Best lunch!

Peem Kaew has the best lunch in the Pearl. It's reasonably priced and it's healthy. Plus they do punch cards.

Nice location, Decent Food (nothing to crave about)
by srkkreddy
3 stars because it's decent food, which is the most important thing for me in a restaurant... the crab fried rice that we ordered was good, but the Tom Yum soup wasn't goup. The drunken noodles was okay. Red curry was decent.
I come to expect better Thai food, when there are so many in greater Portland area.
Good service, the food was served fast & they were prompt.
The location of the restaurant in Pearl district is amazing.
Pros: Great location, good service
Cons: Decent food

Best Thai food in Portland!
by gocoug
Krystal is wonderful cheery owner and staff obviously loves working for her. She has an obvious presence in the restaurant at all times and this seems to be rare in the restaurant business these days AND it makes a BIG difference!!
Pros: Airy bright space & wonderful service
Cons: Slightly off beaten track but well worth the effort!

excellent food, EVERY time
by pdxpooch
I discovered this place years ago when I lived in southeast Portland... I now live a few blocks away from Peem Kaew's (PK'S) and the ONLY drawback is I want to eat there all the time... Seriously. The pad thai and peanut sauce is the BEST I have ever had, even while I was in Asia. Great curries also. Perfectly spiced, not too sweet. The food flavor keeps me coming back, the best in portland... Great portions for the price too.
Pros: consistently perfect food
Cons: are there any?

Drunken Noodle Heaven!
by cafejeff
We have a plethora of Thai restaurants in the Portland area. "PK" as us regulars call it, is one of the best. I enjoy the "Pumpkin curry", "Spicy Asparagus" and especially the Drunken Noodle. I live 35 miles west of PDX and will drive to PK for the food. I have found the staff to be friendly, but sometimes they are very busy. If you treat them as you would like to be treated ( respect, patience, etc) they will go out of their way to be helpful in your dining experience.
Pros: The food the atmosphere, local artists represented on walls
Cons: can be a little busy sometimes, just as other popular places

Amazing Thai Food
by lharvell
My husband and I were visiting Portland for a week and came across Peem Kaew quite by accident. We arrived for an early lunch, and I knew we were in for something special when I saw a group of Buddhist monks, donned in orange robes, eating at a table in the back. With the first taste of Tom Kha, I was in heaven. The flavor was complex, and the texture, velvety. I couldn't believe an extra large bowl that my husband and I shared was only $6.95. We ate there three times on our trip, and we had the Tom Kha soup every time. We also tried the Veggie Delight with Tofu, Pad Thai Noodles, and Spicy Asparagus. All of them were extraordinary, but the Spicy Asparagus was truly a surprise. It was a dish I probably would never have ordered, but my husband wanted to try it, and I'm so glad we did. I loved it!!!!! We had most things spiced to a level three, but we did reduce to a level two on the Tom Kha after the first time. I'm not sure we specified a spice level for the Spicy Asparagus- it was HOT, but PERFECT that way. It was not the fastest service I have ever had, but considering that everything was perfection when it arrived, it was well worth ANY wait. We tried several of the restaurants listed under local favorites that had the best ratings. Some were good, but we were usually a little disappointed. My only regret is that I didn't eat at Peem Kaew every day and try everything on the menu. I guarantee that is what I'll do if I am fortunate enough to return to Portland in the future.
Pros: Best Thai food I have ever eaten.

Good food - horrid wait
by ecwinans
We arrived and it took a moment to be seated, no big deal. But then I had to literally walk up and find out waitress so we could order, later to get our water filled, and also to ask for more utensils. When it came time to pay, I walked the check up to the counter but waited in line for a good 10 minutes while people ordering take out were able to go ahead of me. By then, the line to be seated was very long and there were plenty of empty tables, just no one was attending to them. Some people even walked out. My advise, call ahead and order to go and you get to cut to the front of the line to pay and can eat outside in the park blocks. But the food was good.
Pros: Good food and location
Cons: Waiting

