I had looked up best places for brazillian waxes in Chicago online, and I found some reviews about Salon Envy, so I decided I would give them a try, I had been to top salons and each time it was painful and extremely expensive, but when I went to Salon Envy and met Taylor, I had the best time, it was not awkward, she did NOT hurt, it was quick and painless, and I do not have a high pain threshold. She is awesome, so go see her!!! I have been seeing her for over a year now and will not go to anyone else, I even waited for her to get off maternity leave before I went back in.

I have been going to Salon Envy for about 3 years now. I have received numberous compliments on my hair, and I always leave there looking GREAT! I recently went to Nataliya for a facial as well, and was extremely happy with it. Give this salon a try, you won't be disappointed!

The staff is really nice and professional. I got the color and cut I requested exactly, which is apparently hard to do. I recommend Salon Envy.

I used to work right near here and on a whim got an appointment here. Caitlin is amazing with my super dry naturally curly hair! From the very beginning she has given me stylish, effortless hair that can be worn straight or curly, and was the first stylist I have ever had who could style my hair curly on her first encounter with it.

Professional, clean, and friendly staff and space. I am a devotee even though I no longer live or work around there.

I have been following the owner for years. She is a perfectionist herself and hires amazing people. All of the staff are friendly and attentive. Susan gets the best products and lines. And someone is always cleaning... You wont be disappointed.

I went to Salon Envy on a recommenation of a friend after going to 3 places to get my highlights done..and not being happy with the results. I walked in and was greeting friendly. I thought the salon was cozy feeling and cute. I didn't really care, as long as I liked my hair. I had been referred to Justyna, and I have to say I LOVE my hair for the first time in a LONG time! She listened to what I asked for, and helped make it happen. I will definately recommend her to friends, and I will be going back. I hope this is helpful to others looking for a salon with good stylists.

I recently moved from NYC and have been going to Dee for several months now. I am a fanatic about my hair and every time I go to get my color done I'm totally impressed. Dee is highly educated and extremely talented. They need more stylists like this in Chicago! The girls who work at the salon are professional and make you feel special the second you walk through the door! I would highly recommend Dee and Salon Envy if you're looking for fabulous hair and a great experience!

I went to this Salon after careful research on Citysearch. I had already been to 3 different salons to achieve what I thought was an normal blonde hair color. I brought a picture, and my stylist was the owner Susan. I had emailed her before about my hair color, it was bright yellow and if she thought she it could be fixed. She responded with yes, so I went in. I LOVE the color now, after 3 other salon visits elsewhere. I can't say enough about how nice everyone was there, but I love my hair the most! It looks HOT! The prices are not cheap, but worth it in my opinion.

I have never had a worse salon experience than the one I recently had at Salon Envy. The coupon on the website is NOT worth it. They obviously are trying to help their newest/least experienced/worst stylists get some business because they can't keep clients. Dee was rude, unprofessional, manipulative, and did a half-ass job. It took over 3 hours for an all-over color and very simple trim... it has never taken any other stylist I've been to any longer than an hour and a half for these services. I wasn't offered a magazine or anything while I waited and Dee showed no sign of concern over this. Salons like these are a luxury and with the ridiculous prices they charge, their employees should be bending over backwards to please you, make you comfortable, and get you to come back for more. I will definitely not be back for more. Not only was my experience with this particular stylist AWFUL, but I was shocked at the unprofessionalism of every other employee there... I have never been to a salon where jeans, t-shirts, flip-flops, and ponytails are acceptable for the stylists to wear... if they can't make themselves look good, how could I possibly think they would make me look good? Bottom line - if someone takes the time to write a nasty review, you know the place is bad.... the other reviews on this site are deceiving... I wouldn't even recommend this place to my worst enemy.

After careful research on which salon to go to, this one kept popping up so I decided to give it a try. Wow was I impressed. Not only are the girls wonderful stlyists but they have parking and awesome products as well. I would trust anyone to do my hair there. I am so happy I found this place :)

I went to Salon Envy after a friend recommended it, and am VERY HAPPY! I love my new highlights, I tried someone after going to the same salon for 7 years. I was bored with my hair, and I needed a change. My stylist listened to my needs and helped me deceide what I wanted...not an easy task! I am recommending this salon after reading some of the mixed reviews. I'm here to say LOVE IT! I'll be back!

