As a childcare provider for my grandson at home I found that the system considers anyone living in the same home and sitting for a child as a "built-in babysitter and is unable to be paid. This is a joke on anyone who can do outside work or wants to get paid like other childcare providers. I feel that the state and the system itself is very antiquated and stupid in thinking that because someone is at home they are available to do free work that someone else gets paid for. The work and the time are the same and the quality of sitting may even be better at home. I have been doing this since Feb. of 2008 and I was not supposed to even do this, as I had just had back surgery and my daughter had no sitter to return to work. I think this stinks and really needs to be addressed. I get Social Security disability, and the extra money would have helped me greatly. But I am no built-in anything and I resent that I have basically been labeled as such.

If you are a working mother and you need help paying for child care these are the people to see. They will pay your entire daycare expense minus a weekly co-pay which ranges from $0 to $40 depending on your income. I feel like this program is a gift from God. There are so many working mothers who probably feel like they are working just to pay daycare expenses. Well, help is here. This program is sponsored by the YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh. I suggest you call them today!

PROS: They provide money for your daycare expenses.
CONS: You do have to pay a co-pay depending on your income.
