after all the great reviews about Motown Monday we decided to come in with a party of 5 but it was completely sold out. We were very disappointed so the host had the staff bring in an extra table from out side and adjusted a few tables to fit us in. I just can not believe this place the food, service, and music were incredible.The atmosphere was on fire we found out later one of the singer/performers was a 11 time Grammy winner. five stars plus

Last Friday was my first visit to The Broadway Grill, Burlingame CA. I am a long time resident of the area. Experience started out with cocktails at the bar. Our bartender George was very friendly and handled the groups drink requests with a smile.Our table was held while we were at the bar. Our hostess was friendly and accommodating. We got a nice table in a quiet corner. I frequent this area and was surprised to see that the restaurant wasn't very crowded or busy. This is not typical for a Friday evening. The restaurant has a nice overall atmosphere, and live piano music. Our waiter presented and introduced himself. He was pleasant and friendly and appeared to be on top of things. One person in our group requested some butter. This is where things started going bad. After 3 separate requests we just stopped asking. My wife ordered a salad and shrimp for dinner. She asked that they both be served together when the table's dinner was served. Her salad came out 5 minutes later. She just pushed it off to the side. Our appetizer showed up and was very good.Our waiter never checked in with us, or asked how we were doing. We finally got some butter, but our bread was cold by this time. More than 40 minutes had now passed since we placed our order. Frankly I was a little hungry by this point. A few minutes later, another server presented with one of our groups dinner. The problem, no one else had their dinner. We sat for 5 minutes before I finally told him to start eating without us. The other meals came finally. Rack of lamb was very good. Pork Chops were dry. Shrimp and clams were excellent. Portions were SMALL. I finally talked to the waiter and expressed my dissatisfaction. The executive chef presented at our table next. He asked me to provide specific examples so he could help his team improve. I provided this. He then offered a round of drinks. We declined. A round of cocktails wasn't going to fix this. At the end of dinner another person presented and asked if we wanted a "special" drink. We declined this as well. While I did get the impression that they were concerned about my unsatisfactory experience, their offering alcohol to "wash it away" didn't sit well with me. I paid the bill, and left no tip. I would not normally do this, but felt it was the only way to demonstrate the level of dissatisfaction with my visit and experience.I am undecided at this point about giving Broadway Grill a second chance. I do know that I will not recommend it to family or friends.

My girlfriend and I spent the weekend in the Bay Area celebrating our 50th birthdays. We saw this restaurant on our hotel's TV "best restaurant" viewing guide. We went on Sunday evening. Our reservation was at 7:30 p.m. We arrived at 6:55 p.m. and were seated immediately. Our waiter was a pleasant young man from Bolivia who had a heavy accent and sometimes did not understand our questions regarding the menu. We ordered an appetizer and our dinner at the same time. We had to ask for the oil and vinegar for our bread. After waiting approximately 30 minutes then our dinner arrived. We had previously asked about our appetizer and was told it was on it's way. When our dinner arrived prior to the appetizer, we ask for our appetizer only to find out that the waiter had never placed an order for our appetizer. He was under the impression because we had ordered shrimp for dinner, we could not have possibly wanted the shrimp appetizer. We requested that our dinner be returned and requested our appetizer be delivered. After another 15 minutes, we received the appetizer. Once our appetizer was finished, we received our dinner approximately one hour after we were initially seated. Both the appetizer and diiner were good. We also enjoyed the jazz pianist who played Summertime at my request. I had to request a tip glass so I could leave a tip for the pianist. Although we enjoyed the dinner and the surroundings, my girlfriend stated she would never return as a result of the service. I would probably return as I am hoping that the server is new and is still learning. If I were to receive the same type of service on another trip, then I would have to decline a third visit and would definitely tell others about the superb food but the service is lacking.

I went to this great spot last night for dinner. It was so lively and busy yet everyone managed to keep smiling and wish me a good evening. the host, Steve made a great impression on me by keeping my friend and I entertained through drinks, waiting for food, and finally for some delicious dessert and coffee. He's a sweetie. I ordered grilled chicken dinner and it was absolutely grilled to perfection. I will be going back very soon!

In my opinion one of the best spots in burlingame to grab dinner with friends. Love the people, love the architecture, LOVE the food. The music was fun and not too loud, including alot of bigband/swing style that you can sing along and tap your feet to. I hear they have a motown monday which I am eager to attend.

I went to this spot today just to get dinner with a friend of mine. What should have only been something that took an hour ended up turning into a few hours of good conversation and laughs! After sitting at the bar, we had drinks and began talking with a delightful bartender, Christina. Soon afterwards, our order was taken by Steve and within minutes we had our dinner. The steak was delicious and came with a more than generous serving of fries. I'm looking forward to taking a drive out to burlingame all the way from the city just to have a great dinner service again.

Went to the Broadway Grill last night, and it was a totally fabulous dining experience. This place is great! The moment I sat down I felt at ease and comfortable. after a hectic day at work, the last thing I wanted was to have problems with dinner. There were none! The host took care of me and even recommended an excellent dish.

My family and I went to breakfast at Broadway Grill, and it was such a friendly, relaxed environment. Our hostess was very sweet and was able to get us seated and served in no time. Even servers that were not helping us wished us a good morning and were ready with a smile. Seeing the customer service here, I had high expectations for the food which were definitely met. The price was reasonable and the wait wasn't too long considering there were alot of other families there for breakfast.

