I've been here about 4 times, and 2 times I got a good cut, a great cut, actually. But 2 of the times, I hated the job they did on my tresses!
Good experience: The stylist did very technical layers, which came out great and fell perfectly! I also got great highlights from the same stylist, and were exactly what I wanted as far as color and amount.
Bad experience: I asked for a TRIM and she chopped off FIVE inches! I know hair grows, but not THAT fast!
I have been with Christeen for 6 years. She has never made me unhappy! I am constantly complimented on my hair color even by strangers. I would never go to anyone else, EVER! I love my hair and have made friends with my hair, yes I know that sounds corny! I would recommend Christeen to anyone, she bends over backward for you and does not stop until you and she are satified. She takes her time and does not rush, she is perfect! I love having my hair done, I look forward to it! Thank you Christeen for all your hard work!
Pros: Best Colorist in Tacoma
I started having Christeen cut my hair a few years ago - mostly I chose her because she was close to my house. Right away I was impressed with the amount of time she took with my hair. She really looked at it, played around with it and gave honest feedback on what style would work best for my hair. She's very friendly and really cares about her clients.
My hair is relatively thin and I've struggled with finding a hairstyle to give it a lift - without a lot of hair products. With Christeen's hair cutting skills, I don't have to spend a lot of time on my hair. It looks good even if I just blow dry it without any styling aids.
Recently she started coloring my hair and I honestly have never received so many compliments on my hair. I just put myself in her hands and let her do what she thinks best - I trust her that much and she's never disappointed me. I always leave thrilled with my look.
Christeen recently moved to the downtown Azarra location. I've only been there a couple of times, but so far I like what I've seen. It's a very casual and fun atmosphere.
I highly recommend Christeen Cho - you won't be disappointed.
Pros: casual, yet professional & fun atmosphere
Cons: parking can be difficult downtown
I usually don't write bad reviews just because I'm unhappy with service but I'm making an exception. I thought Aura was nice but rude and even insulting - perhaps unintentionally. But nonetheless I really regret going there. Probably one of the most expensive salons in town but definitely nowhere near the best for services or results.
Pros: Nice location
For the past year and a half, after moving away from my hairstylist who I had relied on for years to cut my short hair, I have tried to find someone local who could follow a few simple instructions and to put it bluntly: CUT MY HAIR RIGHT! After many failed attempts, I made an appointment online to see Jonathan at Azarra Salon. I couldn't have left a happier person :) At last I found someone who listened to what I wanted to have done and clearly had the skills and technique to carry it out! I will definitely be going back--thanks!!
Hey Jonathon! thanks so much for doing the makeup at the TacomaOpolis Fashion show! It's always a pleasure to have such top notch style at our events. You do a great job with getting those dramatic stage looks and all your efforts are greatly appreciated! Sorry for the delay of this note. <3 j
Pros: hip urban setting and some of the area's best colorists and makeup artists
Cons: parking can be tough...they do have 2 spaces in the back though.
Whenever I go to Azarra salon to get my hair done by Jonathan it is always a good time. He never holds back so each time I leave with my hair looking like this beautiful colorful creation that I always always LOVE! He is super fun and friendly. I would never go anywhere else. I have followed him from his old salon because I have never met a hair stylist before that I can be so comfortable with. He always comes up with some adorabale new style that has everyone complimenting me the next day.
Pros: He is flexible with schedules and is very fun and talented.
So the first time I went to see Jonathan I didn't have a clue as to what I wanted to do to my hair. I was never satisfied with whatever happened to it. Low and behold Jonathan came into a coffee shop I worked for at the time and we became friends and he told me to come up to the Azarra shop right above the Harmon restaurant. I went and saw him and at first he had me scared because he told me that he wanted to try a faux-hawk and get on some foiling. It was the best hair cut I have ever had, and since that day I have never even thought of going anywhere else. If you don't mind spending a little bit of cash, Azarra Salon is the place to go! You won't regret it. And remember, Jonathan is the guy to ask for...chances are he'll approach you first, though =)
Pros: The cut and color.
