I used to live in Astoria just around the corner from Artopolis Bakery and can honestly say this is the best Greek bakery in NYC. It has the most delicious spanakopitakia (mini spinach pies), a galaktoboureko ( custard layered in phyllo) that rivals my moms and the best kourabiethes (butter cookies sprinkled with tons of powdered sugar) I have ever tasted.

Decent fare when everything else is closed, I have had no problem with delivery and I order here regularly, but it is considerably more expensive then the other diners inthe area....

I stopped in the other day for an ice coffee. When I walked in everything looked too good to pass up. So I got to pick what I wanted and enjoyed a pistachio biscotti with my delicious coffee. While I was there I walked around and noticed that they have a great selections of cakes and other yummy treats, my next bbq or family party I will def. be bringing my cake from Artopolis. yummy!

Wonderful authentic greek sweets. Coffee`s great too. If you`re ever in astoria, definitely a great address. The only thing I wasn`t crazy about were the cheese pies. They were dry and heavy. They should light and flaky. However, the cooking are all wonderful! A must try! And the place is beautiful. My only exception for a strip mall!

Artopolis is located in a corner of the Agora Plaza in Ditmars. They have Greek specialties, including baklava (layers of phyllo dough, honey, and pistachio nuts), melomakarona (a honey dipped walnut cookie), galaktoboureko (custard in crispy phyllo dough), and kourambiethes (powder sugar-covered cookie). The cakes are beautifully decorated. They have miniature and big versions. I've brought the White Chocolate Mousse and Strawberry Mousse to parties. I tried an iced frappe once and was unable to finish because the coffee was too strong for my taste. Other offerings include fruit tarts, breads, spinach/cheese pie, and more. The store is very tastefully decorated.

PROS: Greek desserts, cakes, strong coffee, quality
CONS: strong coffee (depends on the person), price

This place has the best desserts/baked goods around! I frequently come here, and have tried a variety of things from the Raspberry Mousse to the baklava to the bougatsa to the spinach pie and even the bread...and its all phenomenal. The desserts look as good as they taste. The staff is very patient and helpful.