Terrible service
by portlandfoodie2008
I walk in, and it's a good minute before an employee even notices me and seats me. Then I sit there like an idiot, waiting for her to take my order. She didn't even give me a menu to look at. After several minutes of this, and a huge stream of customers coming in *after* me, I figured it would take forever to get any food out of this joint.
Yet, I was hungry, so I walked a few blocks to another Thai place close by and experienced their always delicious food and always good service.
Pros: Location?
Cons: Awful service

RUDE SERVICE, Will not be going back!!
by panp1234
Decided to try a new thai restaurant with a restaurant. com certificate, called just before we got there to verify they would accept it for dinner since I had heard things about some restaurants not wanting to honor them at certain times, etc. Said they would. Arrived and older gentleman that works there, not sure if he is an owner or what, but was about the rudest person in the service industry I have come accross for NO REASON! As soon as he came to our table with an appetizer (first time he came to our table, a nice lady was there at first) he abruptly picked up my son's napkin and literally threw it down towards his lap and then started rearranging stuff on the table and slamming things around. We were pretty taken aback. It pretty much went from there. We were on eggshells our whole dinner. Should have just left. After dinner when I went to pay he tried telling me he wouldn't take the certificate so I told him I called just before we came in and was told they would. He then told me that since I didn't tell them at the beginning of our dinner when we sat down that we had the coupon he wouldn't take it. I put up a bit of a fuss at that point because that just sounded ridiculous. Almost as if they are trying to get you in there with the coupon and then purposefully not honoring it. Bad bad business as far as I'm concerned. And even worse is that when people are treated out and out rude when they've been nothing but pleasant, they tend to not come back and not say pleasant things about recommending the place. Doesn't seem like rocket science. Might want to think about that when business is whaning sir! Most people go out to eat to have a nice night out, not to get treated like dirt. You can gaurantee you won't see another penny out of my pocket or a nice word about the restaurant! The nice thing about restaurant. com is that it's a good way to go find new spots for dinners out and become a returning customer if you like the place. I think the only thing they may be doing is driving people away. Kind of defeating the purpose???
Pros: good location, cute place
Cons: RUDEST service ever, ok food....

Go to McDonald's Instead
by scothighlander
It is a lovely location with nice use of art. So, walking into the restaurant it starts off as a good experience; however, after I tried the food and then put up with the WORST service in Portland, or anywhere else for that matter, I quickly realized that I should have went to the museum for art and McDonald's for better food. And, since the art was somewhat a draw to the place, I am sure if Van Gogh would have tried this restaurant he would have cut his tongue out compared to his ear. It was really that bad.
Pros: nice building space
Cons: worst service in Portland

Horrible Service!!
by zoe97209
The food is usually good; however, the service is not. They should learn some manners--when they give you the wrong order and you have to wait over 20 minutes for your what you ordered to arrive they should say something along the lines of, "sorry"....there is nothing special about this place.
Pros: The food.
Cons: The service.

Best Fried Rice
by Maddengsp
I had the Pineapple fried rice and it was probably the best fried rice that I've had. Who would have thought that fried rice with pineapple and raisins would be so good. Can not wait to try out some of the other dishes, but I will not eat fried rice from any other place.

slaap in the FACE!
by donkerlicious
This place is a slaap in the face for Thai food. I just think that people should have a higher expectation for this place. Besides the bad service, i found out that the food aren't great. Their famous bangkok street noodles are very inconsistent. I've been in there twice and one time it was ok and another time it was soggy like a bowl of noodle soup.

This is the best thai food
by Cutiepie11
When I walked in here I noticed how wonderful the costumer service was. I loved the color tones. Now when I want Thai food I come here. The way that they welcome kids is so great. Also the waiters will warn you if the food is really spicy. Also you have to try the sweet rice it is so good.
Thanks for reading
Pros: They helped me find the perfect food

Try then Cry!
by MeatLewis
I heard a lot of good things about this place UNTIL i tried it! After eating there i felt like i had to write something somewhere. Then i got onto citysearch here when i google "food reviews". I have to say there are a lot of people on here that HAD BAD expericences from this Puuke Kaew place. My dining experience was ok but the food is off the chart on the terrible scale. 1-10 on sweet thai food, it must have been at 20! geez. The other thing is that it is NOT the best THai food. I get it when people say yeah its sweet but that's not even why it's not good. The food portion was terrible and the texture of all the dishes are all the same, SOUPY! be aware people BE AWARE!

