.

My 4 year old went to a birthday party here for a friend of hers. I never even knew this place existed.

A old house in Richmond that is right in the middle of a neighborhood has a section of the main level decorated for tea parties. One room is filled with dressup clothes, shoes, custume jewelry, hats and accessories for the girls to wear.

The girls can dress in private behind a dressing partition. They can have their nails painted, make-up applied and a swoosh of glitter powder on their shoulders.

The girls then go to the dining area for some "real tea", snacks and cake. You need to bring your own cake. After that they move to the main room for gift opening and pictures with the birthday girl.

Each girl will be given a digital print of themselves with the birthday girl and a small party gift.

My daughter has been here before and to another teaparty place about 40 minutes away. Since I had something to compare it to, I was sort of disappointed with Teacups.

The girls were happy, but I knew the other place offered way more options, the bags were better and they supplied sandwiches and cake. The girls also had a choice (if party mom took option) to get an updo. I really wanted my daughter to do this, so I payed a hair stylist friend of mine to come and do the girls hair.

Overall the girls loved it. I had a few issues. Right when I wanted to book my party, the owner didn't want to have it for 4 year olds anymore. Plus, I supposedly had an old flyer with outdated prices. I was given a break, but was still overcharged. It took a couple of weeks before I got my money back.

It's a cute place, the girls love it. As a mom, I'd only do it once, however, I do prefer the other place that's in Algonquin.
