Stealing Staff  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Careful, the staff here steals. I started out as a fan of this place, even if the doorman can be a little too self-important, the drinks are pricey, and the bottle service gives me nightmares of all the cocky junior analysts from Wall Street buying their way into the trendy spots in New York's Meatpacking District. My most recent experience - having my leather jacket stolen from the coat check - has really soured me on Slide though.

About a month ago, I inadvertently left my jacket in the coat check after leaving in a hurry at the end of a good night. The next morning I spoke to a very pleasant, courteous and professional young woman, Sarah. She confirmed my jacket was, in fact, still there, and that as a policy Slide would hold onto it for up to 30 days for me to pick up at my first opportunity. On my first try, it was too early in the evening and no one was there. The next time I stopped by, Sarah had taken some time off and the person I spoke with could not find my jacket. She saw a record that it had been there and no record it had been donated to charity or picked up, and she recommended I call back once Sarah had returned to see if she knew what had become of it. She didn't. After looking into it, the best she could offer me was that there were over 70 people on staff, she had been gone for two weeks, and she gave me a fax number to claim reimbursement.

The fax number I was given was for Ruby Sky next door. Apparently they are connected through ownership. I faxed everything as instructed and received no response. I called to follow up and received no response. Sarah has been a pleasure to deal with but the rest of Slide is questionable. No one from management seems concerned that someone in their staff is stealing customer property. I'm sure that with what they make ripping people off on drinks, they could afford to pay for my jacket.

I have usually enjoyed the music and there's almost always a good looking crowd, but if you're going to Slide, stick to the warm nights when you don't need a jacket. This place just can't be trusted to do the right thing.

you GOTTA read this!  2 Star Rating - Wouldn't recommend

We decided to celebrate my 26th and my cousins 25th birthday last night (a Saturday) @ slide. The music was nice (Zhaldee), but I am upset at how the night started. I would like to understand the slide's reasoning for only letting a one girl for every guy ratio. My brother had to wait outside alone while everyone else was inside. Please tell me if I am wrong, but aren't guys the ones who spend the money to buy the drinks? I had seen several males get in who are not accompanied by a female. I never have experienced anything like this before and I have gone to many many club in the city. Another thing the bouncer, told us that the other people in our party had to wait in line, but when I looked outside all I can see is a crowd of people gathered at the door. My cousin's boyfriend had a table last night and the person who made the arrangements should have let him know that there was a boy-girl ratio. He paid $700 for one table. We had several people who didn't even bother and just went to another place. So if you are still willing to go there, be prepared to wait for more than an hour and bring the same amount of girls as boys. I am in my late twenties and brought my sis and cousin who are 21. This crowd is NOT for the 21 year olds. There was a table of people next to us and all of them had gray hair. And the music was geared towards the older crowd, my cousin and sis didn't even know some of the songs being played.

Weeee  4 Star Rating - Very good

After stepping out of Swig for a much needed breather, my friends and I headed to Slide down the street.

FYI Guys: If you are trying to go here with your boys, you better A) be on a guest list or B) meet a group of girls in line, and ask that you can join their group. I actually thought the door guy was pretty nice, and just doing his job of enforcing their 1:1 like no other place I have ever been to. I witnessed multiple groups of guys, get turned away because they didn't have any or enough girls in their group. Girls this is good for us in a way....standing outside waiting for our guys, other guys would come up willing to buy drinks all night so we would go in with them. If we wouldn't have been waiting for our guys, it would have been an offer gladly taken.

Anyway I like this club a lot! It's a good size and they were playing good music. It's really nice inside and although it was packed, it was big enough that you could move around to a different area for some space. I definitely would come back here!! A new SF favorite.

And no, I did not slide down the slide, not only was I wearing a dress but I don't think there is anything cute about coming down a slide into a crowd of people.

Great new club to try out  4 Star Rating - Very good

Here's the scoop on Slide, the newest addition to SF's club scene.

The set-ups reminds me of Marquee or Cain in NYC, with large U-shaped booths set up for bottle service. There is a huge bar in the middle with lots of mingling room for those who aren't into the table thing (which in SF is prob the majority)

The decor is swanky 1920's Prohibition era... down to ever detail. Apparently it used to be speak-easy which inspired the theme. My favorite touches were the in-character flapper girls who roamed around all night (accents and all) and the crystals in the ladies bathroom. I heard that even the sprinklers where hand-dipped in bronze to match the decor. Now that's dedication!

There is also an actual slide you take to get down to the bar (to go along with the prohibition theme). It was pretty entertaining just to watch people's faces as they came down. Its hard not to feel like a 6 year old

As for the scene, I think its too early to tell. Most people were looking to have a good time and meet new people which was refreshing. It was a slow start, but by 1AM the whole place was dancing. We left at 2, but i think they stayed open until 3, which in SF is huge!

The music evolved throughout the evening, from swanky lounge to hip hop dance later in the night which I loved

The drinks were pretty expensive, but I guess that's to be expected

Overall, I really liked it and had a good time, and will def go back. I just hope they have more cute boys next time!
