I got my VERY curly hair cut by Natasha and am absolutely in love with my hair, Tribe, and Natasha. While other stylists I have been overwhelmed by my hair and have asked ME how to cut my hair, Natasha was able to verbalize exactly what shape would be best for my hair and executed it beautifully. I just had to sit back and let her do her magic! Her passion for hair is apparent in her work and she is very honest about the products and is not pushy at all. I have been somewhat of a gypsy trying to find the best person for my hair and personality and I have found it!! Simply amazing experience!

Heather Simon at Tribe Hair Studio is nothing less than a hair goddess. She has brought my thin, dull, lifeless hair back to life by giving me a cut and color combo that creates shine, body, volume and pizazz! My hair has never looked this amazing and I know that it is all because of Heather. When I went into Tribe I immediately felt a warm and hip atmosphere. I loved it from the moment that I sat on their voluptuous purple couch and started to read thier plethora of awesome magazines. However, I wasn't waiting for long. The speedy Heather soon came over and welcomed me with her warm smile, fantastic hair and charming personality.
As Heather worked on my hair it was as though she read my mind. She knew what would work and she made it happen. I never in my wildest dreams believed that my hair could be this amazing. She gave me amazing Bumble & bumble product and a mini tutorial on how to make it fabulous in five minutes... and get this, it works!
BOTTOM LINE: Heather is a hair genius that boasts natural talent. My hair has never been so amazing. I never thought it was possible to have my hair be this voluminous and fabulous. This is BY FAR the best cut and color I have ever gotten. I will never go to another stylist. I would travel far and wide to receive the amazing hair services of Ms. Heather Simon. Today, I came to Tadimdia desperately in need of a highlight AND haircut correction. She took the time to assess the problems with my color and cut, and thoroughly discuss potential options. She listened to my concerns and what I was looking for. She took alot of time to create beautiful color in the bright warm tones I was looking for, and my cut looks and feels great. Also, she is a joy to talk with - great energy. I moved to PDX five years ago and have finally found the right stylist. I couldn't be happier - I recommend Tad highly!

I recently had Heather put (real) hair extensions in my hair, something I never thought I would do! They were quick, easy, affordable and so easy to work with.

I instantly felt younger going dark and adding extensions to cover up breakage after years of highlights.

I inquired once or twice prior to this experience, in other salons, and I felt the procedure was too indulgent. The cost of the extensions was extreme and the time involved..tortuous.

That was ...until Heather learned about a new way of doing extensions from a co-worker who moved to Portland from Los Angeles. She immediately knew she had to fly to L.A. for training. She did.

Now, a one time fee to purchase these new extensions with an easier and greener application ....gets you in and out & gorgeous in no time.

Heather, you have simplified and have enhanced my life! I want all women to feel like I do.

So, thank-you Heather, Tribe! What an unexpected surprise

Tadimdia is an amazing person and an amazing hairstylist. I have been going to her for a few years now, and always love how my hair looks after our session, she's great at listening to what I want as well as giving me her own input on what would be healthiest for my hair, while cutting and coloring my hair in a way that keeps it fashionable.
I also enjoy going to Tribe Hair Studio, because of the convenience, (it's close to the street car line, and if you live in NW like I do, it's walking distance, there's a place that serves coffee next door) the friendly people, the products they carry, and they also play awesome music and have an amazing amount of window light, which is great in Oregon!
I always leave Tribe Hair Studio feeling fabulous about my hair! :-)

Jenny has been my hairstylist for over 6 years. She does a great job cutting/styling my hair. I wish I could take her home. Jenny also colors my hair and it always turns out so beautiful and more important to me, she keeps it healthy.
Jenny also styled my hair for my wedding day and made me feel beautiful with a sylish updo.
I moved to Seattle over a year ago and still make sure I get down to Portland every three months for my Jenny fix. I always come back looking and feeling great!

Heather's skill matches perfectly with her passion. She is the stylist I have been searching for all these years! I love my cut and color. I especially love my new straight and shiny hair! I've been wanting to try one of those natural straighteners for awhile now and I'm so glad I finally did. My hair has never felt this healthy before, no more frizz, and it practically styles itself! Ok girls, if you read the Hollywood tabloids and dreamed of having great hair like Jennifer, Jessica or Gwen..go to this man, he knows what he is doing and really listens to you...after all you know your hair best.
Every place I have tried around here since moving from DC..they want to give me layers in my pin straight hair, as much as I want Nicole Ritchie style layers they don't look..Jeff agreed and we cut it into a cute blunt cut to get out the awful layers...I got the Jennifer Aniston Gold......and a ton of compliments..my only concern is too many of the ladies will find him and it wlll hard to secure an appt! I have been going to Jenny for years for cut and color. She is an amazing stylist, and I'm so happy to have found her right here in the Pearl! She is very thorough, takes time with her clients, and always spends time at the end making sure everything is perfect. I have also seen pictures of her up-dos for weddings, and they are amazing.