Cons: The price...as they say , if you go to a thrift store you're going to get a thrift store price. If you don't have the money, go to Great Clips where Rainesha can butcher your hair.
I have seen Jonathon Wells, and he has provided me with good, cute, styles.
My time is just as valuable to me, as I expect others are. I was crushed when Jonathon and I had an appointment- which I confirmed 1 hours prior to our appointment and when I arrived HE had left. I could have understood if he were sick but that wasn't the case- I felt blown off and that's not ok. I had always tipped Jonathon very well, and he of course told me how sorry he was.
I did feel like a relationship had ended- it showed me just how important, or in this case non important I was. I don't believe that the other stylists in this salon do this to their clients. However I would have felt awkward going to another stylist in the same salon- maybe it's me.
I now drive to North Seattle to have my hair done, and will continue too. It may be a longer drive, BUT I have never been stood up, blown off, or felt taken advantage of, or not appreciated. It's about looking fantastic, and knowing that your stylist really cares.
I did not get that feeling from Jonathon. I did not appreciate him having to cut my hair fast because he had been out partying the night before and had dia* and didn't know when his next bowel movement would occur. YES it really happen! I had actually followed him from a salon that he worked at in University Place.
I wouldn't have been comfortable with Jonathon doing my make up, his signature style tends to be a little more "over the top & in full drag" than I would chose to look.
I realize that this salon has perfect reviews, I just wanted to share my opinion & experience- for a little more balanced look and having been customer. Just saying things aren't always as rosie as they seem.
Pros: Evening appointments- heck you can even bring wine and drink if that's your thing- is this a plus. Colorful conversation, this might not be a place for all- but it's a niche
Cons: Parking & Access to the building. Will the stylist that you have an appointment with BE there? Or will he stand you up....... one never knows.
I highly recommend the Azarra Salon to anyone. The salon has a great atmosphere and everyone who works there is so welcoming and nice. Dawn Koste is my stylist and I love her hair cuts. She cuts and colors my hair better than anyone has in years. She has great technical skills and works really well with clients to fit their haircut to their look, personality and lifestyle. I haven't had this many compliments on my hair in years. She's wonderful!!!!
I have lived in Tacoma all my life and I have been to just about every high end salon in town. That being said, I have been going to Azarra for about 2 years and Carrie is my stylist and she is dynamic. She has worked miracles and corrected my color a few times after I screwed it up. She is always spot on, truthful and talented. This weekend Jonathan did my daughters makeup and hair, and my makeup. He did such a fantastic job, he is such a talented artist. This is my take on salon experience; as I stated earlier I have been to many salons in the Tacoma area and while any person can be trained to do hair and makeup there is something to be said about atmosphere and social skills that sets Azarra apart from the other salons around here. Unpretentious, real and fun are words that I would describe about the salon. You can be yourself, relax and talk about anything without feeling awkward or belittled. Laughter is a requirement. Jonathan went out of his way and put forth the extra effort with my daughter as if she was a family member and he had a personal investment in her day. Top that Brassfields, Gene Juarez or Mendi.
I recently got married and was in desperate need of finding a hairstylist. I stumbled upon Jonathon at Azarra Salon. After meeting him for the first time I knew he was going to do a perfect job. He made me feel comfortable and confident that he would make me look my best for the big day. He had me schedule a cost-free consultation where we went over every last detail about my hair and makeup, and he even did my hair and makeup to make sure it was just what I wanted. When the day arrived I felt like a million bucks!! I had always imagined my hair for the big day to be beautiful, but I never could of envisioned how beautiful he made my hair look. Jonathon has done my hair ever since, I dont know if I can trust anyone else. It is just so wonderful to walk into the salon with no idea of what I want to do with my hair, and leave it to Jonathon I always come out looking even more beautiful than ever!! He is full of energy and enthusiasm, and he is truly passionate about making women look and feel confident, like we all should be. I would really just like to say thanks to Jonathon for being so awesome, and I think that all women deserve to get alittle piece of heaven with they visit Jonathon at Azarra Salon.
