I received my BA from this school back in 97. I loved every day and every class. I have heard that it is hard to get a class if you are don't have many units... I transferred in with units so I usually had a good sign-up date. However, I think that they changed the way they assign sign-up dates now. Whatever problems I might have had with the school are far out weighed by the great times... There is always something going on if you like to feel like you are a part of a large family. If you are into quiet, take a stroll in the morning hours while the fog is slowly burning off and the dew is dripping off the beautiful plants that great you every where you go.

San Francisco State University is a pretty decent school. When I went for a summer class in Chemistry, the professor was very knowledgable. He was always available to us when we needed him. The only thing I did not is that SFSU is such a crowded school. I am used to smaller classes, so I found this overwhelming. But the prices are reasonable.

If you want to attend college with people from all backgrounds, then you want to attend SFSU. You get to register for classes and get up to date information on availability of classes over the Internet. Due to budget cuts, SFSU has raised the cost of attending each semester. It's still less than UC schools. Every subject has quality professors. You can find out about the bad ones on student review websites. Some buildings are being renovated, so you'll see some construction here and there. There is a ONE STOP center where students can take care of payments, registration issues, transcripts, scholarships, and more. The campus has a track field, baseball field, and tennis courts.

SFSU is one of the better Cal State campuses. The Cal State system is one of the two public university systems in California (University of California being the other). The level of undergrads here is often barely higher than at a community college. For grad school, they only offer master's degrees (no PhDs). A lot of the older faculty aren't actively doing any research at all although I think there has been a push lately to require new faculty to do some. The campus looks ok, nothing spectacular, although whoever came up with the design for the student union... oh well! Also, it's near Daly City "where the sun never shines", so it can get kinda depressing when it's raining or overcast most of the year.

There are just so many students that attend SF State that it is ridiculous. It is so hard to get any of the classes that you want, especially if you are a freshman or sophmore. And the campus is so big that you have to walk so far to get to one class from another. And parking is a whole other issue. Ther is none!! Even if you buy a parking permit, its really hard to find a space. Maybe because the area is so busy. But the education is okay. I had some classes that were good and some that were dumbed down. I did not like that.

SF State is in the perfect location. It's walking distance to Stonestown Mall, so if you ever have time in between classes you always have somewhere to go. The academics of SF State are marginal at best because of the easy admissions into the school. While the teachers are good, the quality of the students slows the learning process. This fact is known to many recruiters causing presitges firms from recruiting at state. I recommend going to a UC instead, because even the worst UCs are still better than the states.

CONS: reputation

I've taken a few classes here trying to get into they're nursing program. I've heard nothing but good things about they're RN program here. My best friend graduated here with his Bachelors and so did my sister. I know plenty of students that attend this school and love the experience. Its located a couple blocks from Stonestown Gallery and public transportation is right in front of the school.

Large campus with a lot of great extracurricular activites. Great enviroment with a lot of trees, green grass, benches to view the school. Easy to get around with maps everywhere. Also they have great teachers that provide the students with the knowledge they need to move on in their careers. Though there were many classes that were cut, there are still many avaliable to choose from. Also there are many majors that are offered.
