With floor to ceiling windows and glass panel doors that disappear into the walls, the restaurant has a breezy, fresh-air feel and panorama view of people parading from the energetic East Village to the gregarious Gaslamp District. The eclectic innovative cuisine creates a memorable experience for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. From appetizers to entrees, Soliel @k is California dining at its best. Soleil @k is a popular dining spot in downtown San Diego, where food lovers go for modern, California cuisine emphasizing the region's harvest from both land and sea. Soleil @k features a sampling of new dishes including Star Ranch Grass-Fed Ribeye, Horseradish Crusted Black Sea Bass and Roasted Maple Leaf Duck. It also offers an extensive selection of regional wines, boasting more than 35 wines available by the glass. Come relax, enjoy and dine in good company with the tapas-style portions.

In Short
In the lobby of the Gaslamp Marriot, Soleil is a warm and inviting room with rich tones, modern fixtures and a comfortable feel. Long banquet tables seat as many as 20, but are typically divided by centerpieces to appease smaller parties of hip Gaslamp regulars and less trendy hotel guests. The restaurant serves three meals daily, with the dinner menu offering fresh twists on traditional American fare including short ribs, duck, chicken, steak and seafood.

Key Points

  • Call to book your next event
  • Over 35 wines available by the glass

The Inside Scoop

  1. Where To Sit - For a more intimate experience than the communal tables, request a corner booth.
  2. Where To Park - Soleil @ K offers valet parking, a nice alternative to the crowded streets and overpriced local lots.

Great Atmosphere!

by Kim H.

This isn't like your typical chain hotel dining experience. The Gaslamp has more than it's share of restaurants to choose from, but this restaurant located in the Marriott hotel deserves your consideration. The atmosphere is cozy but sophisticated and the food was really good. Recommended!

Great Place

by tarca

We just went there last Friday night. The food was great from the specials to what was on the menu. The place was not busy at all, which was a bit of a concern, but maybe people just need to know about it, because the food was very, very good. Service was good also. Then we headed up to the Altitude Sky bar. That was very nice. These are great places to enjoy a great meal and a great view and some drinks afterwards. Very nice evening out.

Pros: The food, everything was great

Cons: Non

Great lunch spot

by Coloradogirl09

I really like this place. I was visiting San Diego to see a friend and she recommended Soleil @k to me. The lunch was delicious! I had the lobster BLT and it was SO good. The flatbreads are also a really great starter.

Pros: Great location, right in the Gaslamp Quarter

Bad Service

by BeckyPerez

I have a "family" breaksfast last weekend in this delicious brunch buffet, but we were sitted like 25 mins and nobody ask or explain nothing. We wait more than 30 mins. for a chocolate milk. There were like 8 people in the service but believe me service and attention is really bad, food it is very good.

Pros: Excellent food and the chef is excellent

Cons: Very poor custome service

All we wanted was a drink...

by juliebroman

My husband and I recently visited Soleil on a Sunday afternoon after driving from LA. We were looking to enjoy a few drinks and appetizers...who knew it would be such a challenge. We waited 20 minutes for our drinks before asking our waiter if they were coming. His response was that "The bartender was really busy". We found that really hard to believe since there were maybe 8 people in the entire restaurant and bar. We waited for another 10 minutes and the drinks still did not arrive. The service was so bad that we decided to leave. After our weekend in San Diego, we decided that the most of the restaurants in the Gas Lamp District are all facade with very little substance.

Pros: pretty design

Cons: amateur wait staff, extremely unattentive service

nice people

by notasurfer

I usually run straight up to Altitude when i go to the marriott, but the other day I stayed down at this place downstairs b/c they had great happy hour food and drink deals. So glad I did! There were such fun people at the bar, and all the happy hour prices were awesome.