I tend to be more granola than glamorous, but I wanted to get my hair and make-up into to shape for my wedding. Aura tuned right into my style and gave me some great honey toned highlights that are subtle but make a huge difference! I continue to get asked if my highlights are natural and get compliments on my hair color frequently.
Jonathan did a makeup consultation with me and really worked with my desire for an understated look while still pushing me kindly to stretch my comfort zone. I felt beautiful on my wedding day and will return to Azarra salon.
Pros: Atmosphere, stylists
Azarra Salon is the best in Tacoma. I have been to Brassfields and Foxfire and some others I can't even remember...and Aura was just simply the best hairstylist I have been to in the 10 years I have lived in Tacoma. I will never go to anyone else again.
The atmosphere is casual....not snobby or pretentious or pushy and the stylists all have their own personalities and "funkiness". I felt comfortable within minutes and could have talked with Aura all night!
I got exactly what I asked for and more. A fabulous haircut...which now my 5 year old daughter wants the same...and a great place to return to again and again.
Pros: Stylists, service, friendliness, skills and attitude
Cons: Parking during rush hour can be a bit hairy. But have patience...
I have been to many many different salons for my blonde highlighting and hair cuts. Walking in, Azarra salon at first glance does not seem like anything special . It does not look edgy or upscale like the other salons I have been to. I went to the Gary Manuel Phase 3 salon and Gene Juarez many times. The price of the Gary Manuel Salon is reasonable since I'm a student but the stylists would constantly be changing so getting the same stylist for the price was not always possible. The price at Gene Juarez is a little too lofty for me. I checked out the prices online and read some reviews and booked my appointment on their website. I figured its worth checking out. It is located right on my UW Tacoma campus where I go to school so it was very convenient for me to go after class. I also loved that I could book my appointment online because I could see what was available and I'm always online anyway. I had my highlight with Aura. She has a great personality and is brilliant woman. It was very easy to talk to her. There was no sales pressure to buy products. I enjoyed every moment there, while I was waiting for the color to develop I read some of the books she had and read the book Aura wrote herself. I told her I was not expecting something fantastic because I never got great results at other salons. As long as it didn't look too yellow I would be happy. To my surprise...after my hair was blown dry it actually looked...well...blonde! :) I will definitely be coming back! Basically...the price was reasonable based on Aura's experience, finding the salon since its in the Harmon Building was a little confusing, the atmosphere was low key but relaxing, but everything was worth it for the results in the end! Book your appointment on the website now!
Pros: Price, Skill, Low-Key environment, Results
Cons: Finding the salon...maybe parking, depending on the time you come
I started going to Azarra about two years ago when I got tired of driving to Seattle for a haircut. Carrie is far better than the stylist I was seeing, both with cut and color. I have extremely curly hair, and not only does she excel at cutting it, she's been able to recommend products and techniques that have really improved its overall condition and looks.
The atmosphere of the salon is great, too. It's relaxed and fun, but also very professional and client-oriented. And the location is great--you can shop at the funky second-hand store down the street if you're early for an appointment, or have a hand-crafted beer at the Harmon to celebrate yet another fine haircut. I love the fact that I can get a great haircut in my home town, but I'll keep coming to Azarra no matter where I live in the northwest.
Pros: Skilled staff, atmosphere, online appointment scheduling
Thank you Aura! I may not have been your most challenging hair coloring project - but I know it wasn't the quickest (smile) nor easiest either. I certainly wouldn't have trusted anyone else to take my generous dark, damaged and many colored locks to consistent, light and bright. Your patience and willingness to warn and explain, then to work late into the night to get it right is much appreciated! I followed you from Proctor and this new building is a classic and the surrounding atmosphere is fresh and exciting. You are famous now - with good reason. Start whipping up the bleach... I'll be back! (KLM)
Pros: Evening hours, cool location
It takes one to know one!!
Thank God the sister of curly hair, Carrie, really know what it is like to have the joy and sometimes frustration of curly. I have been going Carrie for the last 15 years and have sent many curly haired friends to Azarra. The cuts and color have always been top notch!