I went to see a girl named Dee and she knew exactly what I wanted!! She was very honest about my hair which, I definitely needed, and it looks great. The staff is very nice as well. There is a free yes thats right free parking lot!!! :) I felt very comfortable when I was there, I left looking and feeling fabulous! They have lots of great deals at this salon. I would highly recommend anyone to go there. The girls are very educated and it's totally affordable. They also have wonderful retail!! I will be returning soon

I went in to get my haircut and really like the person that cuts it. I figure I'd try getting it colored and highlighted there. Couldn't get in with my cut person so I tried another one, highly disappointed. Asked for very natural suttle highlights, walked out with chunks of highlights which are far from blended. Hair seems dried as well from the over processing. Asked Management if I could have someone else correct it, the response was "she recommends I go back to the original person, what would I like to do", this was a return call from the front desk as the owner was too busy to make a five minute return call...unfortunately since I do not trust the person who processed me the first time I'm not taking the risk of further damage so I will be spending another $100 to get it fixed after already spending $160 to get it done. Agree with the other reviewed, was quoted less on the phone.

To me the response is ridiculous, no customer service. Buyer beware....

Unbelievable. I've been to numerous hair salons in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, and this salon sneakily charged me the most EVER. I called beforehand to check their prices, which I found to be standard ($50 - haircut, $95 for full highlight). So to no surprise my jaw dropped when they told me my cut, and partial highlights came out to be $260.00! WTF? I am still mad at myself for paying without saying anything. However they justified it, I still think it's crazy. The stylists trick you by saying they will "take care of you" by adding a protein treatment or intense conditioner, but they never say you will end up paying more than $150 extra than you expected to.

Ladies, we cannot let these salons do this to us anymore! They will charge whatever they think they can get away with if we don't say anything. I made a promise to myself to never again let this happen to me. DO NOT trust Salon Envy - they WILL rip you off.

I recently went to Salon Envy for Hair Extensions. I have to say Lucy Portillo is the girl to go to if you want to enhance the length of your hair. For years I have wanted extensions and was terrified that something bad would happen. But in this case, Lucy is super talented and honest about the whole process that made me feel really comfortable. She was very clear and precise on what to expect and how to care for your purchase. I would recommend Lucy to anyone who is one bit apprehensive about getting extensions. In my opinion, Lucy is progressive and honest ,and will not guide you down the wrong path when it comes to your hair. All in all, it was a delightful experience and I'm glad I found her.

I have been going to this salon for about a year now and have to say LOVE IT! I came across the salon from going to Panera in their mall. I stopped in and thought it was cute, clean and the receptionist was very nice. I have been extremely pleased with my hair ever since. I have curly and frizzy hair naturally..blessed huh? I leave there feeling like a movie star. My hair is shiny and not frizzy...I think the Kerastase does help a little. I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone.

My guess is that most of the positive reviews here are from their own staff or management, not from actual customers. I have been here twice because it's so close to my house and had bad experiences both times from the the chair to the front desk and overall staff. I tried it a second time because it's right next to my home. In the end I'm just cabbing it to find someplace else, it's worth the $5 overhead not to be treated like this and have shotty work.

If you choose to go here I'd recommend taking a look around before committing to getting cut / styled. The hairdressers and the work you see come out the door is a good reflection of the type of work they do here. They take little pride and have little respect for you the customer.

I highlighted these complaints to management without any resolve.

I was surprised to see the high rating of this place. I only go there to buy products because I like what they sell. I don't go there for my haircut because i have seen the work they have done. But every time after I bought products from them and put up with their poor service and attitude, I always told myself that would be the last time.

Its hard to find and trust someone to cut and style your hair, after moving to Chicago it took me a year to find Lucy and I'm so glad I did! When Lucy moved to Salon Envy I was impressed with the space and the great people at the salon. I highly recommend Lucy for haircuts and from what I've seen the other stylists do in that salon, they are all quite good!

I've had alot of bad luck with hair stylists in the past couple of years, so I decided to try Salon Envy based on all of the great reviews. I chose to go to Lisa based on her bio on their website. After a thorugh consultation, she got to it and did an excellent job on my cut. She took her time to make sure everything was precise and even, and it looks great. The salon itself was comfortable and everyone was very nice. I highly recommend Lisa at Salon Envy!

When I moved to Chicago for college I scoured the city for a great stylist. For almost a year I still had not found a stylist that made me want to go back for another cut. Finally, I was recommended to go see Susan, who at the time was working at Restoration Salon. She was incredible! I followed her when she opened up Salon Envy and have never been disappointed. When Susan went on Maternity leave I started seeing Lucy. She has a very cute but edgy style. I always feel very comfortable with her and she is always accommodating. Dana is also great if you're interested in extensions. Overall, the salon has a very relaxed and welcoming vibe. I have been out of school for over a year and I'm convinced I will not change salons while I'm still in Chicago.

