Take my wife to get a curling iron service, @ Annandale beauty life. The guy (who is the owner) strongly recommend a "magic new technique". Big mistake. Nobody can tell her hair was ironed. Went back trying to get re-ironed a week later. teh guy insisted my wife chose the style,i.e, it is our mistake. By the way, the $50 treatment was extremely simple: spray some liquids, which is completely different from what we experienced before. And the guy will tell you it is a magic treatment liquid, you can not get it anywhere else, therefore,it is that expensive!

I went to the salon to have my hair cut and colored. I discussed with the hair stylist and the manager/owner (Pike Chen) that I wanted to have my hair colored brown over my "natural" black hair. He agreed that he could perform the service in his salon with the exact color I wanted. I stated that I would only pay if the service was performed correctly. Pike agreed, and I understood this to be a verbal contract and guarantee. The stylist that colored my hair was Crystal Lin. After discussion she assured me she could provide both services correctly. After applying the coloration, she left me unattended for approximately 40 minutes. I had a plastic wrap over my head in a warm hair dryer during this time. I could see that the stylist had become involved with another customer. Finally, after many unsuccessful attempts to get the Crystal Lin's attention, the hair assistant removed me from the dryer and washed my hair. I was very upset when I saw the "black? color of my hair. The hair stylist tried to start cutting my hair, telling me the color was fine and "I didn't know" about colors. I refused to let her cut my hair. I requested to see her license as a stylist, but she refused to respond. I then spoke to the manager again stating, as agreed, I would not pay for the service since I was not at all satisfied. As I began to leave, Pike followed me, telling (yelling) me I had to pay. I was totally surprised since we made a verbal agreement at the beginning.

I believe what occurred demonstrates a dishonest practice at this salon, and should be stopped to protect others.

Horrible Horrible Horrible and Horrible.

I went to this place today to get my haircut. I got it cut from Erica, who is a horrible stylist/hair cutter. First, I told her that I wanted it as short as possible on the sides and back. She says okay and takes out the shaver. After she was done, it was still about an inch long on the sides, so I asked her to make it shorter. She turned to the side with a very annoyed look on her face and then rolled her eyes. I guess she did not think I would see, but I did.

Second, I asked for my top to be long in a fohawk type fashion, similar to what many Asian men have.

She did not even listen to me, and kept on shaving my head. Now I have a buzz cut. AWFUL.

I will never go back there again. If I wanted a buzz I would have done it myself, and saved the 20 bucks.

Maybe she had a personal vendetta against me for asking to make my hair shorter on the sides, or maybe she didnt understand. Either way this was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Never go here, or at least get a different stylist.

Waste of time and money.