I've been going to Carrie for years now and I have to say just how amazing that girl is with hair! I am never disappointed! She does wonders for my style, but her true gift is hair color. I have been through every shade in the book and it always turns out marvelously! It never looks cheap or is an off color. I never worry, even if I don't know what I want, she does! A true fashionista helping goddess. The whole salon is great. Love Aura and Jonathan, they are great too and always helpful, but my loyalty lies with Carrie. No one else will ever touch my hair again and I'll keep looking damn good for it!
Pros: Best staff
Cons: Can't think of a single one!
After a long search, I found a salon that is absolutely exceptional. What's more I have loved my hair every time I have walked out the door. Carrie Martin has done foil highlights and cuts for me for over a year and I have been so impressed with her consistent professionalism and attention to detail. I have thin hair and have had difficulty finding someone who works this well with color and styling. Not only does Carrie and the staff do great work, but I really appreciate the fun and friendly atmoshphere. This is a great Salon!
You will never have a lack of conversation when going into this salon! All the stylist are fun and invite you to chime in with anything you want. The talent is above and beyond what I have seen in a lot of salons in the area - (including Seattle). AVEDA is a great product and Azarra sells it well!!
I would definitely reccommend anyone (well like they say "if you take your self to seriously or do not like having fun - probably not the place for you) to make an appointment to have get a great style, color or makeover!
Indulge yourself in FUN!! I LOVE IT! Dawn, Aura, Carrie and Jonathan totally win!
Pros: Fun and Artsy - cool part of town.
After I wrote this review suddenly half a dozen "clients" wrote on Carries behalf saying she was the greatest. Gee, do you think those were her friends or colleagues? Obviously! Carrie at Azarra, you are not fooling anyone who reads past the layer of your fake reviews.
Also, how absurd is it to say on your website that your salon is not for everyone? No businesses operate like that unless they have had so many complaints that it is a self defensive mechanism. If you have to say that you are not for everyone, it begs the question, are you good for anyone? I doubt it, but wish you luck!
Granted I showed up 15 minutes late which is not good. But I explained that I wouldn't need a blowout which cuts my time in half. None the less, I was greeted with the darkest attitude I've ever seen in a hairdresser. After the cut, which lasted less than 15 minutes, my hair was almost exactly the same and somewhat uneven. It was a non-haircut! The stylist Carrie Martin, claims to be good at curly hair but she is tragically out of touch with reality. As for the salon, I was shocked by the dingy quality of the environment. I've been to several Aveda salons in different states and I am honestly surprised that Aveda allows this. It is just old and funky. I am completely baffled as to why this salon has received 5 stars from Citysearch. It really makes question the validity of their ratings.
Cons: Stylist Carrie Martin. The salon is funky and dingy.
I have been going to Azarra for almost two years now. I love them and trust them completely with my hair. I first came to the salon to have my hair done for my wedding. Jonathan did an amazing job on my hair and makeup and I felt like a princess on my big day. I get hair cuts and color from both Jonathan and Aura. They both do amazing hair cuts and leave me feeling great. I always get great compliments after getting a hair cut or color done there. I did read one review that complained about a bad hair cut. There was one time when I got home and thought the new do would grow on me. All my friends loved it but I just didn't like the cut. I called the salon and they booked me an appointment. I went back in and they fixed my hair to my liking for no charge. Great customer service! I also get my eyebrows waxed by Aura. She does an amazing job!!!!! I will be moving to Seattle this summer from Tacoma but will make the journey back south to go to Azarra.
Pros: Great Staff, Evening Appointments
Cons: Can't think of anything!
