing. These people are wonderful.

BAH a great vet!!
Yesterday my cat who was only 3 years old had to be put to sleep due to genetic heart disease. I was in desperate need of a vet close by because he was very sick & needed attention immediately. My friend referred me to BAH. I called & explained my situation and the woman i spoke to told me i needed to being him in ASAP. When we got there she knew exactly who we were and brought us back immediately because she knew there was something terribly wrong. Putting my cat to sleep was like loosing my child. I do have 2 young boys but our cat meant the world to us. It was the toughest decision ive had to make thus far in my life. The woman COULD NOT have been anymore compassionate and caring. The girls at the desk couldnt have been either offering me tissues and telling me how sorry they were for our loss. Also, the woman who took care of us and our baby told me that in a few months she would call me to find out if we were ready for a new kitten & that she personally would help us find one. As far as im concerned they were some of the best. Whoever begs to differ really isnt in their right mind. If the girls who work there read this ... being in my distraught state yesterday i dont remember the name of the woman who was with us, if by chance you read this please call me because i would love to talk to you and thank you for your outstanding service and true compassion. my name is jen.

Thank you
My husband and I very recently had to have our dog Lucy put down. It was very hard for both of us. She was only 7 and had the disposition of a puppy her whole life. There were no signs of her being sick at all until one day when I came home on my lunch break to let her out she was lying by the door to my bedroom and wasn't in the window waiting for me like she usually was. When she got up to go outside (with lots of prompting) I could tell there was something terribly wrong with her by the way she was walking she got outside and collapsed on my back lawn. I called my husband to come home and immediately called the vet and explained the situation. They told me to come right over.
Dr. Geffen examined her and asked me if she could have gotten into anything like rat poison or Tylenol, I told him no I have 2 small kids and I can't leave stuff like that lying around my house. My husband got there just in time for Dr. Geffen to tell us she was critical. He said they could do a chest xray and some other tests and then they would have to send her off to a hospital affiliated with them that handled critical cases. I explained money was an issue for us. Dr. Geffen then said if he could tell us there was a 60% chance they would be able to save her he would suggest they should go on with the testing. He said even if they could save her he didn't know what kind of quality of life she would have.
That would've been his time to pad the bill if he was going to do it. He could have told us to go on with the testing and he didn't. He made a very hard decision for my husband and I easier. After she was put to sleep Dr. Geffen told us how sorry he was. He said he would have made the same decision if it was his dog. He also said thank god they very rarely see cases as severe as Lucy's was. So thank you Dr. Geffen for being so honest and understanding. We miss Lucy very much and I wish we could have her back with us everyday but that wouldn't have been fair to Lucy who loved to walk, run, play and play ball with the best of them. RIP Lucy. I don't know what we are going to do without you.

I can't believe what I am reading
Okay- My dog is the best thing that has happened to me as an owner. I love her and would do anything for her. I would never compromise anything that wouldn't be in her best interest. She is like my child (because I don't have any). I take her to The Blvd Animal Hospital and I wouldn't change that for anything. I don't have any relatives that work there nor do I get paid to say this. They are wonderful with my dog and I have never had any complaints about anyone there. They are consistently busy and sometimes might get frustrated but who wouldn't when you have a room full of barking dogs & meowing cats. They do the best they can and my dog is getting healthier because of them. I had to take her for an ultrasound to Langhorne and the girls THERE had attitudes and didn't know if I was coming or going. The doctor who preformed her ultrasound was nice but the receptionist where scrambling worse than BAH. I would tell people that BAH is wonderful and Dr. Amy Beaverson is the best and takes care of her patients.

Great Vets, Bad Reviews Are Wrong
I never post reviews but was compelled to do so when I read the bad reviews of Boulevard Animal Hospital. My whole family has been going to them for years and we have never been mislead in either treatment or diagnosis of our pets. The staff at times can be a little stressed because the office gets extremely crowded (due to the fact that the are very popular because they provide good care, and also because they won't turn patients away if their pet has a serious issue or emergency -- I know this first hand from my own experience and also from overhearing them tell people on the phone to bring their pet right in). However, I would never say that they are uncaring or unkind.
Dr. Brett Geffen in particular is super. Last year we had to put one of our cats to sleep after a long battle with cancer and Dr. Brett and the rest of the staff couldn't have been nicer or more compassionate when we went through that difficult time. They sent us a sympathy card a few days afterwards, and the next time we came in for an appointment for one of our other cats, there was a long wait and Dr. Brett came over to us before it was our turn, in between his appointments, just to say hello and ask us how we were doing. You don't find many people, let alone doctors, who are that thoughtful and caring. I have been nothing less than impressed with the care our pets receive at Boulevard Animal Hospital and wanted to make sure everyone knows about it.

