The wines featured in Rosenthal - The Malibu Estate Tasting Room are from grapes grown in Malibu, a scenic valley four miles from the coast, 1,400-feet up, above the coastal fog, in the AVA Malibu Newton Canyon. We invite you to visit our Rosenthal - The Malibu Estate Tasting Room and Gift Shop, which is open to the public. We hope to set up some vineyard tours from there. In addition to wine sampling, the Tasting Room also carries clothing and wine accessories. Hours: Wednesday through Monday, 11:00 am to :00 pm.
Rosenthal Winery Tasting Room- beware the scam
by Josh P.
This place is a scam. Beware. I visited the tasting room as I have always been a fan of Rosenthal wines. The menu is deceptive- we chose the 4 tastings option which had a rpice noted of $12 for two reds and two whites, or for an additional $3 you could have 4 reds. We opted for the 4 reds- figuring the proce was $15. We reveiced 4 glasses with roughly a half ounce to an ounce of wine in each. When we finished and I went to pay, I assumed the price would be $15, so I gave the attendant a $20 bill and thought that would suffice- $15 for the tasting and a $5 tip. I was floored when the woman told me it was $15 per glass!! I could not believe it...I asked how that could be- I could have purchased three bottles of wine in the shop for what she was charging me for 4 sips of wine. As a consequence, I will never return to this establishment, and will not be buying anymore of their wine and will be sure to share this experience will everyone I know who is fond of wine and wine tasting experiences...this one is deplorable and a scam. Nowhere on the menu does it state the cost is per taste and no one could possibly infer such from the menu or from the explanation of how their tasting choices are priced. It is only when you go to pay that you realize you have been scammed.

Tasting Room
by loretta k.
We have so few tasting rooms in LA county, why not enjoy sipping a glass of wine and looking at the ocean at the same time! Also the wine is so good. We need to thank the Rosenthal Winery for giving us this wonderful place.

If you find yourself wondering what to do this weekend I would suggest a trip to Rosenthal. I was first introduced to their wines in the UCLA Vintage program. But at that time they were not open to the public. Early in 2006 they opened this tasting room. I was so excited I dragged my poor husband and promptly joined the wine club! :-)Just north of the Pepperdine campus on the right side of PCH in Malibu, the tasting room is very small but if you like big reds any wait you might have will be well worth it. The Rosenthal estate where the grapes are grown is in Malibu Canyon a short distance from this tasting room. I would also recommend their wines as interesting and affordable gift ideas if you are looking for some predictably good wines this holiday season!
PROS: Wonderful Wines
CONS: Can be hard to find. Look for the sandwhich board that says Wine Tasting