Wow! This restaurant is amazing! It rivals any fine dining restaurant in San Francisco. Being from the city myself, I wasn't expecting much from this restaurant but once I set foot inside I was blown away. The decor is beautiful, and all the servers were quite professional, outgoing and friendly. The food itself was satisfying, especially since we were served quickly and efficiently. I give it an A+!

I had a wonderful experience at the Broadway Grill. Our hostess was friendly and knowledgeable with any questions we asked. The service was quick and the food was very good. We didn't have to wait very long to be served, which for me is a major plus. I would recommend this restaurant to all! family, friends or strangers.

This is the place to be on a Saturday Night. I don't know about you but this will be my new resting place after a long day at work. The steaks are perfect and the wait staff helped me to relax. Expect a small wait, but it is SOOOOO worth it.

Wow what a great time we had What a great idea free Motown music show. The food and service was great. I have payed more to see a show of this level than our whole dinner cost. Also saw a celebrity having dinner across from us.

My husband and two teenagers went to dinner at the Broadway Grill in burlingame on Fathers day. We had all had such a good time we came back the week for breakfast. The food and service was fantastic.

Every meal was delivered separately. The eggs were underdone, and the apple pancakes came with bananas instead of apples. The lattes were tiny. On the other hand, the food tasted good -- but it really wasn't worth the stress.

I took 5 people to Broadway grill for dinner on Saturday May 19 th. We did not have reservations and it was very busy so I tried to bypass the hostess and asked the manager Steve to get us a table quickly so we could make an 8:30 movie it was already 6:45. He told me to give him 5 minutes to see what he could do. He came back within a couple of minutes with complimentary wine for all of us and said he would have our table ready by seven. The hostess gave us menus and made a few recommendations the rack of lamband the bassa fish. I took her advice and had the rack of lamb she was right it was the best I have had since a greek easter picknick two years ago. Steve had our table ready at 7:05 otherwise this would be a 5 star review. We all got our food fast and made it to our movie right on time. Every one had a great meal and love the atmospher. I will be back

Our family has lived in burlingame for 3 generations we celebrated our seventh grandsons birthday at the Broadway grill. We have 28 family members that night for dinner ranging age from 3 years old to 94 years old. Myself and my wife were hosting the party and we were so pleased that every person there was so impressed with the food and service that we decided to write a review and give this place the highest recommendation. This was the first time we hosted a party and made the whole family happy, at least the 28 that showed up!

they let you create your own omelet.
My parents eat out more than twice a week and they love the broadway grill for dinner my mom is a very picky eater and she loves the vegetables and the salmon cooked on the wood grill. She takes all her friends and all have given this place high reviews for service and food.

The restaurant interior was beautiful, very first class & the hostess made us feel welcomed. The service was quick & attentive. The salmon was mediocre & over-priced. The pesto pasta (with beans) was awful. The portion was a huge glob of noddles jelled together. The actual pesto was scant & tasteless but the worst part was that the cheese tasted old. We sincerely hope that Broadway Grill will pay as much attention to the kitchen as they have to the restaurant interior. Good luck.

such a lively place with great food. I felt as if I was dining in San Francisco...can't beat that! I have been there 4 times for dinner and one time for breakfast

My husband and I eagerly awaited this new family friendly neighborhood restaurant. We were able to go and it was a HUGE disappointment. First, we sat down and the high chair was too low for our table (the table hit my daughters forehead so she had to sit in the booth between my husband and I or on our lap). The waiter was friendly but all of the staff seemed disorganized, the service was slow, and or food came out at different times. The family friendly, highly touted kids menu had about 5 selections that would be considered standard (or below standard) for any other restaurant. I ordered a prime rib, medium and it came very rare. My husband had a filet mignon and it was the worst piece of steak Ive ever tasted. The grill flavor was completely overwhelming (I had to discreetly spit it out). He sent it back (something hes never done in the 6 years Ive known him) and the replacement steak came out tasting equally bad (and I think it was $25+). We both had their signature potato dish (described as potato lasagna) and all I could taste was garlic, it was horrible. My husbands potatoes were hard and not cooked all of the way. I generally can make excuses and exceptions for new restaurants and give them time to improve, but this was so bad I never want to go back. I can only hope this restaurant closes and is replaced by a truly family friendly restaurant that has edible food.

This new restaurant in Burlingame still has a way to go. We had a jalapeno appetizer that was way to hot and therefore was not very tasty. The jalapenos need to be cleaned of ribs and seeds completely then grilled fully. These were greasy and just down right bad. I had the seafood pasta which was completely bland. The seafood appeared to be boiled and I could not taste or see any herbs. I believe the menu said that it was served with basil. Someone forgot the basil. My husband had the Caesar salad which had an unpleasant sweetness to it. I can even tell what the heck they put into it to make it sweet, but it was not very good. I hope the grilled food is better but I am not sure I want to go back. It was also advertised as very family friendly. I can't believe that is true. The children's menu was four or five items none of them looked very good. PB and J, hamburgers and hot dogs. What the hell is that? Boring! The decor is lovely and the wine list is fine, but that is it! Do not waste your time.

This is a new restaurant, only open a few days. The food was excellent! We could not get a table so we sat at the bar. The bar area is too small for the restaurant (only 6 seats and about 10 feet long). Bar tender, Christina, was friendly, engaging, and efficient. The menu is lacking some staple item such as green salads and the wine list is unsophisticated for the demographics. Although friendly, the wait staff paired to be poorly managed and unorganized. Hostesses (we think there were three) were somewhat friendly but also unorganized or perhaps unprepared, or inexperienced. We hope this will improve in time. When all is said and done, we feel this restaurant is a great addition to the neighborhood
