Look for the 'little Jane' hat

by carol b. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 212

It may sound strange to like a coffee house because they have paraphernalia from a tv show but I do. I just had to buy the little Jane hat. If you dont know what I mean you will still like the interesting coffee specials they offer and the super friendly service.

one of Seattle's treasures

by Douglas A. B. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 256

One of my favorite coffeehouses in the city. It's the antithesis of any other corporate coffee shop you might visit. Funky old furniture you can relax on for as long as you want, WAY better than average coffee drinks, and a wonderful focus on the long canceled "Firefly" television series. This is one of Seattle's treasures.

Wayward Coffeehouse is the only real choice.

by Nathan C.

I consider myself an aficionado of the "coffeehouse" experience. It has, after all, quite the lengthy tradition, and I am a bit of a traditionalist.

What a good coffeehouse needs are: Good coffee, friendly staff, ample seating, special events to pull people in, and music that isn't so intrusive that it keeps you from enjoying the experience. Throw in a bookshelf, comfy chairs, a stack of games, and late hours, and said coffeehouse threatens to approach perfection.

Is the Wayward Coffeehouse perfection? Yes and no. If a wave of people comes in at once, you might find yourself lingering at the counter for your drink to be made, as the only time they are double staffed seems to be a shift change. And as the owner is a vegetarian, you will find no meat products on the menu. But those are merely quibbles. The ample list of cleverly named sandwiches (toasted cheese with hummus or peppers being my favorites) and innovative espresso drinks (white chocolate wasabi mocha, for instance) more than makes up for a little wait.

Open until 11, it fits with my schedule, and the menu fits with my budget. And the coffee, fairly traded and shade grown organic coffee from Tony's makes a mean cuppa joe.

Highly recommended for those looking to kill an hour or two over hot drinks.