Oh Goodness...I was moving to WA after having the same stylist for 15 yrs,so of course I was concerned about finding someone just like the one I had. My stylist back home hadn't had any knowledge of the tri-cities however he encouraged me to just find an Aveda salon. I found one however I was convinced I would never find someone like the one I had and settled there. When I moved to this side of Washington I called my hair stylist back home and asked him if he knew of anyone here. *My stylist in Michigan is very well known* I explained that I had found an Aveda Salon however I was moving and still searching. He immediately told me to go on line and look up "Azarra" so I did. FINALLY, after settling for 4 yrs...I have **JONATHON* and I couldnt' live without him. He is not only the BEST with his Cuts, Color and everything else, but his visions sprinkled with creativity and personality is by far greater than anyone could ask for. I can NOT say enough about Jonathon, other than HE BETTER NEVER LEAVE or MOVE because I would have to Relocate again. Jonathon is by far the absoulute best. *Luv Ya Bunches Jonathon....X's -n- O's just for you. (I have referred people to Jonathon that drive from Lacey and Olympia to see him.) "People I don't even know or have ever spoke with ask where I get my hair done...I just say..."Oh JONATHON @ Azarra in Tacoma" =you will NOT be disappointed," as I hand them one of his cards!!!!!
Pros: Azarra gets 2 Thumbs up with 5 Stars!
Cons: Parking is difficult at times however I just drive around the building until I can get a spot, because it is WORTH the 2-3 blocks I have walked to see Jonathon!
Aura is smart and kind. A great listener...really in tune with what I was looking for. Good, versitile cut and great highlights....I love the BRIGHT red! It is just what I was looking for. What a fantastic shade. I'm sold on elumen. (I have had so many compliments).
Pros: great color, friendly staff, relaxed salon
Cons: can be a little pricey...but isn't it always for good color?
I've been coming from Lynnwood for nearly 3 years to see Jonathon - he could move to Montana and I'd find a way to have him do my hair! I trust my hair in his hands completely. The whole salon is fun and everyone is fabulous! If you want a great hair cut/style/color for a reasonalble price and a few fun hours of conversation I highly highly recommend going to Azarra Salon!! ~kisses~ ..
o - BTW - My mom LOVED her hair the next day also and sends a big shot out ~ usually takes her a week to like her hair after someone else touches it!
Cons: move closer to Lynnwood... ??
About a year and a half ago I was in Tacoma visiting my soon to be mother and law. We had found my absolute dream wedding gown. Everything was perfect... but my hair. Against that starch white dress my, what I thought to be golden hair, had an almost green tint to it. That is when my mother in law introduced me to Azarra Salon. The vibe you get when walking into Azarra Salon is so welcoming, but at the same time, you know they are on the cutting edge of style. They cut and colored my hair into exactly what I had invisioned. In fact, I loved it so much we knew Aura Mae had to do the hair for my wedding. After all, on your special day you want nothing but the best. I couldn't belive how fast she moved from one girl to the other creating a different look with a similar style for all of us. It was just amazing. Only some one with years of experience and creativity under their belt, or should I say styling brush, could do such an amazing job. Azzara Salon makes people look and feel beautiful. Thank you Aura Mae, for helping me take my husbands breath away! Cheers!
Pros: There was no pressure to buy any extras! But I wanted to buy everything!
Cons: I don't live in Tacoma, now I'll have to drive 3 hours to get my hair done!
When I moved to Tacoma I found Azarra on the Web and they seemed like fun so I took a chance on a darling young man named Jonathan and haven't looked back! He alternately cuts my hair and colors it, whatever I'm in the mood for, and I trust him completely. I'm at the point where I just tell him to "do something" and invariably leave feeling cute, sassy and ready to take on the world. The atmosphere is easy going and fun and you hear the BEST conversations there ... I heart Jonathan!
Cons: Hard to resist a slice 'o pizza from downstairs
Oh where would I be without Aura??!! Probably at home with a box of store bought color and a dull pair of scissors... I LOVE GOING TO THIS SALON!! I get great color, cut and conversation. Everytime! I enjoy that the employees feel good enough to be exactly who they are and don't claim to be anything but. It is a joy for me to go in and have my hair done at Azarra with Aura or anyone else for that matter. I feel listened to, and understood when I try to get across "my vision". And if there are suggestions made they are always just that. A suggestion for me to follow or not. Your stylist will do what you wish, and not impose their wants on you. Go directly to this salon, do not pass go!!