This place is incredible. Lucy ROCKS! She gives the most kickass haircuts ive ever had in my life. That isn't just my opinion, but also the opinion of trusted friends who give my hair thumbs up. When I moved to Chicago from Minneapolis I was worried I wouldn't find a stylist who suits my finicky taste. I never imagined i'd find better. But I did.

I am a PhD student by day and a musician by night. Lucy understands the fine line I have to walk with my hair--not too conservative, not too informal, just enough edge. I typically decide I need a haircut on a whim and then obsess until I get an appointment. I never have to wait too long for Lucy. She is incredibly accomodating to my busy schedule and she'll try to get me in same-day if she can make it work. Lucy never tries to push product on me or push me into a style i'm uncomfortable with. She is personable, genuine, funny, and incredibly attractive. I feel comfortable asking her questions about my hair that guys are sometimes afraid to ask. When I leave Salon Envy I feel great and confident about my look.

Although I always schedule my cuts with Lucy, the other stylists are friendly and talented as well. Of course a haircut is the central concern, but I really appreciate the complete experience here. You will not regret scheduling an appointment with Salon Envy!

I was looking to get extensions like the stars get such as Jessica Simpson and Eva Longoria. I ended up going to Lucy at Salon Envy to get my "Great Lengths." She immediately made me feel at ease and we had a long and thorough consulation looking at colors and pictures so she knew exactly what I wanted. We ordered the hair and she told me it was going to be a long process getting them in (about 6 hrs) because I have A LOT of hair. She was making me laugh and good company for those six hours so time flew by and before I knew it I had a full head of long luxurious hair that not only LOOKED but FELT real. I love how she took the time after to cut and personalize my extensions to make them look all the more real. I also love how the extensions have a natural beachy wave so I can wear it au naturel and get a cute wavy look easily. The best part is they will last about 6 months before I need touch-ups and my hair will continue to grow with them in and I can continue to color my roots in between. I highly recommend Lucy if you are looking for professional extensions. She is down to earth, easy to talk to, and super cute! I am definately not letting anyone else get their hands on my hair after my experience with Lucy at Salon Envy!

I went to Salon Envy on a recommendation from the hotel concierge, while I recently was in Chicago visiting. I had my hair cut and colored and let my stylist do what they wanted. I have never LOVED my hair more! I just read another review, and can't believe it..I had a great experience, I won't soon forget. The salon was very cute and comfortable. I had the best experience at Salon Envy! I have been searching for a new salon and colorist/stylist since my recent move to Chicago, and FINALLY found it! Salon Envy is hip and trendy while at the same time charming and inviting. I love the clean and stylish decorating in the salon and Susan was awesome. My hair looks better than it has in years. She did exactly what I wanted and I love my hair! I recommend this salon to my friends all the time and haven't heard a complaint yet! I will definately be back.

When I moved to Chicago a year ago I was devastated to leave my stylist in St. Louis but I am no longer even phased, in fact, when I go home to St. Louis, I miss Lucy! Her professional talent and experience fused with her fresh and trendy personal style have committed my hair to her for life!! The amenities of Salon Envy (and Maria ;) ) only enhance the experience. My hair cuts are always fabulous, my color is flawless and I know Lucy takes the time to make sure it is exactly what I'm looking for. I look forward to my haircuts (and probably schedule too many!) and her spunky personality. If you don't go to Lucy your CRAZY and your depriving your poor hair of a great haircut and color! Dave rocks coloring and he rocks with the scissors! I have been going to him for a short time--about 4 months--but I have to get my hair colored every 5 weeks (bad genes..thanks Mom!) In that short period of time he has done amazing things with my color. I just got my hair cut and colored last week and I can't tell you how many compliments I have gotten in just a week. I really want to keep Dave a secret, but I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut!

Everyone there is very friendly and there is just a nice vibe to this place. They have great products, great parking, great magazines, and always a sweet treat!

I've been going to Sarah for cuts and highlights for nearly 3 years now. I receive alot of compliments on my hair and definately owe it all to her. I usually don't have a clear idea of what I want to do but she gives great direction and advice for what works best with my hair type. I've gone from dark to light, long to short with her and she does an amazing job every time! I always look forward to getting my hair done; not only is she talented but she's a great person to sit and chat with. I highly reccomend this salon!!!

