Lytle Rieffer, a master of guitar.
by Josh J.
With all due respect to the others who have shared their opinions, I beg to differ from their perhaps, hidebound, reviews posted below aimed at dismantling and destroying the excellent reputation held by one, Mr. Lytle Rieffer. It has been without a doubt, a great honor and an amazing trip so far studying under this maestro of music. With over 30 years of music, Mr. Rieffer is a true genius, a true person, a true spirit, and most of all, a true friend. Right off the bat, Lytle may appear to be questionable in one way or another, but fear not fellow seekers of a musical library of knowledge, this is no one trick pony. The main goal of Lytle's teachings are none other, (wait for it), your goals! That's right, you heard me, YOUR GOALS. How many times have you signed up for lessons of any sort and had to learn what was set out for you? How long have you felt oppressed and tied town to techniques that although may have been useful otherwise, did absolutely nothing for what you saw in your mind as, "your music." This is the furthest thing from Lytle's eleemosynary efforts in his work to make and shape you into the guitar player you've always aspired to be. With a substantial wealth of knowledge and experience, Mr. Rieffer is not by any means a dull, collegiate, out of date and out of style professor. Perhaps a better way to describe Lytle and in a fashion that he would approve of is, (and no offense to anyone, it's just Lytle's ribald raillery) "An old black man who's gotten out the ghetto through the power of music and who's mission is to teach young black men to escape the ghetto through the power of music." And it is by this unique mission statement that Lytle stands behind his alumni all the way and establishes their soil in the garden of music. Thus, who could deny that one such as Lytle Rieffer, a man of masterful talents and vast knowledge, is nonetheless, a true master at what it is that makes him tick. One might go as far as to proclaim that there is none better than Mr. Rieffer, but that would be a slander against all other voices that yearn to be heard and would be deemed, unreasonable. So, I would like to leave by stating that it has been my pleasure and great honor to study under the bellwether that is, Lytle Rieffer, and would further more like to point out that the atrocities claimed below cannot be passed on under false pretenses, but rather as valid experiences. With that being said, I wish you all the best in your inquisition for a teacher of guitar and would highly advise Mr. Lytle Rieffer, a man of music. Thank you for your time fellow musicians and take care.

Teacher With No Respect
by Susie S.
Lytle is a good teacher and guitarist, but his lack of respect to SOME of his students out weigh his good teaching skills.
During lesson time he would just make the most disrespectful remarks to me that were truthfully unappropriate for a guitar teacher!
BUYER BEWARE as he WILL try to sell you a second hand guitar for $25.00 less than what one could expect to buy brand NEW from a local Guitar Shop.
Please do yourself a favor and DON'T BUY anything from him as he is only out to make MORE MONEY off of his students and it doesn't matter at what lengths he goes to to make a sale! Don't trust him!
Thank goodness I came to my senses and finally made the decision to QUIT Lytle!! I have SAVED money and taught myself more then what he could teach me and not to mention all the run around I used to get from him with his FALSE promises!

Great guitarist
by Joe A.
Excellent guitarist, with strong teaching skills. I strongly reccomend Lytle. However its very important that you seek knowledge outside of what Lytle can teach you.
The downside to lessons with Lylte is that he likes to use slick tactics to sell you a guitar.

a life changing guitar teacher
by pat l.
In our case it has been life changing in a positive way for our family. Our son started lessons with Mr Rieffer at age 13,now 18 he plays lead guitar and vocals in his blues/rock band that is been very successful in Arizona. His love of playing and a determined work ethic in large part due to Mr Rieffers influence. With his focus on fundamentals, pride in musicianship and hard work and having the balance and freedom to play"your music",explore new disciplines and new styles results in challenging yourself and growing. We feel very fortunate to of found Mr Rieffer because he reinforces and emphasizes the responsibility that comes along with musical talent. To be humble but confident, that being a good person comes first and that hard work will get you to your goal. All quality's that have led to the 3 members of my sons power trio (all students of Mr Rieffer) being good students, hard workers, drug and alcohol free very respectful and talented young men.

Teaching in a relaxed atmosphere
by Erik R.
I took lessons from Lytle for about 8 years. He's great with children and teaches a very efficient technique. I recommend Lytle to people who would like to get started with the guitar or people who are frustrated with the instrument. If you have a clear idea of what you want to do your playing, let him know he'll help you get there.

Lytle is an amazing guitar instructor. He teaches you the style of music you want to learn so you stay interested. He can improve your performance in less than half the time of other guiter teachers I've used. He has over 30 years' experience and is a wonderful, friendly person on top of that. He teaches guiter, bass & banjo. If you're looking for a guitar instructor, you will find no one better.