NOT WORTH trying....
by nellibelli
Well, I live across the river and i wanted to go into downtown portland and try some good thai food. Unfortunately, I went to this terrible service place. My fiance and I were indecisive about a thai place so we kind of drove around and bump into this deceptively nice restaurant. We went in and there were no one there to seat us. So we decided to sit down and wait for service. Finally, we ordered pad thai and the pumpkin curry. It came out somewhat sweet. And they overdid with the peanut on the Pad Thai. It was like "can i get some noodles with my plate of peanuts." Then i asked the older gentlemen for a glass of water and he said he would be right back. He NEVER did! oh well. So then we pay for the food and told ourselves not to come back to this place.
Pros: nicely lit
Cons: food!

I went there a couple of times because i want to see what's the consistency of the restaurant is like. IT IS defintely consistently BAD. SWEET SWEET SWEET and SOGGY SOGGY DAMP! must i say more? I'm sorry for those who are so hung up on 1 little act of kindness and pour all their money to eat "Khee". That's **** in Thai.

Awesome Thai!
by mrb65
I have been in Portland a long, long time - and I love Thai food because each place is quite a bit different than the next. I had the Pad Cashew Nut....spicey - just how I asked for it. The servers are very courteous and quick and the ambiance is casual but very visually appealing. This place is a great value and is a great alternative to the more expensive, high brow places in the Pearl District.
Pros: Food, Ambiance, Service

Best Thai Food in Town
by FoodFanPDX
PeemKaew is a gem. Great food, great service, and a modern atmosphere with art that changes and is always interesting. I've been eating here for years and always have a wonderful experience. Don't miss the Spicy Asparagus, Pad Thai or Panang Curry. The Tom Kha and Tom Yum can't be beat. In fact, you can't go wrong here. Recently we had a dinner party of 12, one of whom has lived in Thailand and is an excellent Thai cook herself. She pronounce the food 'absolutely marvelous.' Even though our party was large, all the dishes we ordered came promptly, were beautifully presented and were delicious. There were a number of special dietary needs in our party (no nuts, no wheat, no shellfish). Each request was filled perfectly. The wait staff know their ingredients and were able to assist us in ordering what worked for everyone. Eat hearty and then you can walk to Powells Books after dinner !!
Pros: Great Food, Extensive Menu, Friendly Staff
Cons: I wish they served lunch on Sundays

Food from Thailand? I think NOT
by McB3th
Well, i'm not very fond of these rating sites because people are really bias and they are not rating the food. They always rate how they were treated by the ONE waiter or the atmosphere. And some people likes it because they been going there for a while and their tastebud tends to stick to the bad food. The reason I am on here because I had to look for a restaurant around the Pearl because my new job is by the Pearl. I read a lot of reviews about this restaurant. Half of the reviews are good and half are bad. So I decided to try it out for myself.
HOWEVER, the food was terrible like half the people said. The bangkok street noodle was damp and soggy. The curry was super sweet. It almost taste like desert. The Vegetable Delight was not fresh and it was very little (not enough for an eight year old).
I've been to Thailand plenty of times. And I'm sorry to say but EVEN if you been to Thailand a million times and you've tasted the food there and you think this place is good. Then i would reccomend you to go have your tastebud check or your brain sensory check because NO Thai food should be this terrible.
I am wasting my time writing this but people MUST be warned!
Pros: The atmosphere (i'm not big on atmosphere)
Cons: the FOOD!