Being a woman of "a certain age," it is important to me to look as young as
possible, without looking foolish, and the staff here understands that. Aura
does a beautiful and artful job of keeping me in colors (who wants to always
look the same?) and cuts that are flattering. I especially appreciate her
being honest with me if I should ask for a style or color that is not right for
me, and steering me in the right direction. All this, and it's a fun place to
be as well!
Pros: Well educated staff, fun environment
Cons: Lack of parking
I have been a customer of Azarra Salon for probably 12 years now and while they are a wacky bunch of artists, they are thoroughly professional and incredibly talented. In the rare event I have needed a change or fix from a previous appointment, they have bent over backwards to accomodate me. I receive compliments on a daily basis about my hair cut but mostly my color because it is always vivid, bold and very well done. I have an appointment tomorrow and can't wait because as usual, I have waited too long! Thanks Azarra Salon, keep-up the great work! Elumen Color ROCKS!
Pros: 2 parking spaces for Azarra customers only! Elumen Color rocks!
Cons: Too bad they can't have a store front.
I have my hair, makeup, and attitude "positively stroked" every time I walk into Azarra Salon. (Which , by the way, has been for years!!) All their attention to detail, and whatever I have wanted to have done, be it hair, makeup, waxing, whatever, they have created for me. If I am going out, they make it more special. If I am just going to hang out, they still always make me look and feel fabulous! I have had more great comments said about my hair after being at this Salon than I can count. The decor is inviting, the conversation is tittilating, and we always have fun. I love being in a place where everyone is comfortable and so friendly. The updo's that I have seen and experienced from their "magic fingers" are gorgeous... this includes my own daughter-in law and her bridesmaids! Even when I have come into Tacoma unannounced, Aura, Carrie, and Jonathon, always find time to fit me in. And , of course, can't we all use a little "Hairapy" from time to time??
I'm not one to write reviews, ever. But after almost a month of having to go to a different salon to have my hair fixed and almost $400 out of pocket to repair my hair, I feel the need to speak.
I came to this salon with high hopes after reading the reviews on this website, I went to the salon's website and read all the information they had to offer. At the time I felt that I was in good hands, it wasn't until the end of my appointment that I discovered I wasn't put in good hands. My hair cut was drastically uneven, my other stylist I'm going to at a different salon said that it appeared like a "shelf" in the back of my hair, she had no idea how to even follow the haircut I was given - she had no clue as to what the original style was they were going for.
I had an all over color done, and was supposed to have highlights done as well. Instead, I got an uneven all over brown color that left a good majority of my roots visible underneath the top portion of my hair and instead of highlights I got what my husband calls a "skunk stripe" of blonde in the middle section of my hair from the middle of my part on both sides of my head that was about 3" thick on both sides which stopped just behind my ears. It was simply awful, and was the day before Christmas Eve - So I had to face my family with a horrify haircut and color.
In my attemtps to call and complain to the manager, I have been told they are either not in or not available to discuss this matter with me. Very poor customer service on all accounts in my honest opinion, I don't suggest this salon to ANYONE.
Cons: Poor customer service on all parts
When I first moved to Washington from Louisiana, I tried various salons and stylists (and a few tried to make me into Jennifer Aniston cirque 1995). Having the same stylist for 10 years, I was very VERY picky yet beginning to feel hopeless! One day, after having another tete a tete with my hair, I decided to yet again...look for a new stylist. I ran across Azarra on the Internet and knew it was for me. Aura (and her fun pink hair at the time) took me in and quickly became my Knight in Shining ..well...Hair! I have recommended Aura to numerous people who have asked me "I must know who does your hair" but also warning them that if they cant take the heat(honesty)...stay out of her kitchen. I've been known to stop what i'm doing and draw maps to the Harmon building for them, too! I love having Aura on my side and will be so very sad when I must move again!
Ft Lewis, WA
I have been a client for awhile now, and I love these guys, espcially Aura. Seriously, I have been to some of the other salons rated high on Citysearch, and none of them are any better then Azarra, and they charge more! Save time, money and energy, check out the hippest salon in the south end, if you can handle it.