OMG!! I don't even know where to begin. I followed Dave from his last salon because he is that amazing. I get my cuts and highlights done by him. I've gone short, brunette, long, blonde. You name it, he does it....and very well I might add. I have referred over a dozen friends and family members to him. Every single person I have sent to him has loved the work that he has done and they have all gone back at least once. Most go back to him on a regular basis. I have heard nothing but great things. I believe that he is one of the best in Chicago. At least try him out. See for yourself. He is fun and energetic and easy to talk to. Can we talk about his shampoos? Wow, they are incredible. He told me he doesn't do daily house calls....darn! I want to also mention that the rest of the salon is super as well. Waxing is great and messages. They have awesome jewelry, hair products and Glo-mineral makeup. They call you and remind you about appointments. They offer you beverages, cookies, great reading material, whatever you want to ensure the best possible experience. They do a wonderful job and I will be recommending Dave and the salon for a long time. Thank you for giving me and my friends the best experience EVER!

I have been going to Lucy for almost 2 years now. She previously worked at a different salon (not to be named) and I followed her to Salon Envy. Her former salon was snobby and rude, but I kept going and endured the higher prices to stay with Lucy. Now that she's at Salon Envy, I get the best of all worlds - a friendly, upbeat salon with Lucy - the best stylist & colorist in Chicago! I've recommended 4 friends to her, that are now regulars.

I recently came to Sara as a reccomendation from a friend to fix a botched highlight job. She took the time to explain exactly what needed to be done to achieve my desired results and showed me several pictures of looks that she thought would be good for me. My color turned out absolutely perfect and I left with a brand new haircut that she reccomended. Not only is the cut fresh and new, but it's been so easy for me to style. I will definitly be back.

I was a client of Caitin's for about a year. She was generally good with color but her cuts are average at best. When she totally, messed up my color, despite specific directions, she couldn't be bothered to get me in to fix it and and on top of that was extremely condescending. Additionally, her 3 years of experience do not warrant the prices!

Let me just say both the salon and staff deserve a ten star rating. I have been to several "upscale" salons and I have always left feeling like my hair color or cut was not worth the outrageous price. I was referred to Dave at Salon Envy by a coworker who insisted I must give him a try. I arrived for my haircut a few minutes early and to my surprise Dave was ready to take me even though he had just a few foils to put in on another client. I changed into a robe while he wrapped up. I was offered a beverage by not one but three employees. I was especially thrilled about a glass of white wine. Traffic was bumper to bumper on the majority of Clybourn so I was thrilled to indulge. Despite forgetting my pictures, Dave took time to walk me through what I was wanting and expecting with my hair. Let's talk about the head massage he gave me. I felt like those women in the Herbal Essence ads. Best shampoo of my life. We opted for a healthy trim, long bangs and long layers. I really like how most of the stylist here cut wet and dry hair. There is such a difference when the hair is "refined" (as Dave put it.) I instantly fell in love with the Shu Umura (sp) products. When we finished I was walked to the front and asked if I had any remaining questions. I completed my transaction and was on my way. Upon returning to work, several coworkers complemented me on my new cut but what was most surprising was getting asked where I got my hair done while at Macy's! Thanks Dave and the staff at Salon Envy. You sure have won me over. Can't wait to go back.

I'm new to Chicago, i'm from South Carolina, and I know nothing about hair in Chicago. Going off the reviews provided by citysearch I took a chance and went to Salon Envy. Horrible service altogether!!!!!!!! I'm 10 minutes early to my appointment, but have to wait one hour before I'm helped!!!! They shampoo and conditioned my hair (someone other then my stylist) then had me wait another 20 minutes before Tracy actually even saw me. I went to get a cut and highlights. I have dark hair and it's hard to color my hair, but it can be done!!!! All my life I've never had a problem coloring my hair because it was too dark. I asked Tracy to use color to lighten my hair, causes less damage to hair then bleach. However, she completely ignored my request and used bleach. Not only did she use bleach without my permission, she lighten the hair so much that without toner my hair is the color of big bird. My hair is so dry and frizzy after the bleach. I had perfect healthy hair, until my hair met Tracy. Going on to the cut, the cut was so choppy! I had pieces missing that should have not been cut. I had to go to a hair dresser the next day to get my cut fixed! I didnt trust anyone at salon envy to fix my hair so i went to Ulta. The lady at Ulta was amazed that another person thought they did a good job! I do not recommend going to this place. They are a relatively new salon, I am a perfect example, do not just go off reviews for a salon. Make sure they are reputable. I hope my review helps!

