JC Penney Hair Salon
I have been getting my hair cut at Northgate Penney's for nearly 25 years now. That includes about ten years of permanents I would rather forget now (but at the time, they seemed like a good idea!). I switched to them when the Gene Juarez cuts at Nordstrom's just seemed too expensive for my modest needs.
I like the salon because it has an old fashioned, low key, friendly vibe, and the prices are fair (not as cheap as some of the low end "drop in" shops, but I like to be able to set an appointment with a stylist I know).
Stylists are classified and priced according to their experience level. Sheila and Fran are the two I know best, and both do a great job on my short hair (and perms!). Nice, friendly people, too.
The salon also does a good job on scheduling appointments and calling beforehand to remind you--a friendly and helpful little extra. They have manicures and a wide range of beauty products available, as well. Also, they have enough stylists that they can usually fit you in as a drop-in, if you have a hair emergency.
PROS: Cuts that earn compliments, at reasonable prices; convenience
CONS: None