I don't know where to begin talking about Beautiful Life Salon. I've been there a couple of times and honestly, it was not a satisfying experience. I'm very observant to what's is around me and I think I should point out important things about this salon. First off, Pike the owner. He didn't pay any attention at all when cutting my hair! He jokes around with other of his workers and that seems quite irritating. I thought the person cuttin your hair was suppose to pay attention to! One wrong cut most likely ends up looking worse than a Supercuts hair cut! You should also be very careful of what you ask for when getting a haircut. Be very descriptive so you get exactly what you want. My past haircuts have been not exactly what I pictured when asking for the cut. The time that I have experienced a meltdown was in 2009. I asked for my haircut to be layered like a Carrie Underwood picture that I brought in but it didn't turn out like that at all!!!! (I should probably mention this was a day before my school picture!!) I told Pike who was going to cut my hair to make sure it was exactly like the picture. He was dismissing what I was saying like he knew already what I wanted. He was like, "Yeah, yeah I know." I was quite frustrated that he wasn't paying attention to my description of the cut (I'm very picky when it comes to my haircuts.) But that was just the beginning. When I took my seat in front of the mirror, he began to cut my hair. But instead of giving me layers, he sawed off the ends of my hair in a slanted way!!!!!! So it was thick on the top then on the bottom!!!! It was nothing that I asked for! I didn't think it was going to be like that!!!! I was tempted to cry so much. I used to have such long lushy black hair now that's all gone because of him!!! When he asked if I liked it, instead of crying, I piped up with fake enthusiam and said "Yes!" But deep inside I was like "OMG SERIOUSLY!!! WHERE'S THE LAYERS I ASKED FOR?!?!" But you might think that it's just one problem. But no. When it came to sleeping, I would wake up in the morning with the ends of my hair curving outward!!!!! I'm not even kidding. If you experienced my experience you would cry out your tears out everyday. My ends would literally curve in one direction and the others would be in a different position. I could have tried to fix it with a flatiron, but that would take every single day! That was back in 2009, and now it is growing. Sometimes when I look in the mirror, I just want to fall to the ground and start sobbing my regret of getting this hair cut. Some of you guys who have gotten a haircut at Pike's may be thinking, "It's not that bad of a place." I understand. But when you get a regretting haircut it makes you want to sob so much. I have never made a mistake this big of cutting my hair and now it will be a while till it regains its' shape. Nobody likes to feel regretful and that is what I'm am experiencing unfortunately. Based on my experience, I really want to help any one out there looking for reviews or suggestions or advice on this salon. Take it from my experience, that really making sure the haircut you want is the haircut you get. Here are my suggestions. First- Try Pike's hair salon, and make sure the haircut is what you want. Make sure he or who else is cutting you hair is listening to you and make it seem like your in charge of your own hair. Second- Ask them if the haircut you get requires other tools to make it work, (like a flatiron, curler etc). Honestly, I believe that a haircut that requires tools is not worth it. You want something natural.
Third- If the haircut doesn't turn out the way you want it to be... go home and cry. A good cry really makes you feel better. I cried so much about my hair when I got home, that afterward, I realized that everybody makes mistakes and it will evetually grow back. No doubt about that, I guarantee. And remember that more that one person in the US is likely to experience and bad hair cut, so you're not alone. Anyone who did get a good haircut at Pike's, I guess you got lucky. I'm not trying to say that I hate Pike's hair salon, but I do encourage others to try it and if you end up not liking it like I did, try researching other salons that meet your satisfactions. I've been doing some research and I'm going to try Jouvence Aveda (I think they're good) I really hope others who pick a salon or get a haircut get what they want. Because of course, it's always good to be satisfied then regretful. I hope this review helped you guys!!!

I've been a customer at this salon for the past 10 years. Overall, I've had a decent experience there. However, this past visit has completely changed how I feel about the establishment. The lady who washed my hair was terrible. She splashed more water on my face than on my hair. She was lazy and spent more time talking to the lady next to her than getting the shampoo off my hair. They then had to color my hair three different times because they couldn't get the color to stay. After asking specifically if this color will last a few weeks and being assured there is nothing to worry about, I went home. After just one wash, all the color faded. That's not the worst. The WORST was when I went back the next day to complain, they said there's nothing they could do for me. They refused to fix the color and that they will not refund me the $150 I spent because they already "told" me that color washes out easily.

I am never going back there again. They are such liars. Extremely disappointed.

I had my hair cut at the Beautiful life with their chief designer, Pike. His skill is probably okay, but the service was really bad. He didn't really care while he was cutting my hair. He was talking and joking with other people a lot, and because of that for a few moments he was cutting without looking at me. It's scary. I am not satisfied with the finish style; it's dull and boring. It's definitely an unpleasant experience. Not worth the price. I am not going to make an appointment with him again.

I went here after seeing reviews online and being really disappointed by so many places in Rockville, Bethesda and Potomac. I have short straight asymmetrical hair which needs a lot of patience and a lot of skill but I was a bit nervous as I knew their main clientele is Asian, and I am not!

