Awful Service!  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

My stray was seen by Memorial Cat Hospital. Ultimately, my cat had
to be seen by another vet to resolve the issue. The prices are over inflated
and the office staff is rude, disorganized and verbally abusive. Why
the vet allows this type of behavior is beyond me. There are much better options in Houston for a feline only vet. In addition, check your bill for any
discrepancies. (see other negative review for billing issues also)

Although they advertise to be "stress free" and provide "superior medical
care", I found this personally to be far from the case.

WONDERFUL & CARING PLACE TO TAKE YOUR CATS  5 Star Rating - World class

My cats have gone to Memorial Cat Hospital since it's been open - over 15 years and I would not go anywhere else. Drs Folger and Pittari and their staff have been with me through sad times and happy times and I trust them totally with the health of my cats.
When my cats are at Memorial Cat Hospital, I feel like they are getting the best - care from 2 board certified specialists and their staff who always show kindness, compassion and love to my kids.

Bravo Memorial Cat Hopstail!!!!!  5 Star Rating - World class

After moving to Houston some years ago, I was disappointed with the veterinary care my cats received from many local veterinarians. They lacked the level of expertise required to treat the uniqueness of cats. As cat owners can atest to, cats are not small dogs!

Memorial Cat Hospital was recommended to us. And, from the moment I arrived, I knew I had found what my two cats had lacked with other veterinarians: board certified feline specialists who are leaders among their peers who bring a superior level of experience, commitment to the feline species, compassion, kindness and honesty.

Through the years, each visit reinforces my initial decision to seek superior care. One of my cats has lymphoma, high blood pressure, and thyroid disease and the other cat also has thyroid disease, hence, I visit Memorial Cat Hospital regularly. I have seen Drs. Folger, Pittari, and Addleman. I can only hope my human doctors give me the kind of care my two cats receive!

I have been a client now for over 7 years. The staff is warm, courteous knowledgeable, helpful. Both staff and kennel workers make it a point to greet my cats by name, often sharing their experiences with them when they (the staff/kennel workers) have interacted with them.

I have come to find out there are only 72 Boarded Feline Specialists in the world! The Houston community is fortune to have the premier, professional services of Drs. Folger, Pittari and Addleman.

Great Hospital and Staff  5 Star Rating - World class

We love going to MCH. Fixed our cat's swollen paw within days. Probably a fight wound. Caring people and the highest level of medicine and care. They called us back to check on Chester, even remember his name when we walk in! Can't remember that happening at other vets.

You can have confidence in these folks and we've recommended several of our friends - all have been happy.

You can't make everyone happy, but they come the closest I've seen!

Thanks MCH!!

Verify their rates and is this a feline specialist?  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

I made arrangements at MCH to dayboard my cat who is recovering from hepatic lipidosis. He is eating some on his own but still needs two small daily feedings via a PEG tube. He is on multiple liquid medications from Gulf Coast Vet Spec. plus supplements prescribed by a holistic vet. The staff and technicans provided excellent care and my cat's health improved dramatically. Each day, at checkout I was presented with an invoice that I paid with no questions. Midway through the third week, however, Dr. Folger (medical director) called me and said that the time required to care for my cat was "excessive" and that the clinic was "losing money" on his care. I was stunned. In my opinion it was up to the office to determine what the daily rate should be; it doesn't make sense to blame the client if the office under charges. Somhow it had become "my fault" that MCH was "losing money". I had gladly paid what I was charged and would have been willing to pay whatever I was asked to pay. The second and more disturbing concern, though, is that for a facility whose mission is to "provide superior medical care for our feline patients" how does Dr. Folger define "excessive"? What part of a treatment plan may he decide to eliminate or disregard if, in his opinion, it is "excessive"? He recommended that I stop the tube feedings, put out some food for Revere and just "wait him out" until he started to eat on his own. That he'd eat when he was hungry. I have moved my cat to another hospital and don't ever plan to return to MCH as long as Dr. Folger is involved.