Authentic and Delicious
by nicegirlzfinishfirst
I was laughing a little (very little) when I read the reviews, as it seems there are some very fussy people around. Unfortunately it's the complainers who make the comments so much more than the folks who are always happy. It is my pleasure to tell the world that I have been a loyal customer of PeemKaew for several years now and my experience has always been impeccable. First of all - THE OWNER IS THAI, I know her personally and can vouch for that. She has been creating authentic Thai cuisine since her childhood cooking in her grandmother's kitchen...in Thailand! In addition - she personally creates the menu for her restaurant. Secondly, while I'll admit to having my favorites, there isn't one thing on her menu that I have not thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend. Just go by any afternoon of the week and the crowds alone can attest to the food... and at a great bargain too!
Pros: Busy lunch can need a small amoutn of patience.
Cons: parking

THIS ASIAN PRINCESS LOVES THIS THAI FOOD
by 1AsianPrincess
Wow. . . this is one of my favorite restaurants so far. Pumpkin curry (a little spicy) but delicous. Pad Thai and peanut sauce are amazing. In the times of tight dollars, this is place provides food at an excellent value . . . generous portions and very nuvo asian ambience. Rice with pineapples, chicken, raisins and pecans is my favorite. The owner actually gave us gratias an interesting salad dish with squid and shrimp. The sticky rice dessert with mango takes me home to my Asian roots. Good food. . . even round eyes would like it.
Pros: Ambience, Service, Food
Cons: Parking

service great, pretty place, but food was bland
by jimenitayo
this was our first visit, only to redeem a restaurantdotcom coupon. I called ahead and confirmed and then asked again as I showed up to make sure they'd honor it. the service was friendly, attentive and fast. we liked the atmosphere. we ordered 3 appetizers, the portions were small, but the peanut sauce was amazing. we had pad thai and massaman curry. portions were fine but blaaaaaaaaaaaaand. boring. then we had sweet sticky rice, it was fine, but really salty. it was really disappointing, because we were really hoping to make this one of our regular spots, all because of the coupons. but, even though we're horrible cheapskates, we decided to go back to our usual spot, which ends up being more expensive without the coupons. oh well.
Pros: pretty place, good atmosphere, cheap with a coupon
Cons: the food was just so bland and boring we couldnt come back

VERY LOVABLE THAI FOOD!!! BEST IN THE PEARL!!!
by gwygilman
I am not sure what some of these critics are talking about not liking Peemkaew! They have great food!! Fantastic curries, street noodle soup is my husbands favorite.I have never been dissappointed when going there! I have not tryed any duck dishes but all the traditional Thai dishes I have tried and they are great! Great price and quick service. Good Tom Kha soup...I just love the place! We go there often and I would take it over E-San, Bow Thai, and sometimes Thai Orchid although they are tasty too :o) Peemkauw supports local artists and is a locally owned place which is another reason I like to go there but there is no substitute for the GREAT FOOD they have!!!!
Pros: Great food! Speedy Service, always hot! Locally owned, supports local artist. Cheap
Cons: can be busy during lunch but hardly ever wait. Service can be not really sociable but effective

KNOW the difference between GOOD FOOD and CHEAP FOOD!
by BreeziN
If you like to eat regular maybe not even great Thai food. You STILL need to STAY AWAY from this place. Besides the bad customer service, there are many downfalls about their food. The Pad Khee Mao taste like noodles fried with oil and mushy meat. The Curry is really watered down. I thought I could get some decent Thai food in the pearl but I cannot stand THIS bad of THai food. When i left i picked up the owner's card and noticed that he wasn't even Thai. No Wonder it tastes so bad.
The price was reasonable for lunch. BUT if you trade Taste for $$ then you shouldn't even write reviews. You can just go to 8th street downtown and eat off of Thai food carts! Those are cheap and BETTER than this place.
Pros: it's cheap for those who doesn't care about TASTE!
Cons: Try it out and you'll know what i'm talking about.