I made an appointment with Pike Chen, who is their head stylist. I was greeted professionally by the lady at the desk, and taken to have my hair washed straight away. (For those of you who are ALWAYS uncomfortable getting your hair washed you are in for a treat; the chairs are positioned for you to lie down, not sit up and contort your head into the sink, so you lie there really comfortably while your hair is washed.)

Pike was very nice and very open to hearing what it was that I wanted. I had taken a photo of myself from years ago when I actually got the cut I wanted. He asked a lot of questions and checked with me a few times to make sure that I was happy with how the cut was progressing. After the cut he rinsed my hair again to get rid of the excess hair, and then dried and styled my hair with wax, which he recommended to me but did not in any way try a hard sell. (It is a great product and I bought it!)

I am very happy with my cut and will be going back there in the future.

To me the most amazing thing is that this is mega-bang for your buck -- a professional haircut, better than I have received in very up-market, very expensive salons, for $30!!!

Beautiful life salon is so wow! the service is great. and for going there for about 10 years, its really good. i know sometimes that i have to wait, but seeing how much my stylist is trying to get around, i dont mind. sometimes i believe customers need to be a bit open-minded about why they might be waiting so long. Customers need to be kind and just understand that their stylist is trying hard to get everything on schedual. i mean i would understand why people get mad if the stylist is just sitting there and doing nothing but they dont do that. but being an old customer there for a long time i think this place is really nice. the prices are very reasonable and now with their new membership card, i can save even more when i go (even though the prices are already very very reasonable)!! this salon sells and uses very well known products. I know for their perms, they use a japanese solution and has your hair coming out great! I always get my hair permed and my good friend goes there to get her hair straightened and the japanese solution they use gets her hair straight, soft, and shiney! looks beautiful!! the products that they sell are either japanese or korean brand and though the prices may seem high, it works wonders! i know that back in taiwan, a friend of mine owns a salon and they sell the same products! its really great! I think people should try this salon and see what they think of it cause seeing these reviews, i would agree with just about all of them except pathfinder. the thing is, shes right about the weddings but wrong about everything else, honestly, she doesnt know what shes talking about.

First of all for those people that wrote ur opinons about this salon are wrong.
This place is sooo wonderful! Ive been going there when they were still in the old place and they always do the best job! I love it so much my family and friends all go there and not one complained.
Of all the brides that has went there, they turn out so beautiful~ so i suggest people to get your weddings done at beautiful life salon!
The owner is amazing and so is his wife. He does my hair and my friend's hairs all the time and he has us coming out of there looking great. His wife is pretty good too, shes funny and gets your hair looking fantastic! I think all the stylists there are pretty good, it's just that people have to find the right one that matches their tastes. The receptionist is very welcoming and polite whenever i go and the prices are so cheap! i know at other nice salons, a haircut can be about $100 or up! imagine what a perm could be? But at beautiful life salon, a haircut is only $30 for women! And let me tell you, it includes everything from the shampoo to cut to blow-dry! I think this salon is very reasonable with its quality and price. For a nice salon to charge so less is a pretty great deal to me!

I also have a mixed review of Beautiful Life Salon. I was a bridesmaid two years ago and went there to get my hair done for the wedding. They were great in scheduling me on a busy Saturday morning and the price was only $40 at the time. The stylist did an absolutely beautiful job. I loved my updo! BUT, and this is a big but -- when I went back to just get my bangs trimmed, it was a disaster. A different lady than the one who styled my hair for the wedding cut the bangs. I brought in a picture just to be sure I got what I wanted. A quick snip, snip later, I was about to cry. The bangs were too short and it looked like jagged zig zags. I wanted a soft, wispy cut to the side AND I HAD A PICTURE! I tried to be nice and say it wasn't what I showed her and she had the nerve to tell me AFTER she cut my hair that Asian hair couldn't be cut that way. But that was the way it was cut before! As a stylist, she shouldn't have just done whatever she wanted to with my hair and if she didn't think she could my hair in a certain way, she should have told me. And she also asked if I wanted to leave a tip as I paid at the register.