No Good Deed Goes Unpunished Posted at: 06/04/08
When Revere's owner asked us to help medicate and feed her kitty 2X daily, I had no idea how much time it would take for my technician to perform this function. The current recommendation for charging technician time is $124.20/hour(Snyder, Vet Productivity, 4/08). We charged Revere's owner $25.00/day. My techs spent 1-1.25 hours/day treating Revere. I understand she spent $7000.00 at another hospital for services we would have charged $2500.00, so I understand she is upset. I never used the word "excessive". I had the conversation on speaker phone with another staff member witnessing the entire conversation. In 27 years of practice, I have never told anyone to "stop the tube feedings, put out some food and just wait him out" This is a deliberate, malicious falsification of the conversation. As a Consultant in Feline Medicine on the Veterinary Information Network, I have assisted hundreds of other veterinarians in treatment strategies for hepatic lipidosis. Revere's owner was referred to us by one of her veterinarians because of our excellent reputation and expertise. So I guess the saying is true: no good turn deserves to go unpunished.

Great Docs and Amazing Staff!!  5 Star Rating - World class

We were first introduced to Dr. Folger in 1995 when our first cat, Yimkin, started having kidney failure. Dr. Folger gave him the best care possible. We are now owned by five cats and have been going to Memorial Cat Hospital ever since. The staff is amazing, caring and totally dedicated to their work. Our oldest girl, Lucy, has recently been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy. The staff has been very supportive and Lucy is really doing well under their care. Our other kids may protest when they go for their annual visits but we feel very fortunate to have this facility close by, and with two board certified feline specialists we couldn't get better care for our "children" anywhere.

PROS: Dedicated Staff, Board Certified Feline Specialists
CONS: None

First time to review anything online. But I felt it was worth the process. 5 Star Rating - World class

I have been going to Memorial Cat Hospital for 3 years and my cats (total of 4) have been treated with gentleness and compassion during each visit. The staff members are very attentive and truely take the time to get to know each cats personality, the good and the bad. I also board my cats often, they have great condos with sleeping perches, and each time I pick them up I get a daily log on how they did. I would trust all the doctors with my babies. I would however avoid saturday appointments, they tend to be crazy.

Pros: Only Cats, how cool is that. Great boarding, and great staff
Cons: Saturday Appointments

Great services available for ill felines 5 Star Rating - World class

I was very pleased with the care my two Siamese cats received at MCH recently. My regular veterinary clinic was unable to provide my kitties with any long term care solutions, as they both have complicated medical conditions. Dr. Pittari has been instrumental in determining exactly what combination of treatments would bring about the best outcome in each case. I truly appreciate her frank, but caring attitude. I now have hope that there will be some quality of life for both of them. Thanks to all the staff also; they are sincere and helpful.

Pros: Gave honest opinions (no "sugar-coating" here); thorough medical work-ups

I love MCH for the care and compassion that they have given to my cat Tom Tom. He was diagnosed with lymphoma and is now being treated with chemo, thanks to the doctors and staff at MCH. I would recommend this clinic to all my friends and to all cat lovers.

The best place on earth to take your beloved friends 5 Star Rating - World class

When I first stepped into the Memorial Cat Hospital, immediately there was a smiling face waiting to greet me. I was asked many doting questions about my sick cat and the other cats that i own. Being a new client, it was very refreshing. Also, being an animal rescuer for many years and having been to dozens of veterinary practices, I was very pleased with the service and knowledge the Memorial Cat Hospital offered. When I went into the exam room, to my suprise, there were no gloves for handling cats with and the technician who dealt with my cat was gentle and calm. Doctor William Folger was who saw me and my diabetic kitty and that man has to be the best doctor I have ever dealt with. Most doctors, even human ones, tend to give you the run-around and make you feel inadequate, but Dr. Folger told me everything I needed to know and made me feel at ease. My cat had been seen by two other doctors, one of which who was an acclaimed "specialist" with diabetic animals. Neither of these two doctors were able to help my poor kitty and were leaning toward euthanasia. Dr. Folger told me there was no need to put my cat to sleep and within a few months under his care my cat improved drastically and is a happy, healthy kitty. Even though the same things may not apply to your situation with your kitties, I have brought all of my 8 cats to the Memorial cat hospital and have also had to have one put down there. Trust me when I say, this is the one place you can have complete faith in their abilities to give you and your kitty the best experience possible.