A set back of the CENTURY!!!
by Bnugent
I don't usually write reviews but this place is beyond crappy so i decided to write one.
We went out Saturday night for dinner with my family because we had a coupon from a restaraunt website. I read some good reviews but ignored the bad ones. Now I know NOT to do so.
So we ordered the duck salad and the bangkok street noodles because everyone says it is so good. The duck on the salad was greasy and fatty. We are trying to eat healthy and all. I asked the older gentlemen to replace the fatty duck with some lean meat. He told me that he would charge me double for lean meat. That WAS disappointing! Anyhow, when the street noodles came out, i didn't not know whether i should stand up and leave without paying or I should have another worthless conversation with the waiter. The noodles was terrible. It tasted like campbell noodle soup that was sat out for 3 days.
I just wanted to warn anyone who is thinking about trying out this place. THINK AGAIN! oh by the way, they didn't accept the coupon i got off the website.
Pros: street parking
Cons: terrible food

Dinner from HELL!
by chuckphillips
So we went to try this restaurant for dinner last night for our anniversary. We have a coupon from restaurant dot com. The restaurant has a pretty nice setting. The young guy who sat us down was very nice. However when we ordered with this older guy, he was extremely rude. He was hurrying us to order and not give us time. The restaurant was somewhat busy but he would tell us to make decision right away or else he'll go to the next table. So then we ordered and my pad thai came out mushy. I asked him if they can make me a different dish and he told me that he would charge me for 2 dishes. So i bit my tounge and ate that dish. When we go up to pay, he told us we can't use the coupon we had because they don't do coupon during dinner time. I was surprise because on the website it does not indicate any meal restrictions. Sorry to say but i would rather pay a little more for BETTER FOOD and better service.
Pros: nice settings
Cons: everything else

SORRY I TRIED!
by T0nyDane
It was okay when i first got in. They greeted me and sat me down right away. But the waiter did not take my order until i went up to the counter and ask to order. I think they were busy trying to sit people and collecting money. So, i thought to myself this place MUST HAVE good food to offset their terrible slow service. BUT OH NO! The food was terribly sweet. We ordered 4 dishes: pad thai, pad khe maew, fried rice and curry. ALL four taste like my mom's desert; extremely sweet and soggy. I guess whoever likes sweet sweet thai food then that's the place for them. And so when I needed to pay, i had to stand in line AND they DENIED my restaurant dot com coupon. They say it has to be dinner. BUT on the site/coupon it did not say DINNER coupon. WELL, good luck if you want to try it out.
Pros: big glass of water
Cons: sweet thai food

Worst experience so far
by mm17
I am surprised this place has a five star rating. In my opinion it should have a one. The food is drab at best. The drunken noodles which they call their specialty were dry and tasteless. And so was the barbecue chicken with the "secret" sauce they have created. The waiting staff do just that....make you wait... in an empty restaurant! There is no privacy at all from other diners, and if you have a party of 4 adults and 5 kids (with the kids behaving surprisingly well, but the adults acting like a bunch of peasants), your evening is sure to be ruined.
Pros: Some average paintings on the walls for sale, thats all
Cons: Food, ambience, service

Excellent combination of value for money and yummy goodness
by grantkruger
I work in the Pearl and it is filled with overpriced pretentious restaurants where you pay too much for too little. But then there's PKs. Wow. My kind of place. I love a great restaurant on a special occasion and I'll pay more if I think it's worth it, but I rarely do think they are worth it. Mostly I think they are just overpriced and trendy. Portland is full of overpriced Thai and there's also plenty of cheap Thai, but there's not as much in that in-between area. For an overall combination of value and quality, I know no better place than PKs. I go there often, sometimes several times a week. The Pad Se Ew is awesome and so are the garlic veggies. And the best salad rolls in town, with the best peanut sauce. Service is okay (servers are about speed, not smiles) but the food comes out faster than any other place I go. The owner is great to talk to and she told me she wanted to create a place that people liked enough to go often, but that was also affordable. She succeeded. Love them. My favorite Thai in Portland.
Pros: just about everything
Cons: service is fast, but not friendly

