Starplex Cinemas Bakersfield Movies 6

A smile at the front where my ticket was purchased would have been nice i thought as i strolled in the front door, just to be stopped and confined in a ten by six foot area with everyone else. like a quarantine from the movie goers who had already been cleared. once what seemed to be some high school kid had finished talking to her sweetheart in a corner on a cellphone, she slowly meandered to the crushed and stained velvet rope holding us captive. i smiled and handed my ticket to her to receive a look in return as if i was covered in liquid waste.once i was no longer delayed at gate 01, i made for the distantly delightful, but closely unattractive snack area. i purchased a soda from a polite male attendant and hurried away to get to my movie. NOW. . because of the trouble the patrons at the movie i attended caused me, i will not now, nor possibly ever go again. the establishment gets a 2 out of 5 for simply being open in the condition that its in. but it lacks in every aspect, ESPECIALLY THE FACILITIES, i have seen better on lower budget than this. it comes down to owner pride and attention, and frankly i feel this place runs on auto-pilot.

this damm place was horrible and wont ever suggest anyone go there and i am not cheap just wanted to go and see for myself.I will never take my three kids or a roach to this place.how the people gonna be rude when they work at a place like that.

I read the reviews. Some complained about sticky floors. Isn't that what you remember as a kid before all the fancy theaters came out? We got $1 to go to the movies (100 years ago obviously). 50 cents went to the ticket and 50 cents for snacks (and you could get 2 snacks for that amount). The floors were always sticky back then so sticky floors just bring back memories of childhood days with nearly a childhood price. I never got to the movies because I don't have the money for the fancy theaters and too many kids makes going out for the evening way too expensive. Thank you Starplex for trying to cater to those of us who aren't quite so fortunate as the ones that can afford Edwards and the like.

Ya'll are such ungrateful people.Be happy you can go to the movies and afford it.If you don't like the theater or the staff then you don't need to come here.DUH.Get a life people and stop complaining and trying to ruin it for other people.

You pay $2 to 50cents for a movie and you're expecting Edwards theatre? Get real. This place isn't all that great but when you need to save money (like now!) and just want a quick movie and a little fun, this place isn't bad at all. I don't use public restrooms so I don't care and I still won't pay $10 for a candy bar. I'll go across the street to See's candy beforehand thank you very much. But really, the staff isn't rude, they're just sick of dealing with whiny customers I'm sure.

What is wrong with the people who wrote in complaining about a movie for a buck-50. I dont expect anything to have modern day carpet, clean bathrooms or friendly staff. Like all other people I need to stretch a dime for a family of 6, and this place works. Dont judge a place when your trying to be cheap. Just be happy you had somewhere to take your family. I would be willing to bet that you did go to the manager and complain, you just hid behind your key board and took a shot in the dark.

this place is a cheap 1.50 movie theatre with movies that have been out awhile, but the bathrooms were disgusting, feces all around 4 of the stalls. The food area very dirty and the staff were rude.

Although I completely agree with the above statement, I have to say besides a stinky and sticky theater, they have managed to increase prices...

Before 6PM $1.50
After 6PM $2.00
Tuesdays, $1.00

Still way cheaper than the real movie theater... but wow, talk about 100% increase in prices!

This is a great place to take the entire family to the movies if you are looking for a bargain. They have inexpensive second run movies here. Regular admission is only a dollar and Tuesdays are just fifty-cents! This is the place for budget-minded movie goers. Cleanliness is somewhat lacking (we know a family that has nicknamed this theater "the sticky theater"). Located by Circuit City and across the street from the Mariott Residence Inn.
