Went there after getting recommendations such as some of these. The atmosphere is nice but the food was terrible! Steaks are absolutely awful! I tried the filet mignon and my husband tried the T-bone. We are from Texas and know a good quality meat. Don't bother. If anyone has a Good suggestion, please provide. Still looking for that perfect steak in Tucson (new in the area). For now, the Rib Eye at Texas Roadhouse is great!

I was a customer for 17 years but the last four times had a small, tough, flavorless steak. I am VERY sorry to say I will not go there again until I hear it changes back. They used to have excellent tender, flavorful, thick steaks. They no longer list the steak size on their menu. The Big Cowboy 32 oz. steak is now about 16 oz. I wish they had just increased the prices rather than reduce quality. If you do not believe me, ask yourself why you do not have to wait in line for an hour anymore.

I avoid going to Pinnacle Peak on any night that could be popular among the tourists... trying to get a table, and then actually enjoying your meal, is virtually impossible in an atmosphere clogged by tourists.
But if you're blessed enough to get there early and on a "off" night, the salad is quite good, the steaks are great, and it's a fun night for my friends and I.

I love this place. It has the best ribs ever. Great place to take visitors since it is very touristy. Go, have a few drinks before dinner, then after dinner you can walk it off but looking at all the shops. Fun place.

While the food at Pinnacle Peak is every bit of what you pay for I have to say the 'tie cutting" needs to be rethought. My first encounter in the establishment cost me a $1000 silk tie without warning. I walked in the front to make a few querries as to availablility for a party of 20+. The individual who was the focus of my questions quickly reached across the intervening space and sliced off my tie without any form of warning. This having been my first time to this establishment I felt that doing so was completely out of line. I had to pull myself up short not to immediately strike this individual who had stuck a sharp object near my throat without warning of any sort while attempting to comply with the standing policy. Such actions as this while giving the place a definite point of note seriously need to be considered. Some individuals who would have such a thing done to them wouldn't hesitate a second to assault someone coming at them with a set of shears unexpectedly or clariffication. Needless to say I grabbed the remains of my vaunted tie and immediately left the establishment a bit wiser and more than a bit insulted at the lack of basic courtesy. Had I been asked I would have gladly removed the tie rather than have it unexpectedly sliced from below my chin without warning.

Several months later I returned wearing levis and a t-shirt and enjoyed one of the best steaks in Tucson I've had since moving to this city of the west.

From all of the other reviews that I've read about Pinnacle Peak, I've learned that it is some sort of theme restaurant. Needless to say. I didn't know this when my husband and I decided to dine here. We were on vacation and looking for a good steak meal.

Unfortunately, we didn't find it at Pinnacle Peak. The service was terrible, the table and floor were dirty, and the food was sub-par. I mean, we got cheap white bread - like the kind you buy at the grocery store - on the table before our meals.

The entire restaurant is "decorated" with ties. If you wear a tie here, they'll cut it off of your neck and hang it on the ceiling.

The price doesn't merit the food or the service. Move on.

I wanted to take my husband someplace good and fun for his birthday so we decided on Pinnacle Peak. Nestled back in Trail Dust Town off of Tanque Verde and Kolb area, we thought this would be great for the kids to enjoy as well as us. We arrived just after opening hours so there were not many guests. Our waitress took our drink orders... then went and took two other tables. Instead of bringing our drinks out first, she brought all 3 tables at the same time. The same process was done with our dinner salads and our meals. (We have 4 children so assuming the time to cook our meals along with the other 2 tables, dinner was not hot and fresh). Not very good one on one customer service considering there were at least 7 or 8 other waiters/waitresses and only about 6 tables of guests. The food was not as expected. It was boring and bland and NOT worth the price we had to pay. Although Trail Dust Town is fun, Pinnacle Peak is not recommended unless you have a lot of money to waste and time to wait on ok food and poor service.

Take our visitors every time we have some. There is a really cool show outside before dinner, a walk-through old timey "town," gift shops, candy shop that sells older types of candy & AWESOME fudge, plus the restaurant itself is pretty cool. The service is pretty good, plus the whole "no tie" thing makes it fun for the kiddies (I won't ruin it with details, but have your kid go in wearing an old tie...they'll love it!). The food was okay, my husband loves the steak but I find it a little better than something you'd make yourself. The show is free, they take donations, but it has awesome special effects, and is quite comical. I'd definently recommend this as a show off spot for out of towners.