Obviously Friends are involved
This vet office is horrific. It's a nightmare for dogs, overcharging and an overall disgrace of an office. They don't care, they're about the money and hopefully you know this before going there. The Geffens are evil, and don't care about your pets, just your wallet.
Be Advised! Don't go there!
Obviously friends, or maybe the employees themselves are posting the "good" comments, because this place is a hell for your animal and wallet.

They are SO wonderful!!!
I don't normally get involved in this stuff but I read the bad reviews of Boulevard Animal Hospial and I just could NOT disagree more. I have a dog that was badly abused before we got him so he is extremely skittish to have anyone touch him, especially for vet exams.
The previous vet we took him to used to scream at him whenever my dog growled. Yes, we use a muzzle for safety but he has NEVER actually bitten or hurt anyone and how in the world a VET who is supposed to work with animals could scream at one is beyond my comprehension. When I finally had enough of that behavior, on a recommendation, I took him to Boulevard.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! They are so incredibly kind and caring. ALL of the vets and techs are wonderful with him and he rarely growls or barks anymore when he is examined. He loves all the people there and I would never, ever go anywhere else with my pets. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats and they all love the staff at Boulevard!!!

Worst Vet Ever!
I recently bought a dog, and my father's had one for 14 years. I go to another vet, and he goes/went to the Geffens. The care my dog receives is millions of times better than the Geffens. They misdiagnose, are horrible as far as question/answering and extremely arrogant and uncaring. This place is just a horrible place for dogs/pets/anyone! They treated my dad's dog with the worst care and basically were the cause of many more problems. I hate this place, it should be condemned for how awful they treat pets. You'd be better off taking your dog to a concentration camp that this hell. Michael Vick cares more about your dog than the Geffens.

Great vets, great people
I've been taking my 2 cats to Boulevard Animal Hospital for 3 years now. My first, Pepper, was an injured stray kitten I found outside my house, and they cleaned him up and briefed me extensively on caring for him - he was my first pet. I credit them with his good health and fantastic development. The second stray I took there, Peggy, suffers from a birth defect (a malformed rear foot missing some toes). They've kept her in excellent shape. They are courteous, maintain convenient hours, and the vets I've dealt with, particularly both Jerry and Brett Geffen (father and son) are great, wonderful with animals, and extremely courteous. Those who gripe about their "unprofessionalism" don't seem to appreciate the staff's need to keep order in this very busy practice.
I've taken my cats to the emergency place in Langhorne in a fix, but I think they're far less efficient, and although they're courteous, I've been unhappy with the care there on at least one occasion, when they actually hurt the foot I took Peggy in for treatment on. The place in Langhorne also tends to be more costly. I'd go with BAH anytime I had a choice.

Glad I checked the reviews
I was thinking of switching to BAH for regular care and am glad I read the reviews. I have 3 doxies and spend a lot on veterinary care. For the person who had an emergency and couldn't get an "appointment" with anyone, in an emergency go to Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Center, Langhorne, PA 215-750-7884. Call, they will tell you exactly how to get there. They have every type of specialist and they are wonderful caring people -- right down to the receptionists! I don't think they would tolerate for a minute anyone rude working for them. They do not handle regular veterinary care like shots, etc.; you see your regular vet for that. I can't say that the cost there is cheap but considering the service and care you get, it's worth every penny. They are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Just a little info
I promised myself I would not get involved in feedback websites but my brother brought this to my attention. So here I go....I am a long time client at Boulevard Animal Hospital. My mom comes here, my brothers come here even my uncle comes here. I have had a total of 4 animals put to sleep there over the last 10 years. The staff is very compassionate and caring. The girls that worked there actually cried with me since they knew my pets for a long time. I want people to know that a few of the techs go to people's houses to give fluids to cats and dogs in kidney failure, drive some of the senior clients home, Drop off medications and pet foods to those who have a hard time getting to the hosp. They also call to check on your pet after surgery or a sick visit. How do I know this? I was one of the many people who witnessed this first hand. I read the other reviews that mentioned the staff saying they were rude, etc........quite honestly it's far from the truth.

OUTSTANDING
My dog recently cut his paw on glass. When I saw all the blood I knew she needed stitches.I called my vet ( at the time- someone I'd been going to for years ) and was told "They were booked" and I could call another vet to see if they had an appt. for me. ARE YOU KIDDING? Call another vet? After I picked my jaw up off the floor I started calling local vets. Only one hospital had an appt.. I couldn't believe how nice they were at Blvd Animal Hospital . The vet assistant came right over and checked my dog's paw. I could see it was bad by the look in her eye. She quickly took myself and my dog into a surgery room where we were immediately met by a woman vet. Dr. Michelle was very understanding and explained that my dog needed stitches, the wound was deep. I returned 2 hours later to find a very sleepy but happy dog with a bandaged paw. I read the other reviews listed for this hospital and I have say I was very happy with the staff. They were professional and courteous. AND my bill was very reasonable. Needless to say I transferred all my animals records to Boulevard Animal Hospital.