I told the receptionist that I have flaming pink hair that I'm trying to grow out and favor modern, romantic hair cuts and she wisely matched me with Heather, who could get me in tonight! Talk about a Pearl District salon being accessible! Heather spent a whole HOUR cutting my very complicated hair, which I've been trying to grow out. Every other stylist has told me I need to patient with the doldrums of growing out layers... Heather worked with me to find a totally cute cut that I would LOVE while it grows out. She took so much time to understand the shape of my head and my cowlicky hair. I don't think I've ever had a stylist be so precise or have so much fun. I looked totally mod and beautiful when I stepped out. The best haircut of my life!

I have been to Jeff Davidson three times now and I will keep returning. I love my color and my cut.

The first time I went to him I was very impressed with his background. He has been in the hair industry for 13 years working in busy downtown LA. He moved to Portland for a change of pace and to raise his new baby boy.

I decided to go blonde for the summer. I loved the detail and how well it blended with my brown hair. I got a ton of compliments from friends, family and co-workers. He has also done an amazing job shaping my cut to help my hair grow out.

My sister (also now a hairdresser) trained under him and recommended I try this new guy out moving to Portland from LA. Now this "new guy" in town is my official hairdresser. He is hip and I love his work! I would recommend him to anybody.

I was a first time customer and JEFF was my stylist. He is a very nice person, but his cutting technique is nothing special. To that fact, he almost forgot to do my sideburns. But worse, I had to trim them once at home as they were noticeably uneven. His styling is also lacking as he was having problems at the end. He finally gave up and told me to to do it myself. The color he used looks the same as the original. This Santa Monica (Jeff just moved here) pricing of $145 was ridiculous - get a FIRM price before you go in. One last thing, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming as if invading the "tribe's territory".

I first went to Tribe Hair Studio about a year ago, from driving by I noticed the building. Ashley Scott highlighted, trimmed and styled my hair. The cut was elegantly sleek and stylish. The highlights were not too dramatic, not to subtle, everything was just right for my facial features. She picked the best tone. I have seen Ashley about every month and a half since then. I love the way she explains what she is doing, always knows the best style and makes me look great! Her cuts are wonderful no matter if I do my hair or just leave it alone. She's amazing and I will always go to her!

I've always had a hard time finding a hair stylist that really understands my hair, probably because I have so much of it! Finally, I found Heather and I don't think I can/will ever see anyone else. She is the sweetest, most talented hair stylist I have ever met.
My appointment was early. I mentioned that I wasn't a morning person and before I knew it, Heather bounced over to the restaurant next door and bought me a coffee. I was so impressed! It was just what I needed.
From the moment I sat in Heather's chair, I felt that I was in good hands. I wasn't set on the type of style I wanted, so I asked her opinion. She had a great vision for my hair. I had a pretty basic long, brown, very full style when I walked in. We decided to do some thin highlights, obviously a trim, and she took a lot of weight out of my hair. Heather did something called "texturizing" where she took the sheers and ran them from top to bottom. I admit it was a bit scary, but the result was AMAZING! It was important to me that I keep my length but I was so ready to lose some of the volume.
In the end, Heather styled my hair straight (which every girl with as much hair as I have loves) and I left the salon looking hot and ready for a night on the town! I did, and ended up meeting a really great guy that I am still seeing.

Having lived in Portland for over five years, I've bounced around from chair to chair hoping to find somebody with a true artistic eye. I had yet to find somebody that remotely rivaled my longtime stylist in the Bay Area. Stylists here have given me the same type of cut and color & I was extremely bored with my hair. I excitedly walked into Tribe having read all of their stellar reviews on Citysearch. Jeff, the stylist I was given to, gave me a great consultation & I was ready for my makeover. The cut and color he gave me were beyond amazing. Not only did he completely transform my haircut but the color is the most natural looking color I've had since I've been here (what is it with stylists thinking that chunky highlights are still in?!?!) The icing on the cake was that Jeff was an absolute delight to get to know and really seemed passionate about doing hair. I will most definitely be back and am grateful that I finally found my Portland guy!