Sorry We Bothered
by Misty11
After reading all the great reviews here, I chose to redeem my Restaurantdotcom gift certificate at Peemkaew. I invited my friend to meet me downtown for lunch on Mon. When we arrived we were seated by a friendly young woman and then waited for some time for a man to ask us if we were ready. There are so many nicer ways to approach a table than "Are you ready?" I was really looking forward to the Paper Moon appetizer that advertised Dungeness Crab in the filling. I was very disappointed to find they use KRAB in this dish. Yuck! The Tom Kha soup was delicious but the Pad Thai and Lemon grass chicken were only average. The Pad Thai is overly sweet in my opinion. While the food had hits and complete misses, the truly awful part was the service. I have rarely felt so unwelcome in a restaurant and I was so embarrassed to have invited my friend along for this rude treatment. I don't know if it was having the gift certificate or if this is what passes for service here but I am sorry we bothered you with our business and will never return again. Here are some words to add to your vocabulary Peemkaew, please, thank you and you're welcome. While I don't want to become best friends with my server I do expect a certain level of basic courtesy. Peemkaew failed this basic standard. When so many restaurants are struggling in this economy they should be trying just a little bit harder to get return customers. I won't be one of them.
Pros: Tom Kha soup
Cons: Rude server

Authentic and amazing cuisine
by FoodCritical109
My boyfriend and I love any type of ethnic food and we are always on the hunt for a new good restaurant to visit. We have been patrons of PeemKaew for a couple of years and have always loved the food. More recently though, we have discovered that any other Thai restuarant we try is always compared to and never as good as PeemKaew. The food is consistently good and we are picky. The ambiance is romantic and the service is efficient and the the prices are really good.
Pros: Food
Cons: can be busy

Good food.
by aarthiasdad
My family loves Thai food and hence we love to go to PeemKaew. We have eaten in this place at least a dozen times in the last six months and love the food. We have had a small goof in our order once but they had too many people in the restaurant that day and may be the cook was just a bit strained.
There is a guy who serves food at this place and is very warm and friendly to us. We overall like the food and the experience of dining there. Parking near the restaurant is not a problem though this place is in downtown and it is a huge plus for this place.
Pros: Food, Parking, Service

Must have been an off-night.
by foodstalker
I had dinner here last week because of the rave reviews but must it have been an off night. First I stood at the hostess podium for about 10 minutes while a waiter buzzed past me several times serving the tables. He was the only person I saw around. I finally stopped him and asked him if I could be seated (there were many empty tables), he muttered something about having to take care of 3 other tables before he could get to me. I was fine with that, I just would have appreciated him taking just one moment when I first arrived to let me know that there would be a wait rather than ignoring me while breezing past to serve the other patrons. Once seated, he was a good server, very prompt and congenial and was assisted by another server who must have just arrived. I ordered the pumpkin curry with chicken and the 3 flavors halibut. The service was quick and the food was presented beautifully. The curry was very good but the halibut had a very sweet sticky sauce that was just too much. That might have been my mistake, perhaps all 3 flavor sauces are that way, but it was just way too thick and sweet. The halibut was good, fresh tasting with a nice crunchy coating. The rice that accompanied the meal was dry and crumbly. I had the mango sticky rice for dessert and it was OK but with a small portion of mango. The next day I ate at Thai Noon on Alberta and it just outdid PK in every way: taste, service, portion sizes and ambience.
Pros: The pumpkin curry
Cons: Poor service, mediocre food

I have been to the best Thai Restaurants in NYC and Toronto... I have also been to thailand a few times and without a doubt PeemKaew offers the most authentic Thai food in Portland and all at a nominal cost.
Pros: The food has authentic Thai Flavor... 1/3rd the cost of what i paid in Toronto
Cons: none

The Best.
by vprod
I really love this place, so much. My boyfriend & I go here often, and even though we are poor college students, we can still get normal entrees and a nice appetizer for under $25! Yay. Also, the waitresses are so sweet and cute, and I never felt like anyone even has a bad day over there. About the food, I never liked Thai before coming to Portland (I always felt like it was a bit greasy/sauce-y for my taste) and this place is just amazing. Everything is always cooked perfectly and the 'star rating' is always right on (though I can only handle a 2 at best). Anyway, I love you Peem Kaew, thinking of you always makes me hungry.
Pros: Food! Prices! Nice people!
Cons: They should get a soda fountain, soda from cans aren't very good :(

Absolutely amazing... you could order anything on the menu and you'll leave scratching the floor with your fingernails as security tries to get you to leave. You will stalk this place, seriously.
Pros: Best Thai food in Porland, hands down, at unbeatable prices!
Cons: Not a damn thing, and believe me, I was trying to find something.