BAH
I HAVE BEEN GOING TO BAH FOR AWHILE. I HAVE A ELDERLY DOG AND TOOK HER TO BAH - SHE WAS MISDIAGNOSED AS HAVING BAD ARTHRITIS & PUT ON MEDS. SHE WAS STILL LIMPING, SO I TOOK HER BACK TO BAH. THANK GOD I SAW DR. HOFFMAN, HE INSTANTLY KNEW THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG AND TOOK A X-RAY. HER ELBOW WAS BROKE. SHE SINCE HAS HAD SURGERY TO REPAIR IT. THE ONLY VET AT BAH THAT KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS DR. HOFFMAN. HE IS VERY COMPASSIONATE & WILL FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG EVERY TIME. I ONLY SEE DR. SEAN HOFFMAN!
AND YES, THE FRONT DESK IS RUDE.
WATCH OUT FOR ROLLING EYES FROM THE RED HEAD....

Best Vet Experience Ever
I recently moved to the Philly area from Illinois and as a dog owner one of the first things I did of course was to find a new vet for my labrador. Thank GOD I found the BAH!!!! They saved my dogs life. I found the entire staff to be extremley professional and my vet, Brett Geffen was very compassionate and attentive. Not only that the prices were about 30% less than my last Vet in Illinois. If you love your pet you should go to this Vet. If you don't love your pet take him/her elsewere.

WORST OF THE WORST???
This place is quite possibly, the worst Vet I have ever been to. YES, THE WORST. Rude, obnoxious, people run this place. Over the top charges for basic pet services, and substandard pet care.
I'm ususally one to live by the mantra "Kill them with kindness", when I encounter unlikeable people. Well it doesn't apply to this place. Towards the end of my visit my blood pressure must have been through the roof. Would you believe they were trying to charge me $200 for an "examination" of my new puppy. I just brought him in for his first checkup!!!! THEN they INSISTED, that he be fixed right then and there. Just for grins I asked how much that would be......$350 plus shots!!!! That's when I lost it and told her you got to be out of you F-in mind.
Do yourself and your beloved pet a big favor, and stay away from Boulevard Animal Hospital ran by the father and son team Dr. Geffen's. This place should be shut down.

Got a million bucks?
I used to work at this hospital, and had continually been told by clients that I was the only nice one there. I have to let you know that the owners DO charge whatever they want. Their friends with money don't have to pay a thing, and the poor people just trying to help animals get charged an arm and a leg. There are a few girls in there that I am still friends with - and they really are sweet, and they do care about you and your pets, but there definitely are some, including the owner, that are rude, unprofessional, and inappropriate, you will definitely know the difference. Also, the young Dr. Geffen is a remarkable doctor, so if you ever do have a million dollars and tough skin - ask to see him.

Very Rude, Unfriendly & Unprofessional all around
I took my dog to this vet for a couple of years. She was a rottweiler & they were ok with that when she was little. Once she grew bigger they treated her completely different. My rottweiler was not vicious or nasty by any means. I always had her on a leash, of course, when I brought her in. Often times there were other dogs in the waiting area & when i would bring her in the other dogs would immediately start barking at her. My dog was not much of a barker but of course she did bark back...that's what most dogs do. The girls at the desk & the assistants (witht the acception of 1 or 2) are all very rude & very unprofessional. There was one time where they addressed me as saying "you, take her in that room" referring to me & my dog because my dog had barked back at the others. They have literally given all of the other dogs in the waiting room bones while my dog sat at the doorway watching. One particular time I brought my girl in because her lip had swollen up for an unknown reason. We waited in the room for 45 minutes ( my dog would never feel comfortable enough to fall asleep at the vet's office but fell sound asleep on the floor at my feet due to the extremely long wait) . The doctor finally comes barging in the room in a rush & startled her causing her to bark. She quickly calmed down after I calmed her. The doctor then sat across the room from us & asked me to examine her lip & describe it to him! He was the young male doctor there. The older woman doctor is very rude, unfriendly & unprofessional in manner. One time while she was examining my girl, one o f the vet tech's (she resembles Tammy Baker due to the amount of makeup on her face...no exaggeration) comes in the room & says exactly this "Oh God, I wouldn't want to go near that face!" talking about my dog. How inappropriate was that ? They act very arrogant & unappreciative. Do yourself a favor & take your animal to a different veterinary office.

Average Pet Care
I began taking my new kitten there and they misdiagnosed her condition several times. I understand not everything is picked up on the first visit but they continually charged higher and higher fees although they did less and less. The vet assistants are nice enough but on each of my visits all but one veterinarian behaved as if my kitten's problems were just a nuisance to them and they didn't listen well. Kept insisting they knew what the problem was but each time they were wrong.Ended up paying hundreds of dollars for a condition that should have been resolved on the first visit and actually was, my first visit with my new vet.