Pros: Awesome work, detail, haircut and color skills
Cons: Stiff Bloody Mary's at the Harmon.....tempting!!!
I have had the most amazing experiences at Azarra. My hair is extremely hard to deal with, as it is prematurely grey, fine, and colored again and again. They always make me feel sassy and cute, and edgey. All the hair dressers are completely talented. It's definately my favorite salon with my favorite hairdresser. That says a lot since I have had my hair done professionally for 20 years.
Pros: Totally amazing staff.
I went in for a corrective color. I had tried an at home dye job that didn't turn out as I wanted. An hour and a half later and $120 poorer I came out with the same color (orangey-gold). I should have known when I saw my hairstylist, her blonde dye job was orangy-gold as well, which didn't suit either of our complexions. I will definately not be back. Terrible waste of time and money.
Pros: Easy Parking
Cons: Bad Colorists
this place is lots of fun, casual, talented and knowlegeable staff, I love the on-line appointment scheduling. Hairstylists can be pompous and full of self importance, not here. First of all, they prefer the term Hairapist (great humor) and they really know their stuff, know they know it, and emphasize fun and relationships - not egos. VERY EASY GOING and I was comfortable immediately.
Pros: ambiance, parking, loved Carrie
Cons: none at all
I walked in and gave Carrie free reign to spice up my doo and get rid of the winter gloom. My hair now says "Winter is gone!" The guys at work call it Spunky & Model-Like. The girls say it fits me well and is really sassy. My husband thinks I'm out looking for a new boyfriend... I love it! And in an office environment, I'm trendy and professional. Thanks Carrie!
Pros: Good Conversation, Fun Personalities, Lively Staff
Being from out of town I read a few reviews on this and the salon's website and decided to make an appt. Carrie is awesome!! I have never gotten the exact color I wanted until now, not to mention she turned a horrible haircut into one I love. I felt like a million dollars walking out of there. I'll make it a point to travel through Seattle on my next trip to the US. This was well worth the visit and the money!!!
Pros: price, certified colorists
I have been all over Tacoma getting my hair done, and in my opinion, Azarra is cream of the crop. Expert colorist, relaxed atmosphere, and good products. Nothing about this little place is 'uppity'
Pros: knowledgeable, welcoming, products
Jonathan has been my stylist for 4 years and has been with the Salon over a year. He is a great colorist and stylist. I am pleased every time I leave the shop and continue to get lots of complements about my hair and the cut. The product line is wonderful and has expanded in the past year. The select parking in the back of the Salon is convenient as there is little street parking available when I have my appointments. I continue to like the E-mail reminders and ability to make an appointment on line.
Keep up the great service!
Pros: On line appointments, on line reminders
Cons: need more parking
I wrote my first review on this websit in 2005 (it's now 2009) and my opinion hasn't changed. Aura saved me from some very bad hair (thanks to home hair color and a very pricey stylist who didn't know how to cut curly hair). Over the years I've changed my hair often. It's been long, short and every length in between. It's also been through many color changes. Aura is always up for something new, guides me well and has kept my hair healthy and looking current (without being "trendy"). She always seems to get what I want-often when I'm not even sure what that is.
The customer service at Azarra is also excellent. If I've tried a new product and it's not worked out, no problem. If I'm not quite sure about a new hair cut or color, Aura works with me until I'm happy. All I've ever had to do is speak up and say so (that seems to be a hard thing for people to do).
Azarra isn't your typical cookie cutter corporate salon. A lot of higher end salons are aiming for the same chi-chi tone of hushed awe. You know the ones-where everyone is dressed in some variation of gray or black and no one is talking (and when you don't like your cut you just shut up and pay because who are you to argue with "the master"?) Azarra is more relaxed than that. I always feel comfortable being myself and I always leave looking like a lot better version of me.
Some additional pros: on-line appt booking (so when you remember you need an appt at 10 at night you can make it right then), WINE and the view!
Pros: Atmosphere/Attitude, Skill level, Products
Cons: There are pizza & beer in the same building. Hard to resist.