Let me preface this by saying that after having quite a few mishaps with both cuts and colors at supposedly "upscale" salons, I get really nervous getting my hair done. On a friend's recommendation, I booked my first appointment at TRIBE. I walked through the door & was warmly greeted by their staff. The vibe in there is nice and relaxing without being pretentious. I was introduced to my stylist JEFF, the newest member of TRIBE, who said that he just moved here from Santa Monica where he was not only working at a top salon but was also one of their educators. JEFF gave me a lengthly consultation asking me what was and wasn't working with the cut and color I had. He immediately put me at ease with his warmth, sense of humor and, most importantly, knowledge of hair. I knew that the true test, however, would be what my hair looked like walking out of the salon. I never felt rushed as JEFF took his time to ensure that I got the exact cut & color I wanted. I can't tell you how excited I felt when I saw his finished product! This man is a genius with scissors and I couldn't stop marveling at how great my hair looked (the compliments I received from my boyfriend and friends put me over the moon too.) I can't say enough positive things about JEFF - book this gem of a stylist before word gets out!!!!!!!

She spent a long time giving me a very precise and original cut. I love her creativity, attention to detail, willingness to listen to my specific requests, and great personality! She can do any great classic cut but is also the girl to see for something edgy and totally one-of-a-kind!

I am so happy that my friend referred me to Tribe!! The salon is so chic but also so welcoming! My friend sees Heather so I tried to get in with her and luckily she had a cancellation and fit me in! Heather is so sweet and made me feel very comfortable. I let her do whatever she wanted with my cut and color (with a few restrictions of course!) and I am now seriously in love with my hair! She gave me a ton of styling tips and now my hair actually does what I want it to! Did I mention how great of a deal this place is? I already booked my next appointment! You know you want smooth hair, really you do. Like many people, I wanted to accept my wavy, frizzy, puffy, unruly hair for its natural beauty. Small snag ? it super sucked. My hair was a bully. It dictated my schedule: shower at this time, wrap it up, condition it, smooth it, iron it, sleep like this, on and on. 20 minutes here and there really add up, you know. I finally decided to get it keratin straightened ? and I am so hooked! With some trepidation, I went to see Heather at Tribe. Of course, I had the common concerns: would I emerge from the salon 8 hours later with an empty wallet, crick in my neck, slicked down like a cat after a bath, and smelling faintly like a refinery? Good news: that didn?t happen. Heather, my hair angel, guided me through the process (it smells like bubblegum and strawberries, I kid you not) and it didn?t take nearly as long as I thought it would. The first two times I washed it, my hair was smoother than before, but not life changing. The third time I washed it, I woke up fabulous. Somebody in the elevator said ?nice hair.? ? Um, wow, that would have never happened before. The hardest part is not washing it for 3 days after the process. Bonus: people stop asking you for change downtown = totally worth it. My hair dries much more quickly now, is oh-so-shiny, super soft. Yes, it is an investment, but time is money, and I decided that sanity was priceless. You can hide a lot of things, but your head ? not so much. If you?ve been thinking about it or are curious just call Heather for a consultation. You know you want smooth, straight, shiny hair.

Heard about this new salon and decided to give it a it a try, fully expecting to return to my "regular" salon also down in the Pearl.....I'm staying at Tribe! Love the look and the feel of the Studio and everyone I had contact with was very friendly .
I love the cut and color ASHLEY provided for me. My hair is quite short and therefore if is not done just right
I see it. Well both the cut & the color are just what I wanted. ASHLEY took extra time and worked me through how to recapture the look I was leaving with. So with a few great products a great cut, color and lesson I'm looking HOT!
ASHLEY is my new stylist until one of us move out of Portland - was with my salon 12 yrs.

I love the colors she chose to use...they really highlight my skin tone, and look very natural. I have been searching for a hair stylist in Portland ever since I moved here a couple of years ago. Each time I had to try someone new because each time I wasn't getting the haircut that I wanted. Then recently someone recommended TRIBE and I am so thankful! What a fantastic salon! I went and saw HEATHER, who I just love! I have finally found the stylist I was looking for! Heather really listened to what I wanted and knew exactly how to make what I wanted work on me. I haven't had bangs in 5 years and I am super picky about how they are cut, but I felt completely safe in Heather's hands. I now love my hair! She also was able to color in my pesky gray patch on the top of my head. She matched my hair color perfectly and now...no more gray! Thank you Heather! I will definitely be back!

