Our infant had slightly low blood sugar and the doctor said to hold it all you wanted but the nurses in that section refused to let her pick it up when she came down unless it was already awake. They treated her like she shouldn't even come to see her own child. Very controlling and condensending!

We absolutely love this hospital and staff. We have had 2 kids there with Kaiser insurance and now are planning to pay out of pocket to have our 3rd there as we don't have maternity coverage anymore.

Highly recommended!

I do not have Kaiser insurance, but was taken to Good Samaritan in Lafayette by ambulance after a fainting spell and a fall that left me unconscious. I was admitted on a cardiac watch An echocardiogram was done at 10 am the next morning, and by 6 p.m. (8 hours later for someone on a CARDIAC WATCH) they had not found a non-Kaiser cardiologist to evaluate the test results. As a result they were talking about keeping me a second night. The hospital cannot provide proper care to patients without Kaiser insurance, so should not admit them. I would not recommend them at all. If you do not have Kaiser insurance, do not go to Good Samaritan.

My daughter gave birth at Exempla a couple of days ago, and our experience couldn't have been better. My daughter, her husband and I received every consideration during the birth, and even though the Kaiser system meant that she had doctors she hadn't met, they were all positive, confident, informative and confidence inspiring. The nurses were fabulous....a special thanks to Elizabeth in the post natal area...and accommodated our every need...even my four-year-old grandaughter's. This was most definitely a better experience than we all had four years ago at another (non-Kaiser) local hospital. I am very impressed with the extra and outreach programs...from inspecting car seats to wonderful nursing advice to a first-night-home meal and home visits if necessary. Thanks for everything...we'd certainly recommend your program!

My daughter just delivered her baby yesterday at Exempla Lafayette, and though she had no experience in medical facilities prior to this, I have worked in hospitals for years and in medical manufacturing. I rate Exempla as poor to miserable. My daughter entered in the very early morning after her water broke. They had all the pre-admit stuff in place and she went to a labor and delivery room. By the time I got there after lunch, she was already hooked up to IVs and a catheter plus had been given an epidural. She wanted a vaginal birth if at all possible, but with all the hookups, she didn't realize that wasn't the plan. They left her with IVs and pain killers until 5:30 p.m. at which point the physician handling call that day came in to tell her that a C-section was the only way to go. All afternoon my daughter ran a temp of 104 and her BP fluctuated from normal to very very low (85/53) setting off alarms on the monitors which often ran 20 minutes before anyone came in. Nothing was done to treat the temp, and no one mentioned concern over the low BP. I never saw any effort to have her delivery vaginally. She was kept "comfortable" until the staff could schedule the C-section which I believe was planned all along. When the dr. brought in the consent forms near dinner time, my daughter had not had anything to eat or drink for over 24 hours, had been running a fever all afternoon, and was clearly not in a position to give informed consent. That didn't stop the doctor. No one got to read the forms, but my daughter signed. I heard the doctor say specifically that if they did the C-section when it wasn't called for, they would just call it a mistake. Too bad!

Not the best experience and the only conclusion is the baby was finally delivered C-section around 8:30 that evening when the staff was ready and a room was open.

Totally unsatisfactory care and obviously milking the insurance coverage that my daughter had!

I had to select this hospital because I had Kaiser insurance. I thought it would be a pain (excuse the pun) becuase it was so far away from my home, however a month before my baby was due, I had to go in because I developed severe pre-eclampsia. The doctors involved my husband and me in every decision and the nurse staff was so very friendly. My little girl was delivered a month early and is healthy and happy. The staff over at Exempla made the bad situation into a very pleasant stay.

PROS: Great staff, very informative
CONS: Far from Loveland, CO
