Heartland Cafe

This is simply a must for anyone who will be in the Rogers Park area--the atmosphere is FABULOUS and there is a cool shop inside, with lots of treasures! They have music too--now what else do you need?

With an extensive menu utilizing local and sustainable foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Heartland Cafe is a place to enjoy tasty and filling reasonably priced meals without a sense of guilt. The restaurant is casual and homey, with a separate bar area as well as general store for your holistic needs.

Heartland Cafe is a must for anyone interested in counter-culture. That being said, the food is amazing. Atmosphere aside, I would eat here because of the food. They have an amazing variety and can accommodate special dietary needs. At night, they have live music. Personally, I just go here when I need good cornbread, coffee, and TLC.

Heartland Cafe, located in Roger's Park, is a sort of hippe health food institution. Part of a complete progressive movement, including a theater, bar, and general store, the Heartland cooperative is all about good things for your mind, body, and soul -- and the restaurant does not disappoint.

Offering something for everyone, vegans, vegetarians, and meat-eaters alike, the menu is huge! Mexican, American, comfort food, burgers, stir fry -- anything you could want, all prepared healthfully and at reasonable prices.

They support local organic farmers, as well as local and small-scale breweries. There is live music on the weekends, and occasionally you will run into a special benefit. Customers come from all walks of life. This is a fantastic fun place to go, not only for their fabulous food, but for the fun atmosphere.