I've been going to Pinnacle Peak since the early 90's; and you can't do better than steak cooked over a roaring mesquite fire. The decor is pure cowboy, not too cheap and probably cheesy to most, but it's fun for families. For about $ 20.00 you can get a 2 pound steak cowboy cut; a salad and a bowl of ranch beans with jalapenos. Nothing fancy-but they must be still doing something right after all these years as there's always 100 or so people waiting to get in at opening time. Just make sure you get your steak cooked a little more than usual-they tend to undercook the steaks.

Located in the touristy town of Trail Dust, this steakhouse offers so-so food for a reasonable, but plenty of atmosphere to make it worth the trip. You get a full taste of the Wild West, complete with a gun show outside the resturaunt and a train that circles the park. Great place to take the family!

But, if you have kids and can't choke down another cardboard pizza from one of the kiddy places, this is a great alternative. They have a train ride, a carousel, and you can generally find someone inside making balloon hats. And then there is of course the steaks... So everyone walks away happy and with full tummies...

Pinnacle Peak is a pretty touristy place, but still fun to visit.

The steakhouse offers generous-sized steaks (in either the cowgirl or cowboy sizes), but also fish and chicken for those who aren't into red meat.

However, the meat usually is redder than requested, so order one degree closer to well done than usual.

The price is right, the staff is friendly, and the wild west shows are great for kids.

The food was good but the place is busy and way to many children are allowed in. If you do not mind an abunance of children while you are enjoying your food you will have a good time.

It is worth going to at least once to experience the atmosphere and try something different.

Steak in Tucson meant only ONE place. Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse. I don't know what happened but everyone In my family has said..its NOT good anymore. They used to cook your steak the way YOU wanted and the steak was always tender and juicy. I hope they get back whatever they lost...weather the cook's, customer service or what...Please Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse bring it back to light, it has been a Tucson Landmark since I was little. Now all the other steak houses are worse!.

If you have family in town or if you need to feed a large group you need to visit Pinnacle Peak. There are shows and entertainment while you wait to pass the time. If you go on a weekend be prepared to wait, sometimes an hour. If you have an appatite and want the big porterhouse the offer, you need to get in early beause the sell out all the time. The menu is simple and sometimes the service is slow but the atmosphere makes up for it.

Went there on a Friday night, and had a 1 lb. T-bone that had no flavor to it. Had a lot of fat, and tough. Sent it back, and got another steak of the same quality. If you want a cheap steak, go here. If you want quality go elsewhere.

My daughter brought me here once(she loves it). I thought the steak was very tough and the beans were not seasoned, not a great meal, probably what you would have found in a saloon in the old west days. We also had to wait quite a while for a table.

What an adventure it is to go to Pinnacle Peak, which sits in Trail Dust Town! If you wear a tie, be prepared to lose it! As you go into this old-time, western restaurant, you will see that the ceilings are covered with ties that people have willingly.. or not.. had cut off. If you would like a drink while you're waiting to be seated, you can go into their little saloon off to the side. You can see the cooks BBQing the meat, this also makes it so it smells wonderful in there. It is a dimly lit restaurant and has a very cozy feel to it. The tables have red-checkered tablecloths, with lanterns sitting in the middle for lighting. Their ribs are to-die-for and my husband always enjoys their tasty steaks. You get plenty of food for a good price. The staff are friendly, with their cowboy/girl names. I recommend everyone goes and eats here at least once!

PROS: Great food, wonderful atmosphere, fun experience
CONS: Only open for dinner

If you haven't been to Pinnacle Peak, then go!

It's a unique Tucson institution set in Traildust Town, a mini-western town with fun shops and even a gunfight to entertain the kids.

The restaurant itself is a combination Old West bar and a series of huge barn-like dining rooms, with rafters and walls all draped with cut-off ties. If you wear a tie to dinner, sooner or later you'll hear a loud clanging of cow bells as the staff rushes over to cut it off. No ties allowed! But folks love to take their visiting relatives and tell them to wear a tie, so even if you don't have one, you'll be sure to witness somebody else's embarrassment.

Each dining room has their own open kitchen, with cowboys stirring up the flames and flipping the steaks. Bowls of beans and cheap white bread will be slopped onto your table, along with a salad of iceburg lettuce. Depending on the cut of steak you order, it will range from good to delicious - but any way it goes, you'll have a grear time!

PROS: All that fun for the price of a meal
CONS: On weekend evenings there can be a wait - but it's not boring!

Pinnacle Peak in Trail Dust Town is a great place to take family members and have an all-out great time! There is so much to do after you enjoy a wonderful Mesquite Grilled Steak! Oh sooooo good!
Nightly stunt shows are incredibly funny and several shops to browse through add just the right touch to the evening.
I highly recommend Pinnacle Peak to anyone who is looking for enjoyable food and good family fun!
Also, the Savoy Opera House is a private banquet hall, that has a victorian theme for any event! Lots of weddings and corporate events held there!