Wendy and Mehdi - the co-owners are both in touch with the latest in technique and trends. Their ability to take trends and classic looks and make them for you is just unreal. It seems that after each visit I have with Wendy, I am stopped and asked where I get my hair done for either color or the fun cut. While I've seen the long cuts Wendy does on other clients that look remarkable, I have short hair and she is never shy to give me advise on how to modify my look to make it the freshest possible.....the staff is so friendly and fun - you'll just LOVE it!!!!

I went in to Tribe for the first time this morning!!!

I was directed to a stylist named Heather. Not only was she charming, attentive and professional....she gave me the best hair color and cut I have ever had!!! Seriously! I have been directed to top colorists in Portland for years and I have never loved my hair this much!! Ever!!!! (Even my husband went beserk!!!)

It turns out Heather is from British Columbia and was a top award winning stylist there. No wonder....Canada is on the cutting edge of cuts and coloring. I found out when I was leaving that Heather won the best new stylist in BC award in a serious competition drawing stylists from all over. YEP, now Portland gets Heather....and Tribe!!!!

The salon is chic, comfortable and feels like a hip home away from home. The owners are gorgeous, talented and welcoming.....I was even greated by their adorable dog Scarlett!

I walked away from Tribe feeling as if I had the best deal and experience ever!!!!

I will be a loooong standing customer. My advice is to get in with Heather before word gets out!!! I made her promise that no matter how busy she becomes... she will always fit me in. I suggest you do the same!!!

This is the first (and maybe only) time writing a review, so that's a definite sign that I am very satisfied with Tribe Studio!

I am now two weeks into my new cut and color, provided by Ashley, and I couldn't be more pleased. I came in with my hair all kinds of mess, both in cut and color, from two previous stylists (not from Tribe). Ashley was very patient and listened to my long story, developed and then refined the strategy, put me completely at ease and made sure to keep me informed every step of the way. Not only did I walk out of the studio looking fabulous, but I continue to get compliments on my hair and I now finally have the color and easy-to-maintain style I've been seeking.

The studio environment is also great: clean, calm and quiet - not the "club scene" that many salons strive for.

Ashley, you have this client for as long as you want me!

An amazing place!! I called at 4 pm to see if I could get in that evening, and Crystal (who answered the phone) said that she would personally stick around and take care of me when I got there. I went in with the intention of getting a trim. But after being in the comfortable salon for five minutes, having been offered a glass of wine, and relaxing in the comfortable atmosphere, I decided to go for more. Crystal was really amazing, and recommended a hair length that would work with my hair type and be fairly low maintenance (including having bangs for the first time in ten years). When she had finished, I said, "I love it! Can we dye it brown?" Without even hesitating she committed to another hour with me and turned my hair the most beautiful chocolate color. It has never looked so good. She was incredibly talented and fun to hang out with while we spent two hours doing a total hair makeover. I recommend Tribe (and Crystal) for anyone... it was the most rewarding experience I have ever had in a salon.

I have never written a review on city search, but my new hair cut and color from Crystal has forced to write here. I have been getting my hair cut at a different Portland Salon for a few years, but recently had found my style to be lacking. A friend had recently gotten her hair cut at Tribe and it looked awesome, so I called and made an appointment. My friend had gotten a hair cut with the owner, but I ended up with Crystal. And I'm so glad!!! I got there really early and found a FREE parking spot out front and went next door for a lovely lunch then walked into Tribe an hour early, just to see if she might be available to start early (I live on the coast so always allow a lot of time for traffic etc.) Well she also had arrived early and I was her only appointment so we got started. Let me say that I have been getting my hair done at top salons in Phoenix, LA, and here in Portland for 10 years and never has anyone actually spent time looking through my hair and really talking to me about what I want. Then we looked at pictures and swatches and came to a conclusion. I knew right away that she cared about how my hair was going to turn out. Well 4.5 hours, 350 foils, three hair dye shades, and two different toners, not to mention a rockin haircut later, I have the most beautiful blond mane ever, and the best word to describe my new look is "fierce"! I love Crystal. I still can't believe that she spent so much time and energy on my hair and that I look so great. The salon was very stylish and the chairs comfortable. And did I mention free parking! I'm so excited to go back.