I don't order more than two stars, but this time I'll go five

I guess if they issued memberships, I'd probably qualify as a Gold Card Member. Since PeemKaew opened, I've been a habitual Friday lunch regular and also a fairly established Saturday patron. Although they're closed for lunch on Sunday, it hasn't prevented me from occasionally stopping by to look in the window. I'm not pining, I'm looking at the art on the wall. Sure I've had an occasional dish that was too spicy, but you either like Thai food or you don't. The staff is cool; nothing pretentious. Used to visit Thai Orchid, but the food caliber became too erratic.

Go to PeemKaew today if you want to have the most authentic and flavorful Thai food available in Portland. I have been telling everyone about the meal I had there the other night. After trying several medocre restaurants this one is a welcome surprise. The food is amazing. Try the Asparagus and the Pad Thai, it is deeeelish!
Pros: Great food for a great price
Cons: parking is limited

Thai food at its best!
by CGGale
Peem Kaew Thai in the Pearl is a must for lovers of Thai cuisine. The food is absolutely scrumptious, the decor vibrant, the ambiance fun with a diverse mix of diners, and the service the friendliest this side of town. Among my menu favorites are the Tom Yum soup, Pad Thai noodles, Pineapple fried rice, Beef salad and the Pumpkin curry. But there are lots more for me to try, and thought of doing so is enough to whet my apppetite. I must go there tonite!

Yummy, yummy, yummy

As a newcomer to the Portland area I was really excited to experience my first Art In The Pearl event last night. As we walked around we came across this chic and busy Thai food place and decided to try it out. The food was spectacular and we really enjoyed the bustling atmosphere. I could see by the smiles that everyone in the place was enjoying their meal. I always give credit where credit is due and I recommend PeemKaew very highly. Authentic and deliicious!!
Pros: Great location, delicious food
Cons: could use more seating

Best Thai Food In Portland, Excellent Service
by ThaiLoverExtreme
I visted PeemKaew on a recommendation of a friend and the food was everything I had hoped. Excellent flavors, fast and friendly service. The owner made me feel like the most important customer in the place, (as I saw her do with everyone). What a treasure, right here in our own backyard. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants great food, wonderful atmosphere and warm, friendly service.
Pros: Thumbs up to great food and great service
Cons: Parking can be somewhat limited, but where in Portland isn't?

PeemKaew better than food in Thailand
by Aaronviolin
PeemKaew is absolutely the best- I have spent a lot of time in Thailand with my wife, and we have eaten at just about every good Thai restaurant in Portland. So, speaking from a great base of comparison I can honestly say that PeeKaew is the best. We bring all of our friends here and dine here often , PeemKaew is consistanly fabulous, mouth wateringly delicious. The Crab fried rice , druken noodles, and Coconut soup are devine. We are always greeted with a smile here and the staff are very friendly. Any negative review of this place I would absolutely ignore. I guarantee that if you try PeemKaew you'll go back , again and again.
Pros: authentic and unique food, plentiful portions, not the same drab stuff you see on most thai menus
Cons: cannot think of any

Horrible Service! Says One Thing, Does Another!
by sanfranciscotastetester
Ok I'm not sure what you all are used to in the world but if a website says free delivery and does not state a minimum amount, then don't you think it should be followed through? Well, I just got off the phone and wanted to make a order for two items that added up to $22 and was told it couldn't be done. She said I needed to order at least $35 of food! This, in all my days of ordering out, has been one of the most expensive amounts to be met on a delivery order, especially for Thai food. When the waitress or host told me that it was that, or use a company called Delivery Dish, which was about the same price, I was apalled! I told her that it did not state any of this information on their site and for principal sake to please honor what they said on their page, but she declined and attempted to hang up, saying, "Ok goodbye!" Before she hung up, I then asked if they were now going to deliver, and she just said sorry and hung up. Long story short, DO NOT BUY OR GO TO THIS RESTAURANT IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED POORLY!!!!
Pros: It's Thai food
Cons: Bad Service, Below Average Taste