When we lived in Tucson it was a family tradition to go to Pinnacle Peak before heading to the latest show at the Gaslight Theater. We took turns wearing a tie until we'd all had one cut off. We always had the Pit Beef and loved it! Lots of food and budget prices. They used to have more sauce choices for the beef, but what they have now is still good. Always debated trying to conquer the 2 lb steak, but never could pass up the Pit Beef! We're going back next month to visit, and it will be my daughter's turn to wear the tie! Can't wait!

We lived in Tucson for a while before moving to California. We were introduced to Pinnacle Peak by some friends. It was a distance from our home, but well worth the drive. Now we try to get there when ever we go back to Tucson for visits. There is no place that compares where we currently live. Go, enjoy! But if you insist on wearing a tie, make sure its one you would like to see eliminated from your wardrobe. Its fun to see all the wierd ties hanging from the rafters. The food is great and the staff is fun.

Unless you want to get rid of an old tie or think that dining at someplace like Furr's is a treat, avoid this place. When I first moved to Tucson a few years ago, EVERYONE recommended Pinnacle Peak for a great steak. After eating there, I realize that I must have a different opinion of a great steak than most people. While you do get a lot of food for your money, you get what you pay for. The steaks are not the best quality, the beans are bland, and the salads are yawn-worthy. It does have an 'Old West' feel to it, and is therefore good for tourists, and also has much to do for kids. But for grown-ups with no kids, looking for a quality steak dinner, this is not it. And while they do take your tie and nail it to the rafters, I don't imagine they've ever cleaned their collection, by the amount of dust hanging off of them...

I have heard of Pinnacle Peak through various people, but i never experienced it until my boyfriend took me there on our one month anniversary, it was quite an experience. i have never seen so much lively in any employees before and it was great to see how the employees made the customers feel important. it was a joy to go there and because of that my boyfriend and I are well on our way to celebrate our 6 month anniversary, hopefully it will be at yours truly Pinnacle Peak.

Don't plan on wearing your favorite tie to this place if you want to be wearing it when you leave. Go to the Peak for a good steak and a casual and fun dining experience with the family.

I discovered Pinnacle Peak in November of 2002, and I can't get enough of it! So far (albeit I really have'nt been to enough steak houses in Tucson to fully claim this) to me this has been the absolute *best* steak around. Not to mention, the atmosphere is totally for the family (just don't arrive with a tie! hint, hint! :D)

An excellent steak house, often coppied never equaled. A place where a mechanic or street sweeper can eat an excellent steak without leaving his wallet behind, or having to be seated in a conrner because of income or social standing.

Abner you could learn a lesson here , as could some of the rest of the compitition.

Pinnacle Peak offers entertainment and Great food at a price anyone can afford. A nice size mesquite grilled "T" Bone can be had for as little as $12.00. The area around the restaurant is set up like an old west town and is called Trail Dust Town. Even on busy nights the wait never seems long as you stroll around Trail Dust Town visiting shops and/or watching Old West Gun Fights which are acted out hourly.

I absolutely love going to Pinnacle Peaks in the Trail Dust Town. The food is great. It does get pretty crowded and the waiting list is always long. But with the little shops surrounding it and the other sites....like the blacksmith, the gazebo, etc. it helps make the wait not so bad.

The ends of the rack of ribs were hard and dry, the middle ribs on the rack were tasty and finger licking good. The steak was cooked to order and very good. The baked potato was fine. Service was very good.

Pinnacle Peak is simply the best steakhouse in Tucson. For almost 50 years, no other steakhouse even comes close. Lots of fun things to do in Trail Dust Town, gunfights, arcades, train, etc.

Home of the famous cowboy steak!!!Pinnacle Peak has been around for a long time. The reason behind this is because of what they offer.Excellant Food, awsome service, plus the added pleasure of having your tie cut off. They have a wide selection of things for your entire family, including train rides ,gun fights, stunt showes and much much more!!!Pinnacle Peak offers a 32 oz steak for 13.95 believe it or not.No where else will you find that price.I had the Pit beef.If you are asking what is Pit Beef?It is a shreded beef that has been has been cooked in a deep pit for 24 hrs the flavor is awsome.

If you love steak, go to Pinnacle Peak! But I do not suggest wearing a tie. The will cut it off and hang it from the rafters. It is a tradition though so don't panic. Great family food and the little town that surrounds it is a great place to shop for gifts!