I was in the salon and saw a girl getting extensions by Dana. She was really rushing and th girl asked about the placement and Dana just ignored her. Then when the girl left I heard her talking to a co worker about how much money she was making off the girl and that she knew she did a bad job and didn't care. ~Worst service ever-I feel bad for who ever goes to her! Why are the ratings for this salon so good? I wasn't really happy with my stylist either. Not recommended unless you want to get your money stolen and then spend more fixing their disasters.

Dana has been cutting my hair for years and I even moved salons with her. Over the summer I decided to chop my LONG hair and immediately regretted it. So Dana suggested extensions and I decided to go ahead and try them. Although it was a little expensive and it takes an awful long time, I was extremely happy with the outcome. Dana took the time to explain everything i needed to know about the process, how to keep them up, and how to take care of them. I will definitely be going back to her to have them touched up and would do it all over again. I have even recommended her to my friends and they are always happy with everything she does whether it be extensions, a trim, or color.

I recently went to Salon Envy to get extensions done by Dana. The salon has a great vibe, good atmosphere plus parking was a bonus!! I had a GREAT EXPERIENCE with my extensions. I was recommended to go to Dana after a few friends had gone to her and were extremely happy with her job. One of which had extensions done. When I arrived for my consultation, Dana greeted me and started explaining the process, what she would do and how as well as how long ( on average) the extensions stay in for. All of my questions were answered and I felt very confident about getting the extensions. Dana is very friendly and honest person who seemed to be well experienced so I trusted her completely. She thoroughly explained how to care for the extensions and what would happen if I didn't. I was thrilled after I got my extensions!! I got so many compliments and feel like I totally got my money's worth. I followed Dana's instructions which helped keep the extensions in tact and will be seeing her for a touch up when the time comes. I would recommend Dana for ANY of your hair needs. She was FANTASTIC!!!! :)

I got Great Lengths extensions from Dana and basically was screwed out of $1600. I recently had them removed and all my current stylist could say was how she was astounded as to what a bad job Dana did!!! Not only did she take about an hour and half to put them in (if the extensions are done right, it should take about 6) according to my current stylist she didn't let the bond set long enough which was why I lost the majority of them in the first month. The extensions that stayed in did so because the large sections of hair (too much hair according to my stylist now) was all tangled and there was no way the extension could come out. Not to mention that she picked two colors for me then didn't even attempt to make the placement of the colors look natural. I feel completely taken advantage of, and I want my money back!!!

I went to Salon Envy on a recommendation of a friend, and I love my new hair cut and color! I have lived in Chicago for 5 years now and never found a salon I felt did a great job until now! I think my stylist went out of her way to make sure we figured out what exactly I wanted before we started..sometimes I have a hard time communicating the style I'm looking for. Don't be fooled by the 5 star rating of this hair salon. I had been going there since they opened and recently decided I had enough. I can't even begin to count how many times I spent waiting because they double book a lot of appointments. Tell me what is the point of cutting corners like this if you lose clientele? I would not recommend this business to anyone, in fact I would warn them that this rating is completely false. They emailed their clients and asked them to give an outstanding review on citysearch so they have some sort of bragging rights I suppose, but in all honesty they could care less about how much they make their clients wait. I have been to several salons in Chicago and never had to sit with a head of wet hair. This happened to me at Salon Envy on several occasions, not to mention that the stylist asked me to brush out my own hair while she mixed my color.... Come on, where is the respect and professionalism? I think Salon Envy has a lot to learn in the customer service department, and hopefully they improve, but at this point I hope they just go out of business. Don't waste your time or money!

I arrived early for my appointment. Ended up waiting forever ( at least 1/2 an hour) past my appointment for her to even great me. She seemed she had too many clients. And was trying to do too many people in between other appointments. Waited forever again in between color and cut. I came with pictures and specific points of what i didn't want. I left with color that looked nothing like the pictures and more so with what I said I DID NOT WANT! They gave me a complimentary treatment because they must have noticed how annoyed I was. But basically I felt ignored in a field that is meant to serve you, the individual that is paying ridiculous prices for something you expect done right.

Pros: Parking lot, high end hair products.

Cons: Cluttered, too much going on, didn't listen at all

I recently went to Salon Envy for highlights. I had Sarah who kept me waiting an excessive amount of time (over an hour)...I was not totally peeved at that; but the whole time I was waiting she never once gave me a look of acknowledgement when she passed by. When she finally got to me, she seemed rushed and rough putting in the foils. Then...when she washed my hair again, she got my sweater all wet, and was like 'oh did you get wet?' without helping to dry me off or anything. I'm not the type who expects pampering, but these small things really got to me, and do not show any level of professionalism or courtesy. The highlights turned out ok, but I would not go back. This city is full of salons, and I know I can get much better service than this.
